I'm old school, but I don't have a problem with games being moved up, especially in this case. 1. Do the coaches want to play a game in conditions that could effect the game adversely if it can be avoided? No. They don't want to practice and work all year for a slippery ball to decide the outcome! 2. Do the fans want to sit in the cold rain? No 3. For some schools, this is the last game and inclement weather would also keep the bands, majorettes, etc from performing. Does that matter to those kid's parents? Yes 4. Today's offenses are far better and more explosive. They are more fun to watch, period. The skills these kids have far surpassed what we had (or at least developed). So, why play in conditions that directly change that completely? It's the development of the game and it's better. Fact. 5. Safety first. Yes, when you can stay away from a storm, do so like you've got some sense. One freak accident like mentioned earlier and the entire night isn't worth it for anyone. 6. Does it cost each school $. Absolutely, many fans won't come. Some will watch it on-line, some will listen to it on the radio, and some will just do something else. Fact. 7. Why doesn't basketball play outside? Because weather conditions effect the game! Why doesn't baseball play in the rain? Because a wet ball effects the game and makes it dangerous. 8. Besides, 'we did it when I played' (which wasn't smart), and they are soft now days (which isn't true, they are using common sense so they can use their skills they've worked so hard to develop), what are the other arguments? 9. Turf fields were once frowned on by the 'Old School' guys like me. Now, we realize how much better they make the game. Kinda the same concept as playing in good conditions when possible! 10. Is there gamesmanship in some decisions to move games up. Yes, and I don't have a problem with allowing kids another day of rest or teams another day of prep. Go Bears!5 points

13's PARENT here...if you got something to say about my son you can direct it to me! Don't talk poop about what my son did when they were targeting him the whole game. Let's do to you keyboard warriors what they did to him and see how you handle it!3 points

I want to say a couple things. This Alto team played all year knowing that this was this would be the end of the season. For them to perform the way they did and to keep playing hard shows the character of the boys there. I am proud of them for that and for the coaching staff that is in place to keep them motivated to play. When I watched them play week one I believed that this Jackets team had a chance to be special. This season is special but for a different reason. I know some games were closer then what they should have been and the loss to Tenaha still has me scratching my head but I believe a lot of those are due to distraction. It is truly a shame for these guys that this is as far as they get to go. To the jackets on the field tonight especially the seniors we are very proud of y’all.3 points

I give credit to CH their defensive scheme worked like a charm. Slow Ross down seemed to be the objective. Kilgore had several drop balls. Defensively I believe Kilgore gave up one score in the 2nd half (could be wrong) Kilgore had their chances and just could get it going. Hopefully we'll get to see a rematch in a few weeks.3 points

I don’t ever come on here to take shots at kids. Football is emotional and I understand sometimes I punch gets thrown or there’s some pushing going on, but throwing punches, then taking your helmet off, and going back to throw some more punches is uncalled for. Apparently the Jefferson coaches agreed by sending him straight to the locker room.2 points

CH! District champs! Look forward to seeing Kilgore again in a few weeks! Hard to beat a good team twice! Good luck to Kilgore in the playoffs!2 points

No, starters played all the way ... Garrison fumbled twice in the 2d half ... Timpson scored on big plays .... still scratching my head why we would kick off to Bussey .... we kicked to him twice, he ran one back for a TD, almost ran the second one back ... smh ... it was a tough physical game .... we were able to run on their defense pretty consistently ... but the big plays killed us ....2 points

Honestly you can’t expect too much less out of this game. It is a great rivalry. These two always play hard against each other. I expected Timpson to win by a little more but it’s not surprising. Congratulations to the bears on an undefeated regular season. Region 3 has some tough teams top to bottom.2 points

On another note. CH band took second place in 4a yesterday in Waco! I know they have worked so hard this year to compete at that level! Also have a heck of a director.2 points

Yea, just viewed as a canceled game. So winning percentage technically gives Longview the title. Very fun 9th grade race this year.2 points

Even though Ross is the focal point and I take absolutely nothing away from him and what he has accomplished. But Rollins our #2 back could definitely handle the load, also I think our passing game is very under rated.2 points

man, in the 90s, we didn't care if it was lightning unless it was a flash bang where we felt in danger. However, back then, a kid getting killed by negligence of the coaching staff ignoring weather signs didn't make national news or blow up Twitter.2 points

Congrats to Longview's JV and 9th B on their undefeated seasons and district championships. The 'surprise' tonight was Lufkin 9th topping Lancaster 9th. This also means that Longview 9th A brings home the district championship.2 points
