  1. Congrats to Christian Heritage Classical School in Longview for winning the Tapps Division 3 Six-Man State Football Championship today over Bracken Christian School by a score of 36-20. It’s their first state title in school history.

  3. And for the record: there is no such thing as "running up the score" in the fourth round of the State playoffs. Granted, it's best practices to pull your starters once a decisive W is assured (to protect your starters), but sportsmanship is not a factor. There's absolutely no reason to not run your offense and not try to score with your backups.

  5. Very good interview by coach Gibson. If my boy wasn't playing for Surratt and Co., I sure wouldn't mind him playing for a guy like Gibson. He seems genuine and a great motivator.

  8. I had the privilege of seeing CHS and ETHS several times this season. They both had well coached, respectful, and talented teams. It was great to see their development over the season. Congratulations to both!

  9. Both Parties were compromised. President Trump has been purging The Republican Party. The Dems are the easy to see compromised party. Opinion now: The most dangerous are the compromised Republicans.

  10. Yeah, it’s a dumb mindset. Like around here for example, when Lufkin loses a softball, volleyball, or basketball game to one of the smaller schools next to us (like Hudson or central) people flip out and automatically assume we must not be very good. Even though they will be ranked in the top 10 of the 3A and 4A rankings at the time lol… I mean, If you wanna discredit your own program just so you can bash mine, thanks I guess? Lmao.

  11. Hopefully we get the same focused DAWG team that showed up the last time they played in Marshall.

  12. One of them was the ill advised throw by Cuff across his body out of his own end zone that went between two defenders on the money and hit Manning right in the numbers. Both of the Gilmer defenders fell down and Manning was still up and just dropped it. That would’ve been a 90 yard touchdown pass had he caught the ball, because there were no defenders between he and the goal line and no defender close enough to catch him. Paddie dropped a slant near the end of the first half that would’ve put the Dawgs with a 1st & goal inside the Gilmer 5, but he dropped it. That game could’ve looked a lot differently on the scoreboard and we all left there feeling kind of “meh” about the performance and we won by three touchdowns. I think we are spoiled, and expect perfection all the time.

  13. @TopDog96 is entitled to his opinion like MH and banshee, but I do agree with them. The Dawgs were a little off Friday night, and we can also give credit to Gilmer’s defense as being some of the reason the Bulldogs weren’t clicking the entire game. What happened when it was time to seal the deal, the offense got it done? The defense, whew, those boys have played so well this season, and did so again Friday. I do understand where TopDog is coming from, because everyone expected a big blowout. However, we will take the 21 point victory over the #2 ranked Buckeyes, and move on to the next quality opponent in the Pleasant Grove Hawks. Go Dawgs!!!!!!!!!

  14. There’s a large portion of East Texas that sees Longview as a large school and just assume we should be dominating everybody in every sport. Makes no sense to me.

  15. Hi friends.. I wanted to give a quick update for Cooper this week. Cooper has been experiencing headaches and stomach pain. He has been able to communicate this to his doctors using signs and answering yes or no questions. His doctors are working diligently to figure out the cause of this and a treatment plan. He has been working hard in speech therapy. He even was able to have a conversation with one of his doctors. It is amazing how they are able to find ways for Cooper to communicate his needs and wants. Cooper's therapist are working on gaining flexion and mobility in his ankles so that he can eventually support his weight. Cooper is sleeping much better and we are so grateful for this. With Cooper spending a week in the hospital, he is having to work hard to makeup for time lost in rehab. Susanne and Terry are starting to research outpatient therapy centers that specialize in TBI. When the time comes for Cooper to leave TIRR (we do not know when this will be), he will continue his daily therapy through a outpatient facility. Specific Prayer Requests: Relief from headaches and stomach pain for Cooper. Muscle Relaxation and Flexibility Maximum Efforts and Outcomes for Cooper during therapy Wisdom for Cooper's Medical Team Wisdom and Peace for Terry and Susanne in choosing a outpatient therapy location Rest. peace and God's comfort for Cooper and the Reid Family Thank you all for your continued support and prayers. We see you and we feel your love. Our strength comes from the Lord and your prayers to him. Psalm 28:7-8 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. 8 The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.

  16. Playing down??? pshhhh. Most of the 3A and 4A basketball programs in East Texas are light years better than the 5A programs. MP and former 5A Sulphur Springs have been the best in these parts. playing down shows people have no idea what they are talking about.

  19. Respectfully disagree. An 80-6 nondistrict blowout against Palookaville Homeschool Academy is equivalent to a scrimmage against your own JV scout team. An 80-6 playoff blowout against the defending state champ in the fourth-round of the playoffs is a remarkable accomplishment.

  21. From a girls stand point, we were literally getting blown out by these schools last season. Timpson - In 2021, lost by 21!!! This season, lost by 4 after leading the entire game until the final minute. Nacogdoches - In 2021, lost by 14, first loss to Lady Dragons in 21 years. This season, won by 12. Pittsburg - In 2021, lost by 30!! This season, won by 2. Pleasant Grove - In 2021, lost by 17. This season, won by 22. Regardless of competition, they've made a tremendous turnaround in just a single season. We're not expecting to be state champs or anything, heck I'm not even expecting to be district champs for either side. But competitive is what we've been missing the last two seasons. Fun to see their hard work paying off.

  26. In the 80's it was both music and reruns of black sitcoms. I remember watching it with friends who had cable. In the 90's is when they began to expand further into music and movies with Starz! .

  27. Come on man, we've evolved from the white college, white tv channel argument. Those 2 things are why black colleges and BET had to be created. That's common knowledge man. As for white community, there's no such thing as white culture but there's definitely a white community.

  30. Believe it or not, I was 2 - 0 as an amateur before I joined the Air Force in 1975 ... I was 17 - 1 boxing as an amateur in the military .... my first military bout, I TKOed a kid that was a two time Pan Am medalist, one gold medal, he just missed making the U.S. Olympic team in 76 .... I got knocked out in my last amateur fight in the 2nd round ... I know I was winning the fight, next thing I remember I was sitting on a stool in the corner and they told me the fight was over .... never put a pair of boxing gloves on after that ... I was 23 ....

  33. 80-6 is 80-6 regardless of when the game is played. There is always a sportsmanship factor— don’t care if It’s underwater polo or double Chinese checkers with a poodle.

  36. Exactly. That's all we can ask for. Obviously *hoping* for greatness, maybe someday... but with the athletes we have walking the halls at Longview High, there's absolutely no reason to not at least be competitive.

  37. Mart is a Machine. They have Tradition and expect to win. Thats hard to beat. They aren't unbeatable but it takes a lot of luck, great athletes, the right play calls and willing ness to give 100% till the clock reads 0. in the last 7 years they have a total of 8 losses. That is an incredible job at a small school where talent can be so fluctuant. The coaching staff has done a n amazing job in mart. the last 7 years losses are he same as the previous 3 years to that combined. They have 16 losses in 10 years. Good luck Lovelady.

  41. The issue for Rockdale is going to be talent. The incoming senior class is solid, but other than that I feel they collectively have the worst combined talent in the district, 7th-12th. Cameron's JH was not great this year and outscored them by over 100 points. It's going to be hard to win on a consistent level unless they get more transfers, which is the reason they won a state championship in 2017. Growth is expected.
