My advice to Longview is score and don’t quit scoring… bleeding the clock is not an option. You give Aledo the ball in clutch time, THEY WILL SCORE.6 points

I've mention this and I dont really want to bring it up but Aledo has an uphill battle. Yeah LV is ranked #1. Yeah they have an elite running game. Yeah they have a defense that averages giving up less than 10 ppg. Yeah they have a cult following that travels well. Yeah LV has an extra day rest. Yeah the game is outside. Yeah its gonna rain. But the thing I am most concerned with is the Denton Ryan curse. Round 1- Denton Ryan loses Red Oak Round 2- Red Oak loses to Abilene Round 3- Abilene loses to Burleson Centennial Round 4- Burleson Centennial loses to Aledo This trend is very real.5 points

I have not but I went to Osan AFB in Songton Bok, S.Korea for a delivery. Rode on a KC135, a C141 transport and an Osprey . Good stuff. Ate some dried squid jerky and hot kimchi and developed a taste for soju.5 points

A worthy honor, and certainly a moral victory they build on for next season. I only hope Longview can help them achieve this feat. ;)5 points

Glen Rose has some dudes. Their QB is always good with a big arm. Tough WRs. Good football IQ. Where they falter is in competition. Sorry, playing out here in DFW does not prepare you like playing in ETX does. It's just a different ballgame. I miss ETX football. I don't miss ETX pay. I make $30,000 more than the head athletic trainer at Marshall right now. You can say "cost of living" but seriously... Anyway, we have dudes out here, just not dudes at every school like you see in East Texas.5 points

I actually think Glen Rose will have some early success with their up tempo offense vs this Carthage D. They are bound to hit a home run over the top as well. I see this being a 7-10 point game at the half. Carthage will make their normal adjustments and pull away in the second half. The Carthage D will get a couple timely turnovers as Glen Rose is forced to throw more than they want to close the gap. I’ll go with a 45-24 final and Carthage takes another step closer to #9.5 points

Crazy. When I played for Longview in 2004, I remember we beat Marshall (4A finalist), Evangel (state winner in Louisiana), Monroe Neville (State Semifinalst in Louisiana), and Tyler Lee (D-1 State Champs)...4 points

Leslie McAdoo Gordon @McAdooGordon · 25m Pearl Harbor Day. 81 years ago today. Over 2,000 Americans lost their lives. If Tatum wasn't a RB, he could be a P5 WR if he wanted. You should also see him play LB. He's a freak! The dude is just filthy talented.4 points

Take note of the teams still playing, and then again of the ones in Arlington next week. You'll notice something, the vast majority will look exactly alike. It's a discipline issue, and yes, it's a small thing, but small things make the difference between teams sitting at home and those still playing this time of year.4 points

Co-sign on this. We may very well run Aledo off the field (I doubt it), but it won't be because we outlasted or out-disciplined them. Leave those expectations at the door. We might out-talent or out-speed them. But we won't out-condition them. Alternatively: if we lose, it will be because we lost focus and composure. The only team stopping Longview, is Longview.3 points

In the words of Michael Irving on First Take, "Pressuring a QB changes the outcome of game." IMO Aledo's bread and butter is their QB. Nothing is really mentioned about any other talented position, although they have a few weapons. If Longview shut's him down, I promise you, the dynamics of this game will change QUICKLY, and I promise you, Longview's defense is more than capable of doing just that 'applying pressure...' I don't see this game being as close as some speculate---I see Longview pulling away in the 3rd quarter. I don't think Aledo has the stamina to keep up with Longview ALL 4qtrs... If LV and Guyer win that would mean all 3 of Aledo's losses are to state finalist/champions.3 points

The distance of the trip is irrelevant for Chapel Hill. They have played in Houston (which is a drive) multiple times in the past two years, and have had multiple game day and game time changes, and even bus/traffic issues that have put them at games late. Discipline will be key for Chapel Hill. NO team Boerne has faced compares to the competitive teams in East Texas. The key for Boerne will be how they will defend the very physical and fast players CH has. Unfortunately, you can't coach athletic ability, only skill. Either they have the speed or they don't. And...they don't.3 points

No, that's ridiculous and where a lot of schools go wrong. Got to stick with coaches over the long term unless there is substantial reason to fire, even with teams less successful than Timpson. "Looking" at the coaching staff that's taking you to a level you've never been before, no way. The greater issue for Timpson, even if they were to lose, holding on to coaching staff that has been to semi-final for 3-4 straight years because opportunities will come their way.3 points

He values free expression.....the Twitter files he has released clearly show that "private" company was colliding with dimnuts to actively interfere in an election......hate speech is free speech......if someone doesn't want to see it or hear it, they have the ability to ignore it.......3 points

It's entirely possible that *I* am the one who just doesn't get it. But I'm hard pressed to imagine a scenario where the "Who Gives A Damn Bowl" makes more money hosting Slippery Rock (6-6) vs. East Popcorn State (7-5), rather than being one of the first-round games of the "Playoff Bowl" where you have #1 seed powerhouse against a #16 seed upstart.3 points

I would be totally happy with that, as I know this GR team does have some talent and they are going to want it as much or more than any other team Carthage has faced this year!2 points

Mr. Bear, here's the deal... this comment is of the same nature as what Waskom and San Augustine folks were posting leading up to their game(s) with Refugio, saying Refugio isn't "completely ready for what's about to ensue." They talked as though nobody had ever seen a team like they were going to field. Everyone knows how those games ended. Point is, the smack talk is fun, but it's always good to temper with a little humility. Also, those teams had more talent and speed than Refugio, but they were missing something. My opinion is 1) they weren't quite as well coached (no slight to their coaches, but Refugio's are exceptional) 2) they didn't have the championship culture and mindset embedded in their kids and it's impossible to measure how much that helps. I'm sure there's much more, but those stand out to me. For this game... I think Refugio will find a way to win, but I know Timpson has what it takes and it could easily go their way. If Timpson wins, it will be because they fielded an exceptional team that came together and got it done, along with a great game plan from their coaches. I'll be surprised if Bussey doesn't get at least 2 long runs on them, likely a pick, and also Howard I would expect to have at least one big play. I'm born and raised East Texan and have said many times I would like to see an East Texas team get this done. I'll be at this game and enjoy seeing some great 2A football. I'll be happy for Timpson if they make it happen this year. It's beyond old having R4 saying again, "same old R3," but up to now, they've earned the right to say that. Tomorrow could start a new era.2 points

Too many girls 'cut' to deal with anxiety or stress or just life, and that was my first thought about this, and that does call for mental health assistance that can be about learning coping strategies, and it isn't necessarily suicidal ideation, but if it was a suicide attempt, I hope that they get her some needed help short term and long term.2 points

I don’t know about easier schedules for which team but one thing I do know, you better be running the speed limit entering and leaving Franklin. Them boys don’t play around.2 points

Glen Rose is a solid team. We played them last year and were skull dragged through the turf for 4 quarters. But I can also tell you that Glen Rose hasn’t seen talent like Carthage this season. Dawgs by 202 points

I think like Aledo Alumni said earlier, the passing attack for Aledo could be hampered by the weather this weekend. So, I think an almost one dimensional Aledo plays into LV favor. We know LV wants to pound the rock till you’re almost dead and then they deliver the kill shot with Jalen Hale or from what I’ve seen Tatum is outstanding as well at the slot position.2 points

Respectfully disagree about the uniforms. Look good, feel good, play good. Yes , old school . To me the uniform dissimilarities are part of the me generation and needs to be “ nipit in the bud”.2 points
