I mean, that is the one point they're actually right on. We've struggled historically against the top programs, during their runs of dominance (which is why they were on their runs of dominance). And when I say the top programs, I mean the Aledos of the world. Lake Travis, the last two years Denton Ryan, Katy, Permian, Plano, even Westlake if you want to throw them in there. We've talked about it at length in the past but Longview is a program that easily could have been up there with the likes of the amount of titles that Carthage currently has if things had fallen the opposite way. Who knows what happens if Longview doesn't turn it over 4 times and give up two touchdowns in the final quarter against #2 Richardson in 67. Who knows what happens if Permian doesn't nail a 60+ yard field goal in 75. Who knows what happens if Sherman doesn't block a punt then score on next play in 76. Who knows what happens if Longview doesn't fumble the ball away against Bryan in 84 at home. Who knows what happens if the officials call an interception by David Henderson instead of giving a touchdown to Plano in 86. Who knows what happens if Longview doesn't miss an extra point against Killeen Ellison in 96. Who knows what happens if Lufkin misses a game winning field goal at the end of the contest in 02. Who knows what happens if Longview's Chris Ivory doesn't fumble it four times against Lufkin in 04. Who knows what happens if Decker doesn't miss the chip shot field goal against South Garland in 05. Who knows what happens if Longview doesn't have the field goal at the end of the game blocked against Garland in 06. Who knows what happens if even just one little thing happened differently in that first half against Lake Travis in 09 (I still think we were the better team). Who knows what happens if Longview just runs the clock out against Denton Guyer in 10 instead of snapping it with 10/12 seconds left. Who knows what happens if something as small as the wind was 3/4 miles less against Spring DeKaney in 11. Who knows what happens if doesn't give up two defensive touchdowns against A&M Consolidated in 13. Who knows what happens if Longview is able to punch in a score against Lake Ridge in the dying seconds in 15. Who knows what happens if Kessler makes a field goal to win the game vs Midway in 17. Who knows what happens if Longview is able to make an extra point vs Jesuit in 19. Obviously every program has a ton of what ifs. But the times they take place for the Lobos has been quite high across our 100+ years of football, specifically in the last 55/60 years. That said, none of that has to do with this year and this team. Aledo is facing a damn good team tomorrow, just as we are.

It's not being a troll. He was just calling you out for saying 'Refugio ain't ready for what's about to ensue.' I even tried telling you Refugio had seen it all and was prepared for anything, but just like many R3 fans of years gone by, you thought you knew better with ridiculous statements like that. Timpson (really Bussey) was as good as advertised, but Refugio's culture of winning, never believing they are out of a game, and better coaching adds up to a team (kids) that knows how to close out a game when the pressure is on. They expect to win the big ones and know how to do it. Timpson on the other hand has been riding the coat tails of Bussey and he just didn't make enough big plays last night. It's no knock on him. Without him, they win maybe two playoff games. He just needed more out of his teammates and coaches last night.

Agree, 100%. Glen Rose is MUCH better than I thought going in and we did not stop their rushing attack. Then, we fumble 17 times and they took full advantage. GR kept us from having success running the ball until we absolutely had to do it, and we got it done. Ughh, GR was definitely the best team we have played this year. Their QB is a stud and we all feel bad for him. The best thing we can do is to go win state next week so Glen Rose can say they almost beat the state champions. Glen Rose made us earn it tonight. The Dawgs somehow playing so sloppy were able to survive and advance. It was ugly, but a win is a win and we got past a really hungry, well oiled machine.

If Bussey doesn't slip and Timpson makes that first down, they would have chewed a couple or three more minutes off the clock and probably scores again. Refugio wouldn't have had time to score and this thread would be nothing but praise for Timpson and their coaches ... none of this takes away from Timpsons accomplishments and great season .... only two teams get past the semis ....Timpson should be proud of what they have accomplished the past three years .... it's a heck of a lot better than 98% of the 2A DI schools that are sitting in the stands watching ....

The sad fact is that nomatter who a head coach is, there will always be distractors. Surratt has some in Carthage. Allen has some in Highland Park. Traylor had some in Gilmer. Most of those have never played or are living their lives through their kids.

Coach Therwhanger has talented kids left. Dude's like 40-3 the past 3 seasons and team was very much in 3 semifinals. I'd let the guy do his thang.....know what i'm sayin?

You do realize he was coaching against the best coach in 2a, possibly the state as a whole, so yes, they were outcoached last night. Herring is on pace to be the winningest coach in Texas HS history if he chooses to keep going. Timpson's coach has taken them where they've never been before. Try to take a deep breath and enjoy the success Timpson is having and realize losing to a Herring coached team isn't unique to Therwanger. The best thing Timpson could do is work to ensure Therwanger doesn't take a job offer to a bigger and more lucrative school, because they will come calling with the success he has had these last 3 years.

I think it has been a while since Carthage has played at the The Star. Give yourself some extra time walking to the stadium. Usually a good 5-10 minute walk getting to the gates and then you have to empty pockets before going in and through a metal detector. I don’t think they accept cash at concession stands. If you want to eat before the game their is a lot around stadium but pretty expensive. If Carthage continues playing the way they have been they will be moving on. Good luck and safe travels.

Well, Doomer’s ex-girlfriend’s baby daddy’s half brother-in-law’s former cellmate’s sister’s step-cousin’s mama was in there getting her triple scoop of rocky road and she said that was a load of hooey.

1. It's just my opinion, I'm not trying to convince anyone. 2. If you're offended then that's on you. 3. After Saturday I very well could have a change of heart and think this LV team is better. 4. Also that WR just might be the best Aledo has faced this year. We will find out. The great thing is no matter how many times it gets said LV wins by (x) or Aledo can't x,y, or z, we are all going to find out soon. If Aledo loses I'm going to congratulate y'all and cheer for y'all to win state. But if Aledo wins, I'm just going to tell y'all how good of a program y'all have and 'like' every single wrong prediction that had LV beating Aledo. It's all good. Like I said earlier, no matter the result we have had a successful season.

Got to eat my crow…. I picked the Bears by 20…… congratulations to the Bobcats good luck next week…….. but here’s my opinion for what it’s worth….. two great teams…. Two great coaching staffs…. 2 sidelines full of athletes….. one team no mistakes….. one team continually putting themselves behind the chains and couldn’t overcome….. not out coached not out played…. Just shot themselves in the foot continuously for 3 and a half quarters….. got to grow from this experience and gain discipline and jump that R4 hurdle next year!!!!! I’m all in for Da Bears!!!

Glen Rose has a good offense that I don't feel has been tested yet. With that being said, Carthage dB's are great in normal coverage situations but not so great on broken plays. Athletic QBs cause problems for us. One dlinemen will penetrate on just about every pass play but if they don't get that tackle it may cause some issues. Also, I imagine it's been GR team has been special since the 8th grade and the town and these boys have been waiting for their moment which makes them a dangerous team. I can see them scoring on the first two drives off of adrenaline and scheme and may even lead in the beginning but I think Carthage settles in after that. At the end of the day Carthage has the size, discipline and the jimmy and Joes'. I'm sure Surratt will have all 3 of our dynamic backs on the field at the same time quite a bit as wings and wideouts. GR Will be high on emotion and will hit Carthage in the mouth. I just feel that we will answer with an even harder one. Carthage 42-21. Safe travels.

Timpson is a really good team and should be back in the Semifinal next year. But "without a doubt", Refugio is better. Region 4 is better. It has been proven over and over again on the filed with no room for debate. Unfortunately for Timpson, it sounds like we can expect Refugio to be better next year which will result in the same result as we have got for the last decade or so. It is quite shocking that folks keep coming back and making outrageous statements about teams they never beat. You would think they would keep quiet till they get it done on the field but they just keep popping off and then call you "troll" if you point out their foolish statements.

RBs combine for about 60-70 yards..............QB gets about 90-100...............Just a total guess, and will not argue with someone else's guess/opinion.................And will not lose any sleep if my guesses are not close.

Regarding "The Slip," since many have pointed out Timpson perhaps wins without it. The first down marker was just inside the 28 yd line. Bussey slipped down at the 33 yd line. The commentator says, "Bussey had nothing but clear sailing in front of him," which wasn't the case. Refugio had 3-4 defenders at the 29 directly in front of him. We can speculate forevermore, but certainly a good chance those defenders make the tackle and we have the same result. We'll never know. What we do know is that Refugio took possession with 3:44 remaining and effectively drove the ball down for the win. During this drive they had 5 players touch the ball on 9 plays, and a 6th player kicking the field goal, taking their first lead of the game with only 9 seconds left. TEAM.

It would make sense. Veteran coach. SEC ties. Not a threat for his job. Offense is better than his motorcycle skills.

You can’t define a team based on one game. Timpson has a great team but it just went the other way it happens. It makes me think of Longview out of all the success they have you would think they would have just as many state rings as Carthage has but they’re are some great lobos teams of the past who didn’t get it done. It Doesn’t make them a bad team. Timpson will be back next year I believe and hopefully they will get it done.

I'm pretty much in agreement with this statement. It takes a great effort by the entire team(including coaching staff) to win this many games in a season, and then to be driving for the knockout punch to put the nail in the coffin when something totally unexpected happens that causes a complete shift in the flow of the ending. Kudos to Refugio for taking full advantage with an excellent long pass to their speed burner Campbell.....and special kudos to him personally. It is what it is......highly charged playoff football between two excellent and highly skilled football teams at this level. Great game.

What I don't understand is they really never got Vosky Howard going it was just Bussey left Bussey right Bussey up the middle. IMO they rely too much on Bussey which is like you say a coaching problem. Its crazy to me with all these "playmakers" Timpson had the only one making plays was Bussey I was really impressed with Howard but they underutilized him.

So Bussey the only one who scored for Timpson?? I bet Refugio was peeing down their leg when it was 14-0. If you saw the game then you know it can be said that Refugio can thank Campbell and go ahead and thank the little kicker. Bussey got those gashing runs with the help of his line, so looks like a pretty good team to me. Refugio was gashed by Bussey because Refugio obviously knew there was waaay more to worry about than him. If that wasn’t the case, they’d have keyed on him and shut him down completely but they couldn’t. Not taking anything away from Refugio, great win. But if Bussey doesn’t slip on the wide open 4th and 3, they most likely bleed clock and Refugio might not win this one. Bussey is a great player on a team every bit as good as Refugio’s.

I think you missed this one. Brock totally dominated up front on both sides of the ball last night. Heck of a year koff, the future is very bright over there. There is a lot of returning talent for next year. It looks like you lose some linemen but if you get those needs filled you will be right back in the same spot next year.

I think Timpson was physical enough to win this game, but the game certainly shifted momentum when Busby slipped on that 4th down play, if he gets that first down, I believe Timpson uses up the clock and scores the winning TD, just my opinion.

Timpson should be embracing their coaching staff. Them people at timpson turn on their coaches faster than any town in texas i swear. What was that coaches name that coaches Patrick earl back when garrison won state? He didn’t win the big one and they were in such a hurry to turn on him and what did it get timpson? So many awful seasons afterwards. Y’all are playing with fire taking digs at the best coaching staff Timpson has ever had. Just my 2 cents
