  1. Congrats to the Lobos on another outstanding season. You people ragging on Coach King are idiots. Get real. He's elite.

  2. Personally I think you are a little over zealous with banning but thats just my opinion.

  3. Y’all gonna get romped next time we see us and you know it. On our other sports, lol. 12-1 in basketball, boys soccer has been four round deep each of the last two years. Baseball, k. Good luck attempting to not fail in D1 again.

  5. I watched this game and it looked like CH came in expecting to win and Borne did their homework and shut them down. CH to me was looking right past them

  6. Saying CH overlooked Boerne isn’t accurate or a fair statement to Boerne. It gives the idea that if CH had focused more on Boerne the outcome could have been different. These coaches and players worked really hard this past week. CH runs the football, tries to hit the edges and get in open space. CH hasnt ever relied on the passing game to be their bread and butter, and obviously there’s reason for than. Boerne was just a better team, and that’s why they won the game. It wasn’t lack of focus, lack of discipline, the long drive, or any of the other things that have been thrown around. Boerne was just the better team with a very good defense and elite o-line. everybody all of a sudden throwing around hash tags and don’t even know what the meaning of the hash tag is. Almost like they are happy a fellow East Texas team has come up short of their goal. I’ve never once rejoiced in the shortcomings of another East Texas team representing this part of the state this deep in the playoffs. The hashtag is from last year when LBJ said the reason they would beat CH was because they were the fastest team in the state. They were the fastest team in the state, but CH is fast too. In that game they proved that they could play with LbJ and were very close to a SC. That became the goal this entire season to make it past the point of last year and play all 16 games. Having goals like that is a noble thing, and doesn’t mean a team is arrogant, it means they have high expectations for themselves. CH got beat yesterday, and they played hard, but still got beat. They didn’t get out schemed or out prepared, they got physically beat. Boerne did a great job. The rest of y’all that find joy in the loss of a fellow East Texas team can get a life. Some of y’all haven’t had a team playing for weeks and you come out of the hillbilly sticks to a CH thread out of nowhere to be a troll.

  8. History says Carthage…I don’t have a dog or Texan in the fight, I would like to see a 28-31 type of game that comes down to a last minute td or fg after forcing a stop and having to drive the ball 80 yards or so…kind of like what Gunter did… just make it a great game…

  9. Slightly above average for Aledo standards? GTHO of here. State championship caliber teams is what Aledo holds as their standard and they are in the freaking state championship. Some of you blow hard couch potatoes need to learn when to keep your damned mouth shut. You sound like idiots

  10. This is a public warning telling you to stop trolling this thread. If you can’t help yourself or have something sarcastic to say to me, I highly suggest keeping it to yourself or you can have SC week off

  13. Very hard fought physical game by LV. Yall should be extremely proud of yalls team. They battled and kept the pressure on. Cant say enough good things about yalls defense!

  14. That Lobo defense was so dang good! Cant say that enough.

  15. I thought this was Longview’s best team ever? Y’all just lost to a team that’s slightly above average for Aledo standards and playing their first year in 5A-D1.

  16. Yep. Both were double covered. I was impressed with aledo. They were as good as advertised.

  17. It's ridiculous. If they don't want him I propose a trade: our HC and 1 varsity RB and 3 DBs for Coach King.

  18. You don't know that kid. Shut your mouth. He's the first one consoling a teammate when he makes a mistake. You wanna start talking about kids? His parents and coaches are taking care of him. He plays with confidence. Ain't no problem.

  22. If the team is winning, doesn't matter at all, take 'em or leave 'em. For a losing team, coach has to be crazy to expend any effort tracking or giving out stickers. He and his assistants should use their time and efforts getting better. With a little more thought, it's not something I would do. Seems like stickers is something we do for kids in elementary, but HS kids should be beyond that.

  23. Not sure why Longview didn't call a timeout right after the sack.

  24. Lol right? Players missed tackles and botched a punt rush. “Outcoached”. Such an abstract thing to say with nothing to back it up. Whatever. Confirmation bias is strong.

  25. Until Larry & Mark break out the cell phones with still shots of plays and text Coach Surratt mid-game, they are light years behind Gilmer guys on the homerism scale!
    2 points
  26. Our Gilmer Dudes are way, way way, worse and it ain't even a close comparison. The Carthage announcers will have to step up their homerism considerably, to compete with our broadcasts.

  27. My thoughts on this subject is that you want teams to hate you. It makes them play harder and better which in return holds your team more accountable.

  28. Yeah you right but gr is sitting at the house next week and the Carthage fans can be hated for one more week..Next? Simply put,Carthage can play a crappy game and still make Jerry's house, and people wonder how they do it?

  30. With success comes envy. Only teams that are unconditionally loved by their area are Cinderella Stories. Wasn't a single person in East Texas secretly wishing for Harmony to lose last night. Let em win a couple titles and be a deep playoff contender consistently.....Harmony would be the next added to the hate list. It is what it is. I will say though.....in the Texas High School Scoreboard Facebook group.....yalls fans on there make it real easy to hate on yall lol. Making excuses in a win like "it really shoulda been 42-14 but we turned it over too much". That'll gain some hate quick. Lol , I mean....that game was one unforced turnover on the last drive from being GR vs Wimberly in the final. A whole lot of factors came into play to make that ending the way it was...turnovers by both played a key role to the finish. And yes Carthage woulda faired much better without the turnovers. But turnovers are apart of the game. Glen Rose got hot in the 2nd half and that stretch was worrisome for yall fans....I know it had to be. Hell, I was worried watching it on NFHS and I ain't even from Carthage lol. Bottom line....the Dawgs prevailed.....its in the books.....and #9 in on the horizon.

  32. I aint got no giddy up. Been off my hitch for 3 days. Was so damn ready to sleep in and catch up. Day 1, my wife's little Shih Tzu/Pug mix woke me up at 2:30am scratching his back on my bedroom door and grunting loud as hell. Couldnt go back to sleep. Day 2.....Dog does it again at 3:30am. Day 3, my 7 year old throws a fit at 4:30am cuz we won't let her get in the bed with us after waking up and going to the bathroom. Couldn't fall back asleep, again. I swear I'd drown the little sucker if I could get away with it. The dog.....not the kid. I kinda like the kid. The dog? Let's just say I've day dreamed many ways to "accidentally" let him either run away or have a little play time in the street. I hate that little worthless ball of hair almost as much as he hates me.
    2 points
  33. Yup. There's so much hate for them which is another indicator. It's lonely at the top sometimes. People are just used to Surratt and the Bulldogs winning and while Carthage reloads yearly, it takes a special kind of coach and staff to implement a program that is able to do this. They run the same offensive scheme from 7th grade all the way to varsity. Those kids have lived and breathed that offense for 3 to 5 years and know exactly what to do the very first day they step foot on the field as a varsity player. Surratt is in elite company as a coach and has the most impressive resume of all time as a Texas High School football coach in my opinion. He's tied for 2nd all time in most Texas State Championships won...thats not the impressive part though. Surratt has won 8 titles in a mere 15 seasons of coaching. The only other coach with 8 Titles won them over the span of a 45 year coaching career. The most Texas titles won by a coach is 9 and that was over the span of a 43 year coaching career. It's not likely that Surratt coaches high school football for 43 to 45 years lol, but if he did.....he'd be on pace to win roughly 3 times as many titles as the two greatest Texas High School football coaches in the history of the game in terms of titles won. And that, my friend, is the impressive part. When you break it down and look at it that way....what Surratt is doing is just unrealistic. We're all just used to him winning a large amount of titles and it doesn't seem like anything special to anyone anymore at this point, it's just expected now. But its not until you run the numbers, do you see how unbelievably great his coaching career truly is. It's just insane. *Disclaimer* - I'm not riding Surratt's jock......I'm simply just giving credit where I see greatness.

  34. Glad the Dawgs were able to win and advance but…. Not a fan of the Star at least not a fan when the Dawgs play there. They seem to always struggle with turnovers in that place…. Odd especially since they practice indoors

  35. SOC was very very impressive again tonight against Argyle. Argyle came into the game averaging 38 points per game. SOC held them to zero touchdowns and 2 FG’s, with the second FG coming off a turnover that setup Argyle deep inside SOC territory. Watching film on Argyle I started to sway back towards the Bears, Argyle doesn’t do anything tricky or flashy on offense they just line up in 11 personnel and do what they do running the ball. However, running into the teeth of that SOC defense is just not how you’re going to beat them and being predictable is even worse. SOC has gone through a gauntlet of teams so far this run; Lovejoy, Midlothian Heritage, Melissa, and Argyle. Next up, PNG and this game is going to be amazing. Last year, SOC/LH broke the 5A D2 attendance record and I believe next week the record will be broken again. PNG will travel with a very very very large crowd and of course SOC will have the entire city of Dallas out for the party. Can’t wait!

  36. yea the D for Brock is their strength. Crazy thing..The whole D is back next year. I love both these teams and since I do coaches shows with both coaches, I respect the staffs so much. This is a on possession game for sure and I could see 24-21 being the score
    2 points
  37. And I don't think Brock is 15-0 with Franklin's schedule either. Brock's offense has had long stretches of being inconsistent this season and even in the playoffs
    2 points
  38. I mean, that is the one point they're actually right on. We've struggled historically against the top programs, during their runs of dominance (which is why they were on their runs of dominance). And when I say the top programs, I mean the Aledos of the world. Lake Travis, the last two years Denton Ryan, Katy, Permian, Plano, even Westlake if you want to throw them in there. We've talked about it at length in the past but Longview is a program that easily could have been up there with the likes of the amount of titles that Carthage currently has if things had fallen the opposite way. Who knows what happens if Longview doesn't turn it over 4 times and give up two touchdowns in the final quarter against #2 Richardson in 67. Who knows what happens if Permian doesn't nail a 60+ yard field goal in 75. Who knows what happens if Sherman doesn't block a punt then score on next play in 76. Who knows what happens if Longview doesn't fumble the ball away against Bryan in 84 at home. Who knows what happens if the officials call an interception by David Henderson instead of giving a touchdown to Plano in 86. Who knows what happens if Longview doesn't miss an extra point against Killeen Ellison in 96. Who knows what happens if Lufkin misses a game winning field goal at the end of the contest in 02. Who knows what happens if Longview's Chris Ivory doesn't fumble it four times against Lufkin in 04. Who knows what happens if Decker doesn't miss the chip shot field goal against South Garland in 05. Who knows what happens if Longview doesn't have the field goal at the end of the game blocked against Garland in 06. Who knows what happens if even just one little thing happened differently in that first half against Lake Travis in 09 (I still think we were the better team). Who knows what happens if Longview just runs the clock out against Denton Guyer in 10 instead of snapping it with 10/12 seconds left. Who knows what happens if something as small as the wind was 3/4 miles less against Spring DeKaney in 11. Who knows what happens if doesn't give up two defensive touchdowns against A&M Consolidated in 13. Who knows what happens if Longview is able to punch in a score against Lake Ridge in the dying seconds in 15. Who knows what happens if Kessler makes a field goal to win the game vs Midway in 17. Who knows what happens if Longview is able to make an extra point vs Jesuit in 19. Obviously every program has a ton of what ifs. But the times they take place for the Lobos has been quite high across our 100+ years of football, specifically in the last 55/60 years. That said, none of that has to do with this year and this team. Aledo is facing a damn good team tomorrow, just as we are.

  40. There were 10 or more Dawg players went straight to the Glen Rose players and Coach Surratt went straight to 13. The whole Glen Rose team has all the respect in the world from Dawg nation. I am the biggest Dawg homer in the world and I can promise you. I got the biggest dose of humble pie you ever saw. Glen Rose was by far the best team the Dawgs have played this year.

  41. Who said that? I think it’s obvious that SOC is very well coached. Beat an undefeated Aledo team on the way to a State Championship last year. Looks like they will repeat.

  42. I feel carthage had control of the LOS while passing. GR brought allot of pressure on runs and LBs played down hill

  43. Got bullied in this game. But without the terrible fumbles, Carthage walks off with it. Offense cannot put the defense in that kinda spot next week. Glen Rose is a damn good team. They were outsized and gave up some speed, but they kicked some butt. This is an eye opener. Maybe we put to bed the talk of this team being up there with the greatest in Carthage history. One more!!!
