Lufkin moved up to #20 in the 5A rankings. 15-1 in the last 16 games. Has been a pleasant surprise this year.

im sorry. that district with HP and the others i didn't see a playoff appearance. in this one though i can see Lufkin making the postseason.

Lufkin was going to make the playoffs in either district. We got something this year. You guys gonna see.

How long will it take after the hearing will the district get the answer?

I've heard the 21st but the appeal process takes place on the 20th in Austin if I'm not mistaken. I fully expect Lufkin to go 9-5A. Angleton is also appealing 9-5A to move to 11.

I think its literally a space issue...so if there's three booths and 4 broadcasts how do you determine the odd broadcast out?

My guess (and this is a guess) Mesquite stadium staff determined it based on the order of when the request was received

I think the HS broadcast should get priority but I get it.

Seems to me those arrangements should be made prior to gameday not on gameday.

Fair point. I guess I would like to know why Longview waited so late. Were they waiting to get permission from the UIL because Texanlive was broadcasting the game? Even then Texanlive knows Longview broadcast every game. I just think it could of been handled better but hey as long as you can make a dollar right.

Soooo why doesn’t your organization pay schools? Be the change you want to see in the world!

I agree- people should go to games. Some people live a long ways away and can’t.

Some people can't afford to go to games. If a school wants to broadcast the game for free on whatever day of the week they want then noone should be able to stop them. Longview being denied the press box to stream is just wrong.

bruh, your suggestion at that time would have been too risky and not made any sense because JT had no idea what the tie breaker situation would be.

What if JT would have tried to score and fumbled or threw an INT and Lufkin scores and win the game.   Also, there was 2 games left. Im sure JT thought they had a chance to compete in both games.  Win and all the other tie breaker stuff would have been irrelevant.

It would only make sense to try for tie breaker points during the last game, when you know 100 percent what the tie breaker scenario would be. Otherwise, you would have been risking a loss, which would making any tie breaker scenario pointless.

I could see that scenario unfolding and Lufkin was already checked out at that point. I would have sent a few deep shots to McFall. He surely would of made a play. Tyler absolutely botched that scenario. It's all about probability and statistics and that all points to Tyler should have went for a TD.

The whole entire scenario is weird.

JT beat Lufkin....but are in a worse situation than Lufkin scenario wise to get in.

I tried to tell people Tyler shouldn't have kneeled the ball vs Lufkin. It just didn't make any sense when the 3 way tie breaker was probably their best shot. Granted Lancaster probably beats Lufkin anyway making this point mute. I also don't think Forney is going to rest players and give Tyler a easy win. They will try to run it up Friday. That's just what they do.

I didn't actively follow him prior to him coming to ETX, but could tell through his interviews that he was different.

And then the resume was stupid impressive. To turn around one program is one thing, but to turn around another shows that he is a capable HC.

    Tyler got a good one.

Had to go back and confirm it but he was also the 49ers 1st RD pick coming out of Oklahoma St.

I feel like we consistently struggle to get accurate tiebreaker information.

I BELIEVE 17 points is the max point differential for our district (not that it really matters in this case).

    Right now, Lancaster is a +7, Lufkin is a -3, Tyler is a -4.

If Tyler loses out, they're out no matter what happens in the Lufkin/Lancaster game because they already are behind both squads.

If I remember correctly, the tiebreaker is just to eliminate teams out of the three way tiebreaker (could be wrong on that but that's what I remember...either about the 20/21 district or the 22/23 district). So if that's actually the case, Tyler would already be eliminated in a three way race and if Lufkin defeated Lancaster causing all teams to finish 3-4, Lufkin would go just with a win no matter the point amount.

If that's not the case, then I still think Lufkin would need to win by 5 as both would be tied at +2...but Lufkin would still hold the head to head against LT.

Just win by 6 to make it easier on everyone lol.

    Thank you.

Forney is a better team than McKinney North imo. And North has to go to Forney.....just don't see it personally.

Let's say Tyler loses out which is probably a likely scenario. Would we have to beat Lancaster by 6 points or would 5 points be enough? I'm just curious what the tie breakers are for a 3 way tie. I'm guessing point differential between the teams and if two teams are tied after that does it go head to head? If anyone knows the scenarios it's you lol

Who'd have thought that Tyler would be sitting at 6-2 right now?

Their two losses (McNorth and Lancaster) were by one score.

I was the first to say it. Woods was a very solid hire for Tyler. Whether they make the playoffs or not this year, this season probably exceeded most people's expectations. When I made my Tyler preview in the district thread that I no longer update (that's a different story), one of the first things that I said about Tyler was that they were 'interesting'.

Tyler is also fairly young across the board with more reinforcements on the way. Woods will have CUJO rolling next year, and definitely the year after.

Lufkin on the other hand seriously needs to clean house. It shouldve been done years ago to be honest. Tyler is not a more talented team than Lufkin at this point, but won the game. I've been to 3 Lufkin games this year including last night. That staff severely under utilizes what they have. You wouldn't even know that Lufkin has multiple D1 caliber WRs because:

    1. QB1 can't get them the ball, despite being a 3 year starter?

    2. I've seen 7 year olds on Madden with better play calling than Lufkin's OC. #18 had a huge mismatch the entire night and his number might've gotten called twice.

    3. The staff flat out does not know how to manage and utilize the talent that they have. There are even kids sitting on the sidelines, specifically in the '25 class that could've helped Lufkin a lot this year but, yeah.

It also seems like it's been at least since 2017 that I've seen a decent Lufkin OL. That alone needs to be addressed. You will not win games without winning in the trenches.

100% agree. My son told me that Green and #18 Preston were getting into on the sidelines last night. Preston was demanding the ball and Green was saying wait your turn. Talk about not having a feel for the game but he will be back next season doing the same stuff.

they ran a play on first down I believe. Its possible he thought about that then decided to take knee.  Too close of game to risk a Miami/Georgia Tech for a possible tie breaker set-up. You lose, and the tie breaker doesn't matter.  Plus, if you want in, go beat somebody.   They have a punchers chance against Longview and Forney.  That McKinney North loss hurts.

I agree go beat somebody and you're in but I still would of at least took a few shots at the end. Lufkin was already checked out at that point and you have the best player on the field in McFall. I'm glad you guys decided to kneel it but I definitely would of tried to tack one on lol. Longview is a completely different animal. I'll give you a punchers chance against Forney. But if we're just talking probability it would of just helped to have those points in your back pocket. Especially in 2 weeks if you look up and you see Lufkin beat Lancaster by a TD. I think we just need to beat them by 5 points and you guys lose out. For the record I'd be shocked if we beat Lancaster but I imagine it will be another close game for us.
