  1. 2 great coaches that have been apart of winning programs that know how to win. All of those coaches have different styles!!
  2. But if you stay in house.....give it to JB!
  3. I was thinking more along the lines of David Collins at Pine Tree. 2 years into Pine Tree and he went 4-6 this year. That is rarely done at PT if you know anything about their football program. He pushed Gilmer & Marshall to the brink this year, but he did not have the talent to outlast either team. He's done a wonderful job at Pine Tree; and, this Tatum gig could be fruitful for him as well as Tatum ISD. I'm sure Tatum can pay him what Pine Tree is paying him. Or you could go south a little bit a get Barry Bowman out of Center. He's a dawg at Coaching!! Turned Center around in 1 year and made it look easy. John Frazier at West Rusk would be a good one as well.....he's got that place rocking! Or Kurt Traylor. He's just as good of a coach as any head coach around here! Either way, there are several great local coaches that are a good fit for Tatum. I would be surprised if Tatum looked outside of East Texas for a coach!
  4. Plenty of solid head coaches in the area that would take this job. Including the coach of a team in yalls current football district!!! Next to Gilmer & Carthage....this is easily the best high school coaching job in East Texas!!
  5. Tatum may not have to look too far for their next head coach.....great candidate that has proven he can win! (Gregg County) And yes....Tatum has the money to pay him!
  6. Center had a solid looking JV basketball team last year too. I look for them to be really good this year. After all of that momentum from football I'm sure all of those kids are hungry to go out and make a good run in basketball too.
  7. This game will be the same caliber of game as the 2014 Gilmer/Gladewater game........I think Center has the athletes and the scheme that is built to beat this Gilmer team. It will be a close one and a good one for Black Friday!
  8. If they clean house at Texas, Charlie Strong will get hired ANYWHERE.....and Traylor will be able to go with him! Doubt he's interested in coaching at Lee while he still has children playing at Gilmer!
  9. This may be Spring Hill's big win of the year. Spring Hill 21 Tatum 7
  10. West Rusk is doing a great job this year, but Waskom is just too fast on defense. Waskom by 28
  11. I'm taking Center in this one. Looks like Bowman has it going in the right direction. May be the district championship game!
  12. Kudos to Coach Blankenship on keeping his winning ways going. Glad he's able to experience success after White Oak!
  13. MP DOES NOT have more talent than Pine Tree....at all! I'm not so sure that a convincing win in this game will dictate how the Pirates do against Hallsville........its been a while since PT beat the Bobcats. Hallsville has more athletes, more consistency in their coaching staff, and a lot more pride about themselves when they hit the field. Pine Tree can easily win this game this week but this MP team is a lot better than their team last year. The Pirates are much improved but they are still on a 5 game losing streak! Looking to the near future, you have to wonder about the QB situation at Pine Tree.....the way Collins likes to run this offense makes you understand what type of QB he needs and the question is...do they have that type of kid coming up? I agree that Collins is doing a much better job with the program than any coach I can remember in the past. It may not be showing in the win column right now, but Pine Tree is better off now than they were 3 years ago! Collins needs to win a few games in a bad way so he can get out of Pine Tree and get him a pretty good job elsewhere. He can still possibly go 5-5, make the playoffs and likely hit Ennis in the 1st round......but I'm sure he's focused on getting a win in district right now rather than looking ahead like I am. My prediction: Pine Tree 48 Mount Pleasant 21
  14. I think Gladewater gets back on track tonight to start out district. Interesting to see how this district will end up. I want to think I know how it will end but there ain't no telling. GW 35 Tatum 14
