There is an informational meeting for anyone interested in officiating football this fall with the TASO Tyler Chapter of Officials. Why officiate? (This will be my second year as a football official.) 1) Its fun! I enjoyed every moment 2) Great camaraderie with other officials 3) Exercise 4) Giving back to kids and communities 5) Great training! It opened my eyes to new aspects of football that were amazing. 6) You get paid... Good "extra money" 7) You get a "front row seat" to some great action 8) You are needed. There is a shortage of officials 9) Flexibility. There are games almost every night of the week. 10) It really is fun! I only had one coach chew me out in my first year. Fortunately, I was trained how to handle it. Trust me, I messed up more than once. The coaches showed me respect and let me do my job and I respected them and let them do theirs.
