  1. I don't see how anyone could sell themselves to a community or their team if their kids don't attend the school....damages the credibility instantly and it would burn my rear end if my kids went to school in Nac but the coaches and administrators don't believe in the school enough to send their kids there....actions speak louder than words
  2. Been talking about this for a few years now....Friday night lights will become Thursday or Saturday night lights in a lot of small towns very soon due to officiating shortages...only the big schools will play on Fridays
  3. Tolleson has one of the best coordinator gigs in the state at Ryan....so I doubt he'd leave for something he didn't feel was perfect....or close to it...my guess is during the process he saw a red flag in his eyes and withdrew...
  4. Whoever Nac hires needs to be bought in...can't have admin and coaches working in the district but none of their kids go to school there...tough to sell that to the community IMO.....
  5. Tolleson pulled out; the third guy is a Houston area coordinator...a very good young coach and graduated from SFA.....
  6. https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2019/02/16/dctf-interview-atlanta-head-coach-matt-mcclure?ref=article_preview_title
  7. This may not be quite the done deal originally thought...Stephenville's AD was making calls Saturday...could be a $$ issue for the guy that they originally targeted....also...Stephenville aint the job it once was...some lean years ahead
  8. My summers consisted of balancing summer basketball and summer baseball in the evenings; going and lifting and running in the mornings and the nights I didnt have a game I had a summer job...some of the most fun times of my life....
  9. It's all perspective.....Henderson doesn't participate so your view is common with those fans/coaches whose teams don't play much...to this crowd for some reason, anyone who is happy or proud of any success another school has in 7-on-7 is all of a sudden "making too big a deal of it" The reality is those that play and participate typically keep it in perspective and and are just happy with the success...the very, very small crowd that does blow things out of proportion is probably the same crowd that keeps scores at scrimmages and thinks those results mean something...so take it with a grain of salt....and there's nothing wrong with being competitive and wanting to win at everything..checkers, football, hoops, 7-on-7...etc...there's zero guarantee of success on Friday night even if you are the best 7-on-7 team the world has ever seen...however there is a very distinct correlation to success in 7-on-7 State Tournament and success on Friday night....
  10. I dont have a problem w/anyone bragging about winning a state 7-on-7 title...why shouldn't a group of kids or fans be proud of success?? No it's not as important as winning a title in December but teams that do well in 7-on-7 often have that success translate to Friday night....College Station, Midlothian Heritage and Gunter were all pretty good when the pads came on last year
  11. 7-on-7 isn't football..its 7-on-7 but it helps the football part out tremendously....
  12. This had to happen....a kid almost died last year...no insurance company was going to insure any tournaments without this requirement...yes it will cost more, BUT this equipment is a UIL exception and the schools not the kids can purchase these soft shells and they can be used in off-season etc. As for 7-on-7 being the worst thing to happen to HS Football, I 1000% disagree...playing 7-on-7 with your teammates in the summer is very helpful...
  13. Ben Harmon is the PG QB he's a two year starter....
  14. Football participation numbers are down in almost every state not just California.....Texas is only holding steady...which is better than most can say
  15. Couple of interesting names might be interested in this one
  16. These guys are back Offense QB: District offense MVP RB: 1st Team All-District and 2nd Team All-District OL: 3 1st Team All-District Players Defense DL: 2 1st team all-district, 2 2nd team all-district OLB: 1 2nd Team All-District DB: 1 District newcomer of the year, 1 2nd Team All-District I think there were a couple of transfers who weren't eligible last year that may also help as well....PG like I've said is the likely #1 team in 4A D2 next yr in most pre-season polls
  17. Expect an announcement this week from the State 7on7 board regarding making 5-star rated soft shell helmets a requirement for SQT play starting in 2020....the helmets will be strongly suggested for SQT play in 2019 and will be required for the 2019 State Tournament
  18. The board should not be making any hire in a district except for the superintendent....if they are its probably a dysfunctional district
  19. No way....doing all-state teams is way more trouble than its worth....I got out of that business 4 years ago
  20. There you go...Grandview doesn't take the service
  21. I'd say roughly 40% of the UIL schools in TX take his service....
  22. I mean when your name is Padilla and its the Padilla Poll All-State Team you can kinda do what you want...lol
