  1. It was the holding that got him the 15 yards ahead. Dawg, you just don't know. Your even saying the refs are from Tyler and they weren't.......SMH
  2. I don't think Kirbyville football has gone to garbage because of Coach jones in just 2 years if this is what you are trying to imply. I also disagree with you about the PG coach seeing Jones as a problem and getting rid of him. The problem was not solely Jones. PG coaches just can't handle Jones old school style of coaching which is not babying the kids, holding them accountable and not being fake like the new coach. And although Jones was at PG, he was not the head coach of football so if we are talking about why they weren't as good is because there were other head coaches, whom I know Jones did not agree with their way of coaching either, and they weren't very good. But that blame is on the prior head coaches, not all jones.
  3. Every coach succeeds somewhat at times, but I don't believe he has been to the State Playoffs 7 times. PG says it was just the players who come through PG, which those players were and are very talented. But have they been back since he left. So I guess now it's just the players who come through Kirbyville. There is a common denominator, like it or not with these teams having as much success as they do and this is Coach Jones.
  4. Most of you have nothing right about any of your statements except for RAM. Cowboy can coach ! There is no underhanded way he got his job, he did what any AD does when they take over, just like what was done to him when a new AD took over at PG. He was the best choice for the Head Baseball coach and he put himself in the position which he is best at. And UnclePig, you have no idea about football. Jones knows as much about football and was not the reason for PG's losing seasons in football as you are suggesting. If you were around the football at all back then, you would know the reason. 68Hornet said it right too, there's a whole lot more to the story, which like I said, most of you in this forum no nothing about and are just speculating and have most of it wrong. It's kind of like nobody likes to see anybody else succeed or win except for themselves or they feel threatened. Jones is a winner, he coaches kids to be winners and to know what hard work can get them in an old school fashion and other coaches are threatened by the work ethic and doing the right thing rather than doing whats easy.
  5. I was just trying to say, since PGdad especially was making this about Coach Jones and how he hasn't won anything in a long time to his credit, mainly because he has not been a head coach. Well now he has. Did he win on his own, no. He had the work the boys put in, the work the assistants put in and lots of support. So all should be credited with the District win. Rykerx, if your meaning the Kirbyville boys are just that good and you could have won with them as well, maybe, but if your meaning the rest of the district was that weak, I think that would be an insult to the Kirbyville boys. I've seen some games, and I've seen some games where the coaching came in to play to produce a win. Most coaches have a hard time producing a win based solely on coaching decisions. However I credit the Kirbyville boys for the work they put in and in executing their game. You won't need to justify the hire with district win alone. I'm sure there will be more to come. If not, you can count on the kids being taught the game the right way and putting in the hard work.
  6. District Champions....Kirbyville, Tx. First year back as Head Coach.
  7. Thanks for clearing that up Kville, but you didn't owe any explanation. Just people digging again, hoping for something different.
  8. Are you all just that desperate to want to see people fail ? Is that why your keeping up with Kirbyville and you don't even live there or have any stake in the place.
  9. Kville85, PGDad does not know the facts !!! I do !!! There is no cover up. Sometimes people put themselves in a position which may appear to other people, (who don't know the facts) something different than what it really is. And it wasn't somebody who wasn't scared of putting him in his place but rather someone who is one sided and giving in to the pressure of those who think their #### don't stink and might make their spoiled little kid put in the work needed to be a winner on his own and not just what Mommy and Daddy give him. This post has gone on long enough. PGDad only knows what he thinks he knows and sometimes you just can't fix stupid, or in this case ignorance of the facts which he clearly does not have them all. Sometimes, things aren't always what they appear to be, what other people make them out to be, or what the gossip around PG might be.
  10. I don't post often and when I do, I know the facts of what I am posting. This is my last post on this subject, as this is a subject really should not have gone on as long as it has. You obviously have issues with the man. And at least now you are admitting he has done some good. He has done more good than you know, just ask his previous players which really is what mattered to him. I'm sure he doesn't really care what you think of him as long as the kids he has coached have benefited from learning what/how hard work and winning is all about. The parents, yourself and I, come 2nd to his players, as a coach. Maybe the man was put on to high of a pedestal, but he earned some of it, and it was not his fault, your peers were the ones putting him on that pedestal. But to berate the guy like you have done on here and say he has basically done nothing, is wrong. He is now in a position different than any other he has been in, as far as I know. But I'm confident he will lead, influence and mentor those adults just fine as long as they give him a chance and not listen to people like you and get false information or preconceived opinions. And I highly doubt, from your previous comments, your concerns lye with worrying about him being able to mentor other adults. But we will all see. Obviously a lot of others agree with me and think highly of him since he is the AD, Head Football and Head Baseball coach. Yes it will be interesting, but he was unfairly dealt with at PG, so no matter what happens, he is better off.
  11. Like I said PGDad, and I will try to be nice about it. He hasn't been a Head Coach since he left PG. So, no he doesn't have anymore titles to his head coaching name (yet). But if you go to any PG baseball games and notice the big white board out in right field, (I guess it's still there, haven't been in awhile) with all the titles on it, could you please tell me who was Head coach of all the District, Regional, State titles. As an assistant coach, Jones has been with 2 teams (that I know of, Baseball and Football) which have also won some titles as well. One team Played in a state Championship against PG as I recall this past year. So you are wrong when you say he hasn't won anything else. He was a part of 2 other organizations which have won titles. Coincidence, maybe. But if you knew anything about what it takes to be a coach, then probably not. I give a lot of credit to the coaching staff Jones had with him during his time at PG, (Henry, Phillips, Deal and Requarth) probably could not have been as successful as he was without a these guys. It seems you definitely hold a grudge and your reply's really don't deserve to be replied to with justification. Just go take a look at the Big white Board and do your research before saying he is not a winner and hasn't made the boys he has coached winners. And you can correct all my spelling errors or grammar mistakes if it's something that make's you feel better.
  12. He was an assistant coach for Jones over 10 -15 years ago but didn't last the season. So it's a negative on the promotion out of the deal unless eventually being the Head girls softball coach is considered a promotion.
  13. I'm not understanding this statement. Not sure who you are asking this question to.
  14. I will answer your question for you even though you still have failed to answer Kville85's question. Your question isn't a fair question since Coach Jones has not been the head coach of a baseball team since leaving PG.
  15. I do believe he helped coach a team in Kirbyville that made it farther in the playoffs than they have ever been before. Coincidence, I don't think so.
  16. sounds like you might Don't know what your talking about PGDad. Sounds like you might be butthurt because you contribute to not having your kids work hard and succeed. Or could be just another jealous coach or person. Mediocre !! Flaws, yes, but nothing other coaches don't have, and your right, he didn't get run out of town, he left all on his own to continue his coaching career as one of the best High School baseball coaches you will ever see if you knew what you were talking about.
  17. Yeah, it was a witch hunt, lots of lying from a previous coach, who didn't know anything about coaching but gets everything handed to him as well, made up accusations, lots of stabbing in the back that went on and parents who don't know what real coaching is all about. They just wanted their little boy who has been given everything all their life to get to play ball instead of compete. Just ask previous players, who were actual competitors, what kind of coach he was and what kind of coach they wanted.
  18. And what does this mean exactly, Jones was Jones ?
  19. If he doesn't coach baseball it would be sad because this is what he is best at and he has 2 sons that are in Jr. High whom I'm sure he will want to coach in HS. They are already as good if not better than some lower level HS players.
  20. The refs didn't cost Hooks a win. When you can't count and get the right personnel on the field (4 times for 12 men on the field, 1 of them was back to back) and every punt return only had 10 on the field. Yeah the first play of the game should have been pass interference, but it probably didn't cost them the game. Lots of dropped snaps, miscues and inexperience cost Hooks the game. And having the right number on the field is not all the QB's fault in this situation.
  21. No, this could not have been a "simulating the snap count". It could have been "false start" or a "snap infraction" but not simulating a snap count. :)
  22. JJ, did you run the chains tonight ? How did those zebras do on spotting that ball for ya ?
  23. sackem, if the ref on the side of the chains is doing his job right, it doesn't matter who is running the chains.
