Listening to the game on Mixlr.  I tried to watch it on NFHS but it kept breaking up and saying it is trying to reconnect.  Had the same issue last week.

ME had no best Cushing for several years… It’s a rivalry game….Bearkats stopped Ash last year …. All I know is it will be a dog fight….

We were standing around at practice in 1983 having this same conversation.  Overton, Tenaha, and Union Hill all three sitting at 8-0.  We all had to play each other the last 2 weeks of the season. Union Hill was sitting on a 24 game win streak because they had one state previous year.  Tenaha was rolling with Tutt and McClure at RB & QB.  We were coming off an 8-2 season in which we did not make the playoffs.  It was the first year they started taking two teams and we finished third with that record in 82.  So we're discussing the "what if"  scenario when Coach Bo Talkington steps in it says "Why don't we just beat both of them and let them worry about second place?"  You could have heard a pin drop. I was a young 8th grader who traveled with varsity every game during this season. Those 3 teams along with Cushing were ranked in the top 10 entering district play.

I believe Cushing had Leverett’s Chapel snd Carlisle and winning them both in hard fought cotests before going to ME.  The game with ME injured our QB Lance Crisp in the 1st half that resulted in Cushing just barely scraping by 14-12.  
 

I may be off with the order of games, but the Kennedy brothers at Overton, Tutt/McLure and Union Hill’s taken were too much for the Bearkats yo get yo the playoffs.  Bearkats finished 7-3 that year.
