  1. From watching on YouTube when it was streaming, I’d say Timpson does what great teams do better than just about any other team I’ve seen in recent years, capitalize on opponent mistakes. Poor kick/kick coverage? Boom Bussey to the house right before halftime. Turnover? Timpson drives and scores Muff kickoff? Timpson drives and scores. Give them a drive to start at your 40…twice…because of penalties on kickoff? Timpson drives and scores. Doesn’t matter who you are, you can’t make mistakes like that and beat a quality opponent. And Timpson proved they are as of high a quality as they come. There was a common theme to those mistakes. Timpson capitalized. You can play ifs and buts all day, but at the end of it, Timpson capitalized and ran away with it in the 4th quarter because they made fewer mistakes, and made Daingerfield pay for making theirs. That’s what is so impressive about Timpson through 3 games this year. They don’t make many mistakes, and they are so talented that they make you pay every single time you make a mistake.
  2. Really good performance by Timpson. Was glad DF got a live stream working so that I could watch this one. Couple of uneducated opinions: 1) Timpson just keeps coming at you on offense. Didn’t look like they ever got phased whether it was 1st and 10 or 3rd and Long. 2) DF youth/lack of experience showed up at the key spots. QB made some really good plays, also left some big ones out there. Same thing up front. There were times DF won the LOS and there were times in key situations where they didn’t. Case in point, DF gets the ball with 1:10 left in the half and drives down and scores. That was a big boy drive to get it back right before half. Which leads me to point 3… 3) Special teams really flipped the game on its head. I highly doubt DF said hey let’s squib kick it right to the best player on the field. Gotta execute better in that situation. You don’t give up that TD and it’s 21-16 and even tighter than it was, especially when DF wound up scoring 1st in the 3rd quarter. And it was probably out of reach when it happened, but DF muffing the kickoff to give Timpson the short field was the ultimate dagger. Especially when it had came after DF had fumbled going into the end zone their previous drive. 4) I wouldn’t write DF off, they showed glimpses. Obviously weren’t good enough and didn’t play clean enough, but it’s in there. And several people have said it…Timpson is the real, real deal.
  3. One of your better, most sensical posts I’ve read from you on here. Kudos!!
  4. In region 1, someone like a Wall would become a consistent threat. In region 2, it would be wide open considering Gunter has won it with ease for what feels like the last decade. As someone else mentioned, Holliday would probably definitely be in the mix. Considering Daingerfield has lost to the regional representative the last 4 years (3 times in round 4, once in round 2) I would think all roads lead through them (if those roads don’t already) in Region 3 if Newton and Waskom were to drop. Region 4 is WIDE open without Franklin already, so no telling who would step up there. East Bernard has been there in the past.
  5. Good post. Football speed is way different than track speed. And being fast doesn’t make you a good football player. both of these teams have track speed. Both of these teams have football speed. Both of them are quite deserving of their ranking and I would expect both of them to play good football on Friday.
  6. Did you not read what I wrote? Fastest FAT times. Daingerfield ran their fastest times at regionals. Timpson ran theirs at state. If you are going to argue, read.
  7. Surely not that down. MV was probably good for GW. Brought them down off their high of almost beating DF who was breaking in several new starters on OL and at QB. GW should be ok with SH. Don’t think SH has the horses to out physical GW
  8. White Oak continues to get ready for their playoff run in 6-3A D1 with another solid, checks notes, 2A school….
  9. Waskom needs to be able to win this game. Bumpy road ahead if they don’t.
  10. Either you can’t read or you are making an argument that I’m not making. I said 4A-D2, Region 2. That’s Carthage, Gilmer, Pleasant Grove etc. LCM got thumped by WOS last year, who didn’t win D2 R3. Not a chance in hades they would’ve won R2.
  11. Newton should still be fine in district. Hemphill has beaten 2 2As. New Waverly has beaten a bad Shepherd and a better but still not good Teague. If Newton makes it out of the next 2 weeks healthy then they’ll be rocking and rolling by the time they get to Hemphill in the 3rd district game.
  12. Maybe, just maybe, 4A-D2 Region 2 is tougher than 4A-D1 region 3? Name 1 true good, powerhouse team Chapel Hill beat to win the region last year that would win 4A-D2 region 2. Vidor? Nope Brazosport? Nope Kilgore? 0-2 against D2 teams this year but definitely the best on their run LCM? Nope Not knocking CH but just being honest, none of those teams are better than the 2 they’ve lost 2 most likely. I’d be willing to bet CH gets it rolling over the next 2 weeks and heads into district feeling a lot better about themselves.
  13. Are we really getting into track times? that’s a dangerous game to compare to the football field, ask West Rusk . Both teams can fly. But you can’t use relay times, especially when both teams had a senior on them. And we are literally splitting hundredths of seconds of a difference. Best I can tell Timpson’s fastest time FAT 4x1 was 42.18, Daingerfield was 42.21. Timpson’s fastest FAT 4x2 was 1:28.88 and Daingerfield was 1:28.48. Literally within .04 of each other in the sprint and .4 in the 4x2. Again, both teams are fast on the track. Both teams are fast on the football field. The beauty of it is, this ain’t hypothetical. It’s very real Friday night. I’d bet both teams make a play or two along the way. We’ll see how it shakes out and everyone will have their opinions about it come 11:00 Friday night. Timpson is way more than just Bussey and Daingerfield is way more than just Hampton. Timpson will probably be the most dynamic spread offense Daingerfield has seen with these kids, and Daingerfield will be by far the best spread offense Timpson has seen. If either team slacks on defense it will get exposed by the other on Friday.
  14. Biggest thing I want to see this week is Texas compete. We all know they aren’t at Bama’s level yet, but I’d love to see them compete their tail off anyways. Go play with great effort on both sides of the ball, execute to the best of their ability and just go play 4 quarters of football.
  15. Carlisle keeps collecting W’s and points. Lots and lots of points.
  16. Hooks just lost to a very meh 2A. Give me da raiders!
  17. MP needed a ton of turnovers to squeak past Pitt. They just got doubled up by Sulphur Springs fresh off an 0-10. LE has beaten Henderson and Paris. Give me LE.
  18. You’ve gotta let him have his moment. He works at Center. They went 1-9 last year. They are now 2-0 against literally an entire new smaller school team with an almost entirely new coaching staff and a win over a similar size school who hasn’t been over .500 in 15 years also breaking in a new head coach. The roughriders have clearly arrived.
  19. I haven’t seen many say Timpson is the underdog. Someone has to be favored, unless Harris and Padilla and Jerry make it a pickem. Both teams A games will make this a dandy. Timpson has plenty of a chance in this one.
  20. Wow at one point I thought I heard a score of Joaquin 35 Beckville 21 in the second half. If true, Joaquin sure has a way of snatching defeat from the hands of victory lately with Beckville.
  21. If this game starts at 7:00…with a 28 minute halftime this thing will be over at what 8:30? Ya two run heavy teams who go about it in very different ways
  22. KYKX dudes are a kick to listen to. Someone there correct me if I’m wrong, did Tatum ever get a sack in? I didn’t hear one, but well if you ever have listen to those guys you’d understand lol. Seemed like DF did a pretty good job not letting Tatum get home. Also sounded like DF still has things to clean up offensively which is kinda a scary thought.
