  1. There were so many experts on this thread I had to reassert my village genius status
  2. This is part 2 of 4 of a really good non-district slate for Daingerfield. I’m sure people ain’t exactly lining up to play them their size, but knowing that you are going to be inexperienced up front and at QB and still having this schedule is pretty legit. No matter happens over the next 3 weeks I’d think Daingerfield , assuming they are healthy, comes out of this stretch ready to make a run. Same goes for Tatum. I know West Rusk and Daingerfield are smaller schools, but talent wise they’ve both been really good to go along with the bigger schools of Center, Pitt and Lumberton. Good scheduling by both coaches IMO to get their teams ready for legit playoff football. As for this game, once about every 4 pages someone makes the legit point that it’s going to come down to some interesting matchups. Tatum has the top 2 Lineman kids. Daingerfield probably has the top 2-3 skill kids. Is there a big enough discrepancy at either advantage to really take over the game? QB for Tatum is definitely what makes them go. He not only makes them right a lot, but he ain’t no slouch toting it or throwing it either. Can DF scheme it up well enough to let the Soph have some easy throws? Soph also looked like he ran the ball efficiently against GW, so that’s an added element that wasn’t necessarily there for DF last year. I know I said a lot, but all in all I think this is a really intriguing matchup that I’m sure both sides fans will judge calmly and with a sound, open mind
  3. I ain’t going back 5 pages to find it…but LOL at whoever it was that said Tatum would be dodging and weaving in a slug fest. We all know Tatum coming to try to punch you in the mouth every single play lol. And also LOL at Jerry’s prediction. When was the last time this score didn’t finish close?
  4. Timpson bullied beckville in every way. Joaquin is about to lineup and come right at em. Something tells me beckville is going to struggle in this one. I think it’ll be a good game but give me the…Rams.
  5. My uneducated opinion after Week 1. 1 Tatum 2 Gladewater 3 Jefferson 4 Sabine 5 Atlanta 6 White Oak I really think 3-5 are all pretty close and will be good ball games. As long as Watson is healthy I don’t know if anyone beats Tatum in district. He keeps them out of bad plays and is a home run threat at the same time. Very dangerous. I think Gladewater can give Tatum a good game, and their talent on the backend can keep the big play from happening…but death by 4-8 yards is still death in the end. Their offense matches up to Tatums strength on defense. Jefferson we won’t know about until Week 6 or 7, unless they’ve lost a couple by then and we’ll know plenty. Interesting that they are playing down by level all pre-season. Sabine is gonna go as the QB goes. He shouldn’t regress but only get better. Gonna have to be electric to knock off either of the top 2, but has the potential to be in the game with everyone else. Atlanta is better, and will be firmly in the mix. Will they have enough offense to knock someone off? White oak? Yea…
  6. Is Evans not #2? Or are you implying Center has a better receiver?
  7. This is just straight bully ball now. Timpson is head and shoulders and possibly knees and toes better than Beckville.
  8. You’d think Daingerfield can find a way to get their kids lose atleast a few times on offense. Gladewater offense did some really good things against Gilmer but didn’t really progress against Canton. Think this one might be a good one.
  9. Shelbyville has looked pretty good against Huntington and Beckville. Alto had some bright spots against Beckville but didn’t look like they got any better against troup. Me thinks Shelbyville wins this one.
  10. If this game is close I think it says more about Waskom than Redwater.
  11. So Gladewater looked pretty decent last week again Gilmer and reports from tonight are up and down. Daingerfield had cupcakes last week, and Atlanta this week. How’d the tigers look against the running rabbs?
  12. Anybody actually heard much on Atlanta this year? How’s the new regime looking? Who have they scrimmaged? Been mighty quiet from the northeast corner of the state.
  13. This makes 2 weeks in a row that Gilmer hasn’t looked like Gilmer. Just my plain Jane opinion. Of course you can’t take my opinion and a dollar and get you 1/4 tank of gas these days.
  14. I heard the Bearcats were not as good as most tonight. Apparently don’t handle dragon fire too well. Thinking Bears might handle Bearcats quite handily in the wild.
  15. Seems like WR is playing some good ball to start it off
  16. I didn’t specify which blue tigers In all seriousness, they did say Grand Saline had their way on offense against Clarksville. Couldn’t do anything offensively against Daingerfield. They thought GS looked like they were already better than last year and thought they’d have a good shot at making playoffs. On DF they said every time they looked up it they felt like DF was exploding for a big play.
  17. I heard from some family in Van Zandt County that GS had their way with the blue tigers.
  18. To be fair…their district includes Gilmer and Pleasant Grove
  19. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Tatum about to be extremely tough to beat. Not that the coaching staff won’t take the runs busting for long TDs, but they’ll be perfectly content to pound away behind Welch and Fite and shorten the game. You had better find a way to get ahead and make them play catch-up. And I don’t say this as a Tatum fan or as someone expecting them to win state. Just simply saying that as someone who’s seen that offense work. They’ll be in almost every game unless they are completely outmanned, or turn it over a bunch. For no other fact than they will rarely have 3 and outs and that means a short offensive possession might be 4 minutes!
  20. Ah you are correct. Just saw the 4 and assumed they didn’t make the playoffs. That’s what happens when you assume. just for the record, Waskom under keeling was quite impressive. My comment was simply directed at DTH saying Waskom doesn’t rebuild, they always reload. Just my personal thoughts but 4-7 after a state title is a rebuild year, and 5-5 after a 10 win year is a rebuild. But again, that is not me knocking Waskom. There are only a handful of schools in East Texas who wouldn’t want to trade 2013-2021 run that Waskom went on.
  21. You might want to reconsider the last statement. 16-0 to 4-7 the next year. 10-2 to 5-5 the next year. Twice since the last state title in 2016 you’ve finished out of the playoffs.
  22. And 2 of the 3 times Alto and Carlisle played the previous 2 realignments, Carlisle won correct?
