  1. This will be one of the better 1st round games to watch in my opinion. I think it will be too close to call. Not gonna lie... I'd love to see Sabine get their first playoff "dub" against an AB coached team, but only time will tell. Good luck to both teams!
  2. How many points has each team given up on the season? Any idea?
  3. What does the depth of the OL and DL for both teams looks like. Are there a lot of 2 way starters for either team?
  4. Honestly in a lot of ways I agree, I like to call it the “no team left behind” rule lol. The fact that anything can happen with some great teams who wouldn’t even make the playoffs is the only reason I sorta like it.
  5. Preliminarily, just seeing film from last night... looks like a nice BBQ set up from all the burnt ends...
  6. Keep us posted if you’re there! I’m interested in how this one plays out.
  7. I'll tell ya what. Jeffy looked good on film last year, and when they showed up it was no different. That team was all the way around solid! That being said, That Malakoff vs. Jefferson game from 2018 will, at least in my mind, go down as one for the best executed game plans in HS football on behalf of Malakoff last year. Jeffy was big and had the talent to pair with it and there is still a lot of respect for that program for this year. It would be a good match up again this year if it happens, but a little easier draw would be nice. lol All that said, it is a week away from playoff season and seedings won't matter after the opening kick off. Just kids playing with fire and passion for the love of game. The best time of year IMO!
  8. And a tip of the hat to you guys for making sure it didn’t happen. Not cause they would have won, but because it would have been such a high emotion game, there would have been poor decisions made throughout that rematch for sure!
  9. I’m ok with Mally staying at number 2. It’s just a little more reason to keep fighting. Not gonna lie Region 3 is just a gauntlet yet again this year. So many strong teams playing with a chip on their shoulder.
  10. Me? I got Mally over I’m betting Commerce. Dallas Madison over Rains Van Alstyne over Life Oak (could be closer than anticipated) Pottsboro over Kemp
  11. So with one week left in the regular season, at least in district a 5 and 6 we have a decent view of the playoff match ups compared to the rest of the region. If I’m not mistaken it looks like so. 1 Malakoff vs 4 loser of Commerce and Rains 2 Madison vs 3 winner of Commerce and Rains 3 Dallas life vs 2 Van Alstyne 4 Kemp vs 1 Pottsboro Who ya got and why?
  12. Hoping to have an injury free game and let some of the younger guys get some reps at the varsity level. I'm honestly a little more interested in seeing how the other districts in our region shake down. Particularly districts 7 and 8.
  13. +1. As a potential future opponent that's a little concerning, or very promising depending on how strong the district is, and i know traditionally its pretty solid. It seems as if statewide there have been some potholes along the way for literally everyone.
  14. So, what are the current records for teams in each district anyway? And do you guys all have 2 games remaining, right? We have a 6 team district, so the weeks get screwy to me.
  15. As an outsider guy looking in, I am pretty excited to see how the last couple games shake out for both districts and to see how those first round match ups pan out. I will say its fun to watch how things unfold when the top 4 have a shot to take the title pretty much. I just hope that all the teams make it out injury free to make a run in the playoffs. That can be tough in the dog fights to take the district.
  16. Malakoff is definitely keeping hopes for s state championship alive, but Region 2 always has some sneaky contenders to beat. D7 is a mess to try to figure out right now and because of that its hard to tell whats going on over there, but Hooks seems to be on a roll. I keep hearing a lot about Sabine too, so maybe there's some fresh blood to make a run this year out of D8, I will also say that I'm a firm believer that success breeds success and Sabine has developed a culture of success from the classroom to the field so who knows! After this last week, I can assure you that Dallas Madison isn't a team to look past, they could surprise a few people. It's all about match ups and it's 0-0 come week 11. Enjoy the ride guys and gals!
  17. I just became that guy who quotes himself... Defense, 2nd string or not, could be the downfall for Teague. I've been sayin it since Teague played Malakoff. Once you get deep enough in the playoffs, out scoring your opponent with an alightly above average defense can become a problem. I know it sounds like I'm bashing, but I'm actually routing for Teague most weeks. I hope they find a solution for the long haul. Congrats on a first round win!
  18. Just sayin... There have been many predictions this year saying Malakoff scores 28 and They have yet to score less than 34. I'm not sayin it can't happen, just sayin it hasn't yet. Furthermore, Malakoff has the fewest points against in Theor district. Again, not using that as a gurantee, but a pretty good indication as to why they have had success and might continue to do so Friday night.
  19. Just curious (not using this to judge) how many playoff appearances have these 2 fine teams made in the past saaaayyyy, 5 years?
  20. I'm feeling a 2-2 as well. I'm sure no one will overlook a 9-1 team and it is odd to have 3 from the same district. I feel like that means one of 2 things... Either they're all that good or they all have some inconsistencies. Region 3 is definitely stacked and I hate knowing some great teams will have to eliminate each other. I would not be surprised to see the state champion come from this region.
  21. WHOA WHOA WHOA there Mike... That opening statement was by no means intended to be construed as negative. I have very much enjoyed watching the progress of your team this year. There was literally a post for every weeks game from week one leading up to the Teague game. There were literally no more Malakoff game topic posts after that game. Seems to me like the tires got unnecessarily deflated. I made this post to get the train back on the tracks of positive progress and hope to follow it deep into the playoffs! I waited to see if any of the regulars that I saw on the other posts would start one up for the playoffs and decided... Eh, what the hey. Sincere apologies if these spirits have offended. Lol Let's go Tigers! WHOA WHOA WHOA there Mike... That opening statement was by no means intended to be construed as negative. I have very much enjoyed watching the progress of your team this year. 22. Alright people. Malakoff was blowin this place up every week until the Teague loss, granted the next 2 weeks weren't much to write home about. Let's talk match ups. What kind of offense and defense are we looking at in Buna? Are they comparable to teams we've played? Cause let's face it, these teams might as well be in different states they are so far apart.
