  2. Wanted everyone to know that Daingerfield's Carl Moore is playing for Cisco Junior College. Cisco is playing TJC this Saturday night in Tyler at 7:00PM. Come out and support Carl...I know he would love to see ya there!
  3. Well today started out perfect...woke up late and then got pulled over by State Trooper by Top Hot in Naples. He looked at me a grinned and then he said "You are in dangerous territory today." (I have my Daingerfield and Tiger Nation stickers on my car.) I only got a warning...guess he loves high school football too!!

Thursday, August 20, 2009 Longview, Gilmer and Daingerfield are the top-ranked teams in their respective classes in the preseason Associated Press state football polls, which were released Thursday morning. Longview is ranked No. 1 in Class 4A. Gilmer is ranked No. 1 in the 3A poll, while Daingerfield is the top-ranked team in Class 2A. All three of the teams were ranked No. 1 in their respective classes as well in Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine, which was released in June. Longview received 239 points for its No. 1 ranking in Class 4A. The Lobos received 17 out of a possible 25 votes as the top-ranked team. Lake Travis - which defeated Longview for the Class 4A Division I state title last year - is tied for No. 2 with Denton Guyer with 194 points each. Guyer lost to the Lobos in a state semifinal last season. Also receiving votes from District 13-4A, Longview's district, were Sulphur Springs (23 points) and Texas High (9). Gilmer received 243 points and 19 first-place votes for its No. 1 ranking in Class 3A. Carthage is ranked No. 2 in Class 3A with 209 votes and three first-place votes. Gilmer and Carthage were ranked 1-2 in Texas Football. Tatum and Pleasant Grove also received one point each in the Class 3A poll. Daingerfield was one point away from a unanimous preseason No. 1-ranking in Class 2A. Daingerfield received 249 points and 24 first-place votes. Arp is ranked No. 2 with 196 points. Bushland is ranked No. 3 with 159 points and received the lone first-place vote Daingerfield did not receive. Paul Pewitt is ranked No. 9 in the Class 2A poll with 48 points. Jefferson received one point in 2A. No area Class A teams received a vote. Cayuga is No. 1 with 231 points and 18 first-place votes. Albany is ranked No. 2. In Class 5A, Katy is ranked No. 1 with 230 points and 14 first-place votes, while Allen is No. 2 with 229 points and eight first-place votes. Longview hosts Katy in the season opener for both teams on Aug. 28. Lufkin received the most votes among teams not ranked in the top 10 with 49 points.

  6. Daingerfield's Moore shares top defensive honor Wednesday, January 28, 2009 Daingerfield linebacker Carl Moore made it a clean sweep of postseason awards Tuesday. Moore, who helped lead the Tigers to a Class 2A Division II state championship in December, was named Class 2A's co-defensive Player of the Year Tuesday on the Collins Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Football Team. The Tiger standout shared the award with Lane Wood of Muleshoe, which captured the 2A Division I title. Moore, who racked up 174 tackles (112 solos), 33 tackles for losses, seven sacks, nine forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, an interception and three passes broken up, was the 2A defensive player of the year on the Associated Press All-State Team and the Defensive MVP on the Longview News-Journal's All-East Texas Football Team. Moore was joined on the TSWA first team by Daingerfield's KoKo Smith at runningback, Zavian Gilstrap on the defensive line, Julius Hurndon at linebacker and Scott Irvin at defensive back. Arp's LaVocheya Cooper was a first team pick at defensive back and kicker returner and an honorable mention selection at runningback. Smith rushed for 1,490 yards and 23 touchdowns and caught 11 passes for 182 yards. Gilstrap finished with 73 tackles, 15 tackles for losses and two sacks. Hurndon had 149 tackles, (88 solos), 25 tackles for losses, five sacks, five forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries, two interceptions and three passes defended. Irvin finished with 136 tackles, 27 tackles for losses, two sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and two interceptions and Cooper had 87 tackles and eight interceptions. Muleshoe quarterback Wes Wood earned offensive player of the year honors, and Muleshoe coach David Wood was named coach of the year. Wes Wood completed 278 of 439 passes for 4,546 yards, 64 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Co-defensive MVP Lane Wood finished with 163 tackles and 11 quarterback pressures. East Texas players honored included: SECOND TEAM Daingerfield quarterback Tyler Boyd, Paul Pewitt runningback D.J. Burleson, Daingerfield receiver Chris Jones, Daingerfield offensive lineman Zarkevian Williams, White Oak linebacker Trevor Wait, Arp linebacker Garrett Williams and Arp punter Will Allen. THIRD TEAM West Rusk runningback Daniel Thompson, White Oak offensive lineman Taylor Tarr, White Oak center Barrett Blankenship, Paul Pewitt center Sean Gulley and Paul Pewitt defensive back Jerome Whetstone. HONORABLE MENTION Arp runningback Cooper, White Oak runningback Orlando Humble, West Rusk tight end and defensive end Braylon Williams, Jefferson receiver Cordell Roberson, Arp kicker Will Allen, Jefferson defensive lineman Trevor Murphy, Paul Pewitt defensive lineman Dalton Smith, Harmony linebacker Kolby Hogan, Paul Pewitt defensive back Jerry Braddock, New Diana defensive back Beau Brewer and Hughes Springs defensive backs Jabarri Wesley and Cody Jones.

  8. Update on #15 Chris R...I spoke to his aunt on Tuesday and she said that he has a deep bruise on his shin. He is ok and will be playing Saturday!

From the Longview News Journal Daingerfield's Moore named Defensive Player of Year Click-2-Listen FROM STAFF REPORTS Monday, December 15, 2008 Daingerfield linebacker Carl Moore, who has racked up nearly 170 tackles in leading the Tigers to within a game of a state championship, was named Associated Press Sports Editors Class 2A Defensive Player of the Year on Monday. Moore led a large contingent of East Texas players named to the elite squad, including teammates Julius Hurndon on the first team, offensive lineman Zarkevian Williams, defensive lineman Zavian Gilstrap and defensive back Scott Irvin on the second team and honorable mention pick Tyler Boyd at quarterback. Other East Texas players included first team runningback D.J.   15. His name is Justin Whorton...not sure if he will be staying on Varsity now that basketball is over and we have a couple of pitchers back. He has pitched a couple of good games though.

  18. I know I found out to late, I couldn't get my kids in... I hope it comes around again next year... Do you know who I can get in touch with to find out more, I would like to help in whatever way I can... My family was a huge part in the original league before it tanked... I loved it so much, I really would like to be involved... I go to church with the lady who organized it...Kristy Sutton...They are talking about doing a Spring Season for kids who don't play baseball...Not sure if they could get enough kids/coaches. We could use all the help we can get...they even asked me to be a coach at first!!!
