  1. If they signed a contract the district has to honor that at least from a salary perspective as a teacher. They can make him be a midnight janitor, but have to pay him as a teacher on their step. Can’t touch their pay.
  2. Nucci is a great guy and a great coach. He took a 0-10 team to a playoff team in 1 year at Molina. Definitely knows his stuff. Y’all are blessed to have him.
  3. You’re basically talking about year round school or a version of it? Where are the breaks? Why would you start at the end of July?
  4. It’s Jefferson next week for Hooks
  5. Jefferson has moved to Thursday also.
  6. It wasn’t a day care it was by. It was some what close to the pre-k school from my understanding. I know one of the young men that got shot and he is a great kid. I was shocked when I heard. The one I know should be ok from what I heard last. The other one that I don’t know I heard he wasn’t doing so good. I did hear they did arrest someone though. I’m praying for the kids and their family.
  7. That would be epic to see now days. Honestly some parents today would say no you’re not bettering the team. Then cuss out the coach.
  8. I think part of good coaching and even a good leader as athletes go is also being discerning about what people outside are saying. Sometimes they have a point then sometimes they don't. You have to be constantly evaluating and have a standard of integrity to be a good leader and know when to go with the grain and when to go against it. When you decide to go against it have the intestinal fortitude to stand your ground no matter what if it's the right thing to do to even a detriment to you as the coach. I think we see a lot of coaches now-a-days going either coaching scared of the parents and losing their job or the I'm always right no matter what these parents are stupid and I know everything. Where is the leadership in that if you are suppose to be the leader of the team? I feel more leaders not only coaches or athletes on a team need to have the idea of "test all things keep that which is good".
  9. This is very true. If he the player has the respect from his team they it shouldn’t matter if he is that “RaRa” kid or not. Or even if he gets “hyped” up from a good play as long as he acknowledges that there was a good play and does what the situation requires of him. I’m just saying I’ve noticed this with coaching staffs also. A lot of the best coaches aren’t the loud yelling types they are the quiet build relationship with the kids coaches.
  10. Yeah I did. The coaches I coached with are great and the staff I was on would have probably won district and made deep runs in playoffs anywhere else. When we made playoffs for the first time in 6 years we got literally " Oh by the way the football team made playoffs" on the announcements and the dance team did good at a competition they got 5 minutes.
  11. Don't forget no support from a lot of the administration, because the dance team is a ton more important than any athletics team, and having kids miss the 1st hour of practice because they are at a charter school instead of on campus at your school.
  12. +1If you notice most kids that focus on basketball, baseball, soccer, or even track for that matter are usually smaller and weaker than the guys who play multiple sports. Football is a different beast because you can't necessarily play that year round cause you're body needs time to heal and build up from the previous season.
  13. This is straight up ridiculous. This is going to make football just like the other 2 major sports baseball and basketball. Its going to be the kids willing to put out the money that are going to be the ones that get the major scholarships not the ones with the raw talent and might have the bigger upside. This is going to bring more of the diva mentality to football even more. I feel like football is the last great team sport in our country. If we allow this to happen we will see more Bishop Gormans and IMGs because that's where that kids will get a scholarship.
  14. I agree the kid is real good all around for a 5th grader. I mean 'cmon a D1 offer already? These kids this happens to a lot of them or the parents end up getting the big head and being the biggest head aches on the team. Cause they are a "D1" athlete. Wait until this kid and all these kids are at least freshmen before offering anything. Make the kid prove himself worthy on a higher level.
  15. Wow good job Troup. Good job Coach Ross!!!
  16. Wild you're right the houses on the lake is where most of the money is coming in and there's a little bit of oil money too I think. Cool pics btw wild.
  17. Yeah there's not many guys in the school actually the girls are the majority. When I was there we after grades we might have 7 or 8 if we were lucky suiting for varsity football and there were a couple times we had to play with 5 just to give someone a break. Growing up in the area also I saw what the plant did to the school. From what I understood they went from actually close to 100 kids in 06 to 40 something by 09-10 school year.
