I agree Nac Band is the best in district. Sorry everyone its not close regardless of all the props and neato glitter you want to douse yourself with on the field. There also is no greater sign that it is March on Smoaky than my endorsement of a 'best band in district' LOL. Mavchamp you are right. For whatever reason there is a disconnect between the face support other sports receive and football.

Nac is a cluster at no fault of their fans or kids. I don't take your view as anything but factual. For years I have seen their mismanagement cost kids. WOKE and asleep at the same time. Agree with your points above. Can't wait until spring!

Does Texas High bounce back from a poor second half of the season? Yes, they will be better. Does Marshall continue its upward trajectory under Alvarez & the Wing-T which took off last season? Yes, he is a good coach and established a better than expected foundation year one. Not sure they can beat Texas High to win district but will be great game. Does WH match/better their 8-2 mark from last season? No, they can't sustain this. This is my sleeper upset team for the district top 2. Could see a sneaky win over Marshall or Texas High to cause chaos. Does Hallsville fill the void left by Mosely who was Mr. Everything for the Bobcats in 2022? They will struggle. Mosely was a star and did everything. They have size but have lacked skill and speed in years past and they will return to earth next year. Does Pine Tree bounce back after back to back disappointing seasons? They are in the same boat as Mount Pleasant. They make too many mistakes and cost themselves on both sides of the ball. They will battle MP and Hallsville for four spot. Does MP finally get things on track? Possibly because of the drop-off from top 3 to 4th spot. Too many self-inflicted penalties and lack of discipline. Does Nac overcome a tumultuous winter after a wildly disappointing '22 season? Nac is a dumpster fire because of their district leadership. Half-woke and half-asleep at the same time.

WInning regional finals is the benchmark for determining competitiveness. Beating up on area schools is one thing, beating one DFW school to get to the regional final is another, but winning the regional final and advancing is the true measure.

This is now my third year to say this and I hate to say it but it's true - East Texas basketball is not very good.

I hate to see a program as accomplished as John Tyler struggle to find a suitable replacement. It would not have been many years ago that this job would have elicited the top coaching talent in the state.

I despise roundball

It is the worst I've ever seen. Kids wearing highlighters on their feet. Coaches are allowing it to seem supportive and cool to kids, while saying they have bigger things than shoes to worry about to adults. I don't see it as much in football or baseball. See it a lot in shoe choices with soccer and basketball. It's bigger than most think. Just another movement towards ME FIRST CULTURE

I have been in the East Texas area for over 50 years...never known about a sign from any other school than Whitehouse. I have seen MULTIPLE signs in MULTIPLE years from them. Absolute GARBAGE to allow this type of behavior.

I agree. From an outside at Pine Tree this team has totally revamped and done the work to get where they are at now. I am also proud of my Pirates and our coaching staff. Pine Tree needs to not do what we do best and gripe and complain but build and support this group. When other fled, this group wanted to steer the ship. I respect and commend them. Despite the loss, we are playing great football and doing our best. We will get where we need to be soon

Pine Tree with the upset. I think we have just enough speed and talent to battle with Hallsville in the trenches. We need to slow the game down and make it about defense and ball control. To win we must not turn the ball over, have fewer penalty yards, and not allow a special teams touchdown. I think our offense and defense can stay in the game if these things happen.

Pine Tree has improved each week. I know the box score sometimes hasn't looked great, but we are strong in the trenches and our coaches have done a great job isolating our big playmakers and making these easy for them. I think Hallsville will have a hard time with Evans and we can match speed throughout the field. We struggle at times with dumb penalties. This could set us up for a big game against Mount Pleasant soon. IF Mount Pleasant upsets Whitehouse, and if we beat Hallsville, there is potential for a huge game next Friday in Mount Pleasant. If the more likely option occurs and both MP and PT lose, the final four are set and both teams move one to roundball. I am pulling for the former option here. I would love for Whitehouse to lose to Mount Pleasant in a shocker loss. Who doesn't love to see Whitehouse lose? This would be a big benefit for the Pirates and could get us back into contention for playoffs if we can handle the firepower of Hallsville.
