  1. Gotta go with Tolar in this one, by 7 points or less.
  2. BV has had some good years in football, but the entire time my 3 kids were there (2009-2018) I would say they were def a baseball school first and football second. I remember years where seniors, who were really good football and baseball athletes, would skip fb their senior year to avoid the risk of injury that could mess with stick ball. Generally, small schools (yes, there are some exceptions) do have waves of talent coming & going. My older kids were in classes where a handful did play youth fb, and the kids were athletic enough to execute whatever the coach wanted them to do. My youngest was the only one in his class to play youth fb, so all but one kid was learning literally from ground zero in 7th grade. His class wasn't the most athletic either, besides a couple kids. I agree with Zander, talent comes & goes, and depending on your tenure and who is school admin/parents/community at the time, sometimes it's just the end of the line. 110-78 (62%) ain't half bad and 2012 - 2018 were pretty good years. Always thought he was a great guy and I know my kids thought highly of him.
  3. https://www.kxxv.com/sports/high-school-sports/bosquevilles-clinton-zander-resigns-as-head-coach-athletic-director He coached my boy several years ago when those teams would go a few rounds into post season. Wish him good luck in the next venture, and hoping the next HFC can right the ship.
  4. Mart by 3 TD's, if Deweyville plays keep away like Hico. If not, tack on a few more scores to Marts margin of victory.
  5. I'll take Mart by 3, maybe 4, TD's.
  6. #2 Mart (2AD2) vs. #3 Centerville (2AD1) Both undefeated, but that will change for one of them tonight.
  7. I say Mart by a TD, but got to bring the "A" game Friday. Panthers GATA
  8. Bosqueville, Crawford, Bruceville-Eddy, Rosebud-Lott, Moody, Tolar, Itasca, Holland all 2AD1 centex schools.
  9. Very nice! Good thinking with the green pellets, too.
  10. Agreed. They've had a couple decent runs over the years, but while my kids were in school really only one year where they gave us a real fight. They're in between Waco & Killeen/Temple/Belton. Most of the talent in this area is in those two locations as opposed to BE. BE has to do the best with what they got. Quality coaching will def help, but I don't know if they will have an answer for powerhouse teams like Crawford and teams like BV, Marlin, Riesel (district teams) who aren't perennial powerhouses but have good talent and can have several years of decent playoff runs. Folk might point to a team like Mart who is rural and still goes super deep almost every year. My answer is besides coaching, it's the culture. Those kids have the winners' mentality drilled into them from day one of youth football. Something like that is possible at BE, but it would take a long time. Gotta put together a few winning seasons first, give the kids and the community a taste of what it's like to be one of the big boys. Then build on that. I wish the new guy luck. An additional winning 2AD1 team in this area would help raise the overall level of competition for all.
  11. Same here, a few times. I'd say facilities are decent. not necessarily good. Then again, I'm a BV guy so I probably shouldn't throw stones lol.
  12. In that district Crawford/Marlin/Riesel have been the top dogs last couple years. Bosqueville, Moody, Rosebud-Lott, Valley Mills - meh. BV is trying to rebuild, but if they get it turned around may not be in BE's district by then. I don't consider the current district a super tough one, but not cupcake level either, probably average IMO. BE is on I35 south of Waco, nice rural area, but IMO difficult to attract any talent that doesn't live there already.
