  1. 6 wins in 2 years under this head coach doesn't give me much hope that we will be any different this year. I am an avid Pitt fan but numbers don't lie. This is his third year and we still don't know what to expect. I think he's looking to going back to the spread but I don't know where he will find a qb that can run and throw the ball Just my opinion. I'm still hoping for a good season. Go Pitt!!
  2. As a Pittsburg fan I really don't think that this will be a close game. Pitt is very young, mostly sophomores but talented. I watched the Mt Pleasant scrimmage with P G and they are better right now than the Pirates. The pirates will be ready for district with some experience by that time and with their coaching staff getting them better. I see a possible 35 to 7 type of outcome for the tigers.
  3. P G is at Mt Pleasant according to Mt Pleasant schedule.
  4. Who does Mt Pleasant scrimmage and what dates?
  5. So heartbreaking, prayers from Pittsburg.
  6. Pittsburg pre district games; Mt Pleasant, Carthage, Tatum, Frisco Independence, Anna. Scrimmage game; Chapel Hill, Paris
  7. Pitt will lose a lot but you have to remember in 20 we only beat North Lamar. These kids didn't know how to win. Under Baca they were soft defensively and didn't have the athletes to run his offense. Abron comes in and installed the slot T and these kids had to learn and get comfortable in this system. He toughened the kids to the point that their defense was pretty good. At the end of the season the kids would run through a brick wall for him. That's the kind of coach Atlanta needs now. Look what Gibson has done for Pleasant Grove.
  8. There is something to be said about culture in the program. I'm a Pittsburg Pirate fan and I have seen a huge change in our program after Baca left. We went 0 and 7 before the kids really got the old regime out of their system. Abron instilled a whole new way of thinking into our players. They began to believe in themselves and what he teaches. We are thankful that he came to coach at Pitt. Even as we were losing game after game, you could see that we were getting better every week. Atlanta is my old hometown and I really believe with the right coach that the culture will change. Go Rabbs!!
  9. It's always hard to beat a team twice in the same season as we found out against Rusk but I think P G pulls away early . Their defense is just going to be too much for Gilmer. Rusk was much improved from the first time we met and Gilmer is better but we all are better now . Turn overs and special team play will be the difference. 42-21 P G
  10. It depends on which coach shows up Friday night, the coach at the P G game or the coach at the Gilmer game. Baca had a good game plan against P G to start but never adjusted to the P G adjustments. He got lost after P G started blitzing the D Bs and never could make the changes. He barely ran the ball but had it in his head that he could throw long the entire game. P G coaches won that game by their adjusting throughout the game. Baca did a much better job in the Gilmer game with running the ball and mixing a few passes . If Baca learned from the P G game then Pitt wins this game.
  11. Just wanted to be right once this season.
  12. I see this game being really close . Pitt played both these teams and I think they are evenly matched. I would go with Van only because of their passing if it's close at the end of the game.
  13. I was not at the game Friday night but I have heard from people that were there. Let me start off by saying that at last years game with Gilmer , when Pitt got ready to come on the field the lights were turned off and then back on as the team came onto the field. There were several players from Gilmer's team came out onto the field and taunted the Pitt players. After halftime the same thing happened as Gilmer's players had to be held back by coaches and refs . I don't understand why the lights being turned off and back on can create such anger toward the opposing team. I understand the same thing happened again this year only the Pitt players reacted differently after halftime , maybe because of what happened at the start of the game. As far as the so called antics of the coach showing enthusiasm on the sideline , I have been waiting a long time for him to get excited and put some fire back into his team. I witnessed Josh Gibson do the very same thing a couple years ago when P G came back on Pitt and won the game. I didn't see or hear all this retoric from Pitt fans. I was impressed with him getting his team excited and fired up. That was the sophomores that went on to win the State title last year. I guess if you are Gilmer and have not lost as many games in a season as this year, it is very frustrating and if you are Pitt and just beat a previous power house , then I understand the excitement. So Gilmer should understand what an accomplishment it was for Pitt and accept it as a compliment to your program. Gilmer will be back maybe as soon as next season, I don't see them being down for long.
  14. Just letting you know why Pitt did not play the freshman game. Pitt also has freshman on varsity, been there through the season along with some pretty good sophs.
