  1. Man I sure hope Lawhorn is gonna be back for this one. We sure need him in this game, but from what I'm hearing he may not be back until the Atlanta game. I've heard from coaches he is making very good progress. He is rehabbing very hard to get back on the field. They said they are impressed how he is doing and can't believe he is getting better so quickly. With a dislocated collarbone I'm sure it hurts like crazy, but to see that young man get back on the field will help a ton. He is a play maker and helps this team tremendously. He will be missed after this year as well as some others. But not to worry if you missed him playing football, then you need to come watch this young man play baseball. WOW, he is the best centerfielder I have ever seen play at the high school level. When he hits, you better not bobble it because he will beat the throw out. Been there and seen it on several occasions. He's just a good all around athlete. As far as the game against Gladewater, if our defense can at least slow the run game down, and force 2nd or 3nd and long Gilmer wins.
  2. Not saying at all he's not a great football either because he is. I just feel he has a better chance making it in baseball. There's nothing wrong with that either.
  3. I have heard that about Lawhorn. Good football player and I would agree with you about being the best receiver. I hope he is ready by next week. I watched him play baseball and man is he good. Probably the best baseball player to come through Gilmer along with Kade Clemens. Catch anything playing centerfield. It don't matter if it's in the gap or not, more than likely it's an out. He is better in baseball in my opinion and I can see why he his getting a lot of interests in baseball and not football. I have also heard he's got some interests from MLB teams as well. Just a great all around athlete. Wish him the best.
  4. In my opinion if the Buckeyes that got off the bus to play Atlanta last Friday get of the bus to play Celina, Celina wins. Now if the Buckeyes that got off the bus that played Mexia Celina won't stand a chance and will lose. The offense needs to play better in this game. Can't play on offense like we did against Atlanta and beat Celina. Our defense played very well but they need to do it again. I still say Buckeyes take the victory.
  5. Great post OldBuckeye. I for one respect all teams, from East Texas that is lol. I'm still pulling for my Bucs to beat Atlanta though. Will it be an easy game? Of course NOT. We will have to play our game and if we do we will pull off the win. If we keep playing Buckeye football then it will be hard for any team to beat us. Again not disrespecting Atlanta or any team that is left. I'm sure Atlanta will say the same thing about them beating Gilmer Friday night.
  6. What I would like to know is why people think Gilmer is arrogant? Is it because we pull for our team and think we are good? We have had a successful program here since 2000 and now all of a sudden we are arrogant. It seems like everybody hates the success we have had. It is no different than other people getting on here and pulling for their team and saying they are the ones that will beat Gilmer. Well whoever does, that's fine, I will still be a Buckeye fan no matter what. If that's what people call being arrogant then so be it. All this year in all these posts of teams we play the opposing fans get on here and say there's no way Gilmer will stop so and so. Well guess what we have stopped them so far. Now with that said, we have Atlanta Friday night and we have to do it again to make it to the semi's. Will we be able to do it? Well we will have to see come Friday. I know Atlanta has a good team, a team good enough to beat us. We will have to be on our toes come Friday night and be ready on every snap. Now go Bucks and beat those "Wabbit's".
  7. I see this game being another close one, but I have to go with my Buckeyes. If Atlanta can't throw on us and has to rely on the run, then the game will go to the Buckeyes. Our defense is just to tough right now and can stop anybody's run game. Until someone proves me wrong I'm going with the black flag defense to make the stops they need to. Now I'm not saying Atlanta will not score on us. I just don't think they can match us TD for TD. In my opinion if you throw more to Lawhorn he can hurt you cause he has the speed and the best hands of any receiver Gilmer has. With that said throw Lawhorn the ball. I'm not saying Atlanta is a bad team. I think they have a good team this year. They must be to be in the fourth round again. No disrespect to Atlanta they have a good program there. Also I don't care where we play, heck we can play at Union Hill for all I care. Just grateful we are still rolling with a rematch from last year in the fourth round. Go Bucs.
  8. I do believe that if Gilmer plays like they did last night it's basketball time for Center. That black flag defense is unstoppable.
  9. Great win last nite Buckeyes. I was so glad to see Lawhorn in there playing. He made some awesome blocks last night. Now let's get it done against Center in Tyler
  10. Maineman1988 the girls volleyball team got beat last night.
  11. Well I will say this, if these coaches don't figure out who needs to be playing, then they will not go very far and no I'm NOT referring to the QB. I think Zac will be fine. He had a rough one last night, but pulled it off. With that said he does need to be more cautious where he throws the ball. I will say that 2 of the pics were not his fault. Two of those where in the hands of a receiver and just didn't catch them. The Buckeyes have a lot to work on next week so lets hope they can work it out.
  12. I heard people all night sitting all around me saying they don't play their best players.
  13. Well what are the thoughts on the game? I guess the thing that bothers me is they had Lawhorn standing on the sidelines all night. I think he only played a couple of series on offense in the 2nd quarter and that's it and zero on defense. What is the problem with these coaches? Do they know what talent is? This kid can go anywhere in the country and be a starter on defense or offense, but these coaches choose to let him stand on the sideline? He could have helped them a lot last night. I know I'm not the only one that thinks this kid should be starting on offense or defense. This is unfair to this talented kid and what usually happens is they quit and if I knew the coaches a little better I would have to say something and not let that happen. Even though I think he's just a junior, he needs to be in the starting lineup somewhere. So I guess they don't play their best players like some people say. If you want to bash then go right ahead. I'm just speaking my observation.
