Was that a Hallsville player or SH player who tried to run over the catcher and then came back to hit catcher with his helmet? I could not tell.

If Huntington meets up with Rains, depth is going to be the difference maker. Rains is going to play 10 and press full court until the whistle blows. They winded Winnsboro, who presses full court themselves and also rotates 8-10 players. I’m excited for Huntington and pulling for the under dog, but Rains is the real deal this year.

Rains wins it going away 69-56. Solid performance all the way around - shooting, defense, free throws. Now go win a state title! Congrats to the Lady Raiders. I expect these two teams to battle it out next year at some point. Both return plenty of players.

Rains up 40-24 at half. Rains played about as good of a half as you could ask for. Their pressure created several TO’s and they shot lights out. Winnsboro seemed off their game most of the half. Credit Rains.

Rains up 19-10 t end of Q1. Fast paced game so far. Both teams with full court press. Rains shooting better from perimeter. Lots of game left.

Winnsboro gets back on track and pulls away in Q4 50-36. Congrats Edgewood on a great season and gritty performance tonight.

It went from a potential blowout to a nail biter quick didn’t it.

At times it was more full court man than a full court press. Whatever it was it caused some turnovers in Q4 when the Cards needed them. Especially when Winnsboro went into clock eating stall mode. #1 has a smooth shot for sure. Sometimes when they just aren’t falling from downtown you have to drive the lane and shoot a higher percentage shot or take the free throws. Sabine just didn’t do that enough tonight IMO.

Sabine should have went full court press at the start of Q2. They apparently live and die by the 3, and it just didn’t work out for them tonight. But to their credit, they didn’t quit down by 15 and almost pulled off a huge comeback down the stretch. Congrats Winnsboro on a historic win for the program.

Sure. I’d rather get torched through the air than watch him run for 250.

I believe you are correct. Only two seniors on the team. One injured and the other comes off the bench. Starting five are four Jr’s and a freshman. IMO- this year’s Winnsboro team may be a bit better than last year. Sure it hurts not having a 6’1 post player, but they just seem to play better as a team this year. If they can improve at the free throw line from Mon night (which I’m sure they will), they are going to be very tough to beat.

I may have to bust out the ol’ letterman jacket and check this one out Thurs. Played my last HS basketball game at Longview HS gym. Have not set foot in there since.
