  1. This was some of, if not the worst, officiating I have ever witnessed. Obviously, Jefferson was the better team and would have won, but there was a lot of holding, even to the point of tackling some times, that was not called. Several facemasks were overlooked that happened right in front of refs and two unsportsmanlike conduct flags waved off. Like I said, they would have won anyways, but why can't the refs just call a game down the middle without showing favoritism?
  2. I stand by the fact that Center was mauled the whole game and the refs permitted it. How can you explain a Carthage player leapfrogging a Center player and landing on his head with no foul called? And that is only one instance of fouls not being called. I admit, Center did not play well, but if the game had been called half way right, Center would have won by double digits.
  3. Let me explain what I said. I was NOT talking about football. I meant Carthage was playing basketball like it was a football game. They committed so many fouls that were not called. With only half of the 4th period left to go in the game, Carthage only had 5 fouls, 3 in the first half and 2 in the second half. Had the refs half way called the game right, half of the Carthage players would have fouled out. And still, they could only manage a 1 pt. win as badly as Center played. Last night showed a more exact representation of how much better Center is than Carthage in basketball.
  4. Carthage certainly had some home cooking in the first meeting against Center. They were still in football mode and only had 8 fouls the whole game. We played our worst game of the season and Carthage only managed to beat Center by 1.
  5. Bullard loses and Palestine loses. That puts us in the playoffs, right Crawford?
  6. Wow! I guess Center just has Kilgore's number, or has the last two years.
  7. Center defense holds. Turnover on downs. Center takes a knee a couple of times. What an upset!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job Center.
  8. Center up 40-28 late in 4th quarter and in field goal range. Center has already kicked a 45 yarder. Center turned the ball over on downs with 1:47 left to go.
  9. Wow. I'm surprised there are so few posts on this thread. Usually, Carthage has 8, 10, 12 pages for almost every game. What's going on?
  10. I have us making the playoffs, possibly beating Henderson for the third spot.
  11. I agree with you Eagle8. The screen pass could very well be our weakness on defense. I also think you are right about us being a year or two away from being "nasty". The future looks bright in Center as long as we keep Coach Bowman happy and he stays here.
  12. I'm here, just haven't posted anything yet. I am very optimistic after seeing the Tatum scrimmage. To me, we are head and shoulders above where we were at this time last year, but only time will tell. With that said, look out Rusk Eagles, the Center Roughriders are coming to town, and we ain't taking no prisoners.
  13. Ask anyone from Paris who watched our game and they will tell you Center was robbed. I had numerous people from Paris tell me at the Paris - Argyle game that we should have been the ones there playing. One was a retired referee from Paris and he said it was very bad referees. So, you just don't. You weren't there so you didn't see it.
  14. Great season 'Riders. Too bad you had to play the refs too. Even against those odds, you almost pulled it off.
  15. Paris has a good team but they let Argyle take them out of their game today. The refs didn't help matters by letting Argyle get away with almost all they wanted to. One of the refs today called the Center-Argyle game last night. The refs that called our game last night were horrendous. It was obvious who they were calling for. I won't give the number of team fouls that I was told we had but it was a whole lot to a little. But what more can you expect from a Dallas chapter when you are a team from deep east Texas. It's a shame they won't let the kids decide who the best team is. But, on the bright side, they won't have the Dallas chapter calling for them next weekend.
  16. I could be wrong, but I don't see any one person scoring that many points against Center.
  17. Shelbyville has a freshman, I think #15 that will drain treys from 5 ft. past the 3 point line if he is left alone.
  18. Center was without their best player and leader the first half of district. Plus, I believe they have played down to their competition in district. We did not play at the level we played before district when we were playing 5A and 6A teams. At this point, no 4A team has beaten us. We have been beaten by 2 5A teams, one of them twice, all in OT and all three games by a total of 13 points, if I'm not mistaken. And the other loss was to Pro Vision, a Houston area private school, in the semi finals of the Longview tournament, by 8 points. Pro Vision then beat the #1 team in 6A at the time for the championship, by 3. I think you will see Center step it up in the playoffs and play the way they are capable of playing.
  19. He must have edited his post. It had 3&0 for Carthage.
