  1. I will go with our Raiders to continue improving and defeat the Bears. Sunnyvale is split by US Hwy 80 at the eastern edge of Dallas county. We appreciate Brownsboro and East Texas in general for grooming, then providing us with our top administrator and head football coach, they have led us and are continuing to do more each year. Our 2018 Raiders have been playing well with key players on both sides of the ball. Moving up to 4A D2 will be a tough challenge but one that we will work to overcome. We have faced several ETX programs during our decade as a high school and we know that the road to a championship will require several games with the teams east of us both in preparation and playoffs. What is good at the stadium concession stand ? or do we need to be sure and run through Dairy Palace on the way. Stay safe.
  2. While it is early in the season but to hear of a shutout of a talented potent Malakoff team is great news to us in the Vale. Thanks for the update. We are looking to improve on last years run and going thru the tough ETX teams is a way to prepare. Stay safe.
  3. Does anyone have highlights or stats on the scrimmage between Sunnyvale and Malakoff ? Thanks. Stay safe.
  4. Now Billy Clyde, Calling the concrete and stainless steel dressing rooms "dumps" is a not quite accurate compared to the one hole outhouse lean-to sheds that other stadiums are fond of placing the visitors in. more of the home field advantage I guess. It had more than the unique radio antenna tower,(that had to be secured with additional guide wires for a time) Memorial was also the first to have a jumbotron(I think that was the official name) and a maintenance building beside the scoreboard that had a huge roof top fountain shooting up, it was common back in the day for the water to be colored or bubbled or both. MISD has always been conservative (making national headlines for having strict dress code and hair length policy for the guys) but building a stadium that could take care of the growth of the city , bring in extra $$ on playoff games and the cellular antenna space was genius. Still is. Stay safe.
  5. In regards to the question on 20,000 seat Mesquite Memorial. When it was built for about 3mill , there were 2 high schools in town and the annual rivalry game between Mesquite and North had outgrown 12,000 seat Hanby stadium which is on the campus of Mesquite HS. It was the premier high school stadium of its time then and remains the largest ISD stadium in the state , way before the plush sky box 60MM dollar large stadiums that currently do not sit more fans. It was built with equal stadium accommodations, not the usual HOME team set up with 75% of the seating on home side and half of that stadium chairs, will the visitors are sitting on no backed splintered bleachers with port-a-lets.. There have been many big games between the rivals but as the town added 3 more schools and divided the city among the levels there may be empty seats, unlike the one school towns who have been in existence since the early 1900s The stadium has been filled to capacity many games over the years including the NM-Permian game in the days prior to the internet when it was the battle of no.1 Stallions vs no.2 Permian in the USA newspaper rankings. North won that 27-0 before an overflow crowd of 21,000. When schools need a stadium that has equal facilities for an ISD stadium, Mesquite is a top choice. Waco did same thing in building their ISD stadium in 2000. McKinney will probably build an even one to with several schools playing each other. Memorial Stadium was the first of its kind and remains a great venue for football. Stay safe.
  6. Stats aside, In my 50+ yrs of watching the high school pigskin I have not seen the line of scrimmage controlled like Mineola does on both sides of the ball. They are some serious Clydesdales who time after time were making takedown blocks and making tackles while being blocked . The tandem of #8 and #9 will have Brock guessing and chasing all night, even after hitting them they were tough. We did not have the strong D stats that Brock or Mineola had but our D had improved greatly and were making plays along the way, they were part of why our Raiders went 4 rounds deep. It is impossible to make tackles when you have 300+lbs pinning you to the turf,. When they got the edge with the lead blockers it was next to impossible to get off the blocks to have a chance to contain them. This will be a tough game and even though this is Brocks second season of football, they are seasoned in the round ball playoffs and will bring it to Minny. GW63, the cannon will remain in the Vale; it got fired plenty with more booms to come. We are just getting started and will line with yall again I am sure. Stay safe.
