  1. The search firm is a complete joke! They're on to their next job, laughing at the fact that they got one of "their boys" another gig at a school he probably shouldn't have gotten. I did see on his last records where he hasn't beaten Crockett, which Rusk hasn't done in the past couple years either. Was knocked out of the playoffs in the first round by Mexia and Fairfield in the past two years. With all that being said, it's not Keel's fault that he was given the job over anyone else so you have to give him a chance. I hope he proves a lot of people wrong and turns that program around.
  2. Plus, it's way too early to tell a coach we can't find a spot for his wife. The school year isn't even over yet but teachers come and go every year. The school board shoud not accept that as an answer, that we can't find a job for a good coach's wife. If so, they need to be addressing the issue of who makes that decision....
  3. I wonder if by good coach they mean someone who has been an AD for 3 years, but assistant principal before that?
  4. From what I hear there are a few new ones that have filed to run. Should be interesting.
  5. As Uniballer stated, there are rumors swirling all over this place. From the ones I have heard, Rusk is going to be very, very disappointed. There were some great names in the hat when this thing got kicked off, doesnt sound like that's the case anymore. My sources tell me they're down to two, but I've heard a different two every time. Unfortunately, I don't see the Traylor being unhitched in Rusk for a very poor reason.
  6. Just post your thoughts WascullyWabbit, we all want to know.
  7. They are wanting to make a decision before and approve during the March board meeting which will be held on March 7th so they better hurry and make up their mind. The longer the off-season goes without a HFC the more the kids are suffering. You would think a special meeting would be a perfect time to make a recommendation to the board.
  8. The Denton thing is new to me, I was told there was a purple Bronco in the running but he's out of Dayton, not Denton.
  9. Exactly BigNasty, they're already on to the next job of submitting those same resumes in their database that didnt make the finalist list for the Rusk job. Maybe you should go hide in the bushes again and see what you can find out.
  10. I agree, the sooner the better. I knew Tatum was open, is Daingerfield open as well? My first thought when I saw Tatums opening was that a lot of these front runners will be interested there too.
  11. Dont hold your breath on the pirate being hired. I suspect them to be working on the second round of interviews this week. My sources are telling me that they are wanting to make a hire on or before their March (7th) board meeting.
  12. Upshaw is the best they have had there in a while, need more of those "old school" type coaches these days but you can't have them with the parents and kids our society has produced. I'm done with the D1 argument, I wasn't arguing that Mahaffey was better/worse than Patton, I was stating that Jeff Traylor is better than Mahaffey and if you disagree with that statement then you have lost all credibility with about 98% of coaches in Texas I am sure.
  13. I know there were a few FCS signees, but either way 4 out of 5 teams made the playoffs and Rusk only made it once under Patton. When Mahaffey was there, only 3 teams made it and Rusk won district twice... In a district with Carthage, Tatum, Chapel Hill.
  14. I just hope for their sake they get a good guy. The sooner the better, whoever they hire needs to get his staff put together and get his off season program going. I'm with Nasty, there's no way Rusk has 230 kids in a class. 200 maybe, but the other classes shouldn't be big enough to make them D1.
