  1. Yep. He can still take it. I would imagine he was wanting the Woodville job and once they offered it to the Beaumont Central guy, he resigned to go to Daingerfield. Job security for him if LK doesn't offer the job to him.
  2. If you're the hiring committee in Woodville and you've extended the offer and he's waiting to hear from somewhere else, you've got to be a little annoyed. I know it happens, but if he still goes to Woodville, everyone knows he had other jobs he was more interested in. (Not that you can really blame him. Going from a 5A to a 3A is a big drop on the coaching ladder (even though BISD is apparently a mess...don't blame him for wanting out). But still. It's got to sting a little that he's waiting to hear on other jobs (if that's true). I read that the current Woodville OC was approved at Daingerfield last night. I would imagine he was waiting to see if he was going to get the Woodville job and when he knew he wasn't, he went to Daingerfield.
  3. Just read on another site they are saying it's Toby Foreman from Beaumont Central. Going from a 5A to a 3A is interesting to me. Don't know much about either school though.
  4. Obviously the Bremond coach would be a good hire. I'm just saying you'll have a hard time convincing many people that the coordinators who have learned from Rhoades would not be a good hire. Everyone gets their first head coaching job at some point. I don't know those guys from anyone, I'm just saying that from the outside looking in, it doesn't look like the coordinator would be a bad hire.
  5. I can agree with PART of that. It would be insane to pass on Fedora. As far as anyone else, it would depend who it is.
  6. I agree. If I were a Cameron Yoe fan, I wouldn't be concerned at all. I would imagine that the board and administration will be looking for the best candidate possible. Not sure why highschoolfootball99 or bulldogs99 are so adimant that if they hire from within, the program will sink.
  7. Good call, I misread that. So you being a Yoe fan, do you think they should hire from within or look outside?
  8. http://www.kwtx.com/home/headlines/42937362.html As far as I can tell, Rhoades didn't have any head coaching experience when he was hired and it turned out pretty well for Yoe.
  9. I have no idea what is going to happen. Just wondered why you felt so strongly it would be bad to hire from within...
  10. Obviously you're not a fan of the DC. Who do you think thet should be going after? Someone with head coaching experience? Or a coordinator from a bigger program? Just curious.
  11. It's AD only. Can't think of his name now...Hair maybe?, but it's the guy that went to Mabank, was just there a few months, left to be the AD at Stephenville, now is at Salado as I believe the HC only.
  12. Was LK on spring break last week? I'd think they are trying to get things started on a new AD/HC this week.
  13. Staying in house isn't always a bad thing. Look at Gilmer. Sometimes there is no need to rock the boat when things are already going well. An outside hire means the new coach will usually want to bring a lot of their own coaches in. Staying in house secures that a lot of those current coaches don't leave.
  14. Here is the Centex list Jasper was referring to if anyone wants to look...pretty interesting. http://m.statesman.com/news/sports/high-school-football/salary-chart-austin-area-high-school-football-coac/nmTDF/
  15. I don't believe Navasota was on that list. I read it also. And you're right. Their starting salary isn't based on wins and loses to start out with, but they can be negotiated over time depending on their successes. That's part of what keep coaches from leaving one place to go to another. They use their opportunities at other schools to negotiate to raise their salary at their school. They can be negotiated. It's different than a teacher who has no wiggle room.
  16. Yes, forgot about them. Bowman got a good deal. I'd be shocked if Kennedale wasn't paying 100k.
  17. Arygle, Celina, Gilmer, Carthage, along with Navasota are pretty much the ones I was talking about who are consistently winning in 4A year in and year out. My other point in my original statement was that he has hung around Navasota when he could have left for a bigger classification and bigger paycheck than what he is getting now. Do you not think that is the case? That he could have gone to a bigger school and made more money, but chose to stay at Navasota?
  18. I think Navasota to Cameron is pretty much a lateral move. Wouldn't really call it a step down. Cameron will have a huge volume of applications, no doubt.
  19. Most (not all) at the 4A level and up who are consistently winning are making $100k or over.
  20. True. I'd imagine either a job has or is about to come open that he wants. Or since all this mess started he's figured out a lot of nasty stuff is about to go down and he wants out. He's obviously liked it in Navasota to stay as long as he has. He could have had a number of bigger jobs the last few years, but has chosen to stay (and do so for less money than most coaches winning that much). So yes, something has drastically changed recently.
  21. Doesn't sound good. Heard the superintendent doesn't have a lot of support. I'm sure Fedora is making his way out before things get even uglier.
