  1. The bar has been set pretty low in Cameron since last season. A district title will be a major improvement. In my opinion it is reasonable to expect a district title, in a rather weak district to say the least. If Coach Tommy and staff come up short on that district title goal yikes. When Rhoades was around State titles were in the Centex conversation, now district title is a hope for Yoe fans. As the Coach Tommy saga moves through the years I must remind Cameron fans Coach should not shoulder all the blame if their is constant failure in achieving the goal of a State Title. No one can blame Coach for taking a job that will improve things economically for he and family. Granted Coach took the job now he has to accept the criticism or praise. The folks who should be given a high percentage of the blame for any of Coach's failure would be the Sup and Board who made the hire. Their job was to evaluate and hire the best possible candidate for the job, if they missed on the selection or flatly refused to follow the procedure of hire the best Coach, then they deserve a portion of the blame. Just my opinion. I predict a district title for Cameron. Plus if they get in the playoffs they may surprise some folks, you got to remember the bar is set pretty low in Cameron. Hey in the end it is just a game played by kids.
  2. Seems fans do not trust Coach Tommy and staff ability to place the best players in the right positions. It seems Coach Tommy and staff going into their third season should have it all together by now. They got that 2 year learning curve out of the way. A Coaches son better be leaps and bounds better than the other players or the kids life on the field will be made pretty miserable by the fan base. Just a opinion. It is just a game as we all know. It does not take long for your team to become irrelevant as far as the chase for the coveted State title.
  3. I predict in the future you will see OC Zeinert become HC in Cameron and Coach Tommy become a assistant coach on staff-------the Sapp Mullins scenario explanation. Administration job may mess that prediction up. Sapp is remembered fondly in Cameron by a large group of fans. Coach Tommy will be remembered fondly as well. Both are home town guys.
  4. That what happens when your program becomes irrelevant. Hang tough Cameron Yoemen fans. Stay tuned for more news from the Admin and Board. I predict a Sapp ---Mullins scenario in the not to distant future for Yoemen fans. Yikes!
  5. Coach Tommy Brashear will get his four years or more. Coach Tommy chasing a ghost, Rhoades and York. We will see if the Admin and the Board made the right decision They wanted more control, they got it, lets see if they get one State title out of Coach Tommy., They use to talk titles in Cameron. Now they talk about playoff runs. Hang in there Cameron fans.
  6. Cameron probably got tired, a lot of games played and a hot day. Breaking in new OB and fighting among themselves a bit, but they still going to be number 1 in that weak district. To much speed and quickness to fall flat on their face. Cameron fans wait a couple more seasons and the Admin and Board will bring that Rhoades show back to the Cameron fan base. Cameron fan base will be tired of being irrelevant as far a football goes. If it ain't Rhoades it will be some top dawg coach who will make the fan base proud again. That is how it usually happens mediocre to average far four seasons or so, then they hit on on a top dawg. Hang in there fan base. That is the Cameron way.
  7. You may be right. But from what I heard the Sup and the board did not have the courage to usher Rhoades out the door. Too much grief would be coming their way from the fan base. But you right on that a couple of board members and the Sup wanted to run the athletic program their way. They got it, with year 3 coming up, let's see what they do with it. Odds are Rock will win another title before Cameron gets one. I guess that is what the Admin and Board wanted.
  8. Sir I believe you are right. When you get pass the Admin and the Board the support in Cameron seems to dwindle.
  9. The Bryson lady did ok for Cameron. Showed better than the guys in track. Lot of the Cameron board said Rhoades was a one trick pony, only football. When they hired the new Coach Cameron was going after a well rounded girls and boys program, something that Rhoades did not deliver. Coach Tommy's third year up coming, he ought to have it going his way this year in all sports.
  10. Yes Sir there is a question on whether the players or the coaches want to see play makers on both sides of the ball. If I was to guess it will be a struggle for Cameron to make it work. If Cameron is fighting each other in the public view during 7 on 7 I would say you have a bigger problem to resolve. When the new coaching staff took over in Cameron I was told by the Cameron fans that discipline was going to be brought back into the program. Fighting each other in public don't give your staff a high grade on discipline. Who got the OC job in Rockdale?
  11. Cameron knows who their QB will be. Brashear when district starts. Coach just making effort to dance around all the turmoil with the long drawn out competition scenario. Cameron has talent but this the first year in ages that they have to play that talent on both sides of the ball to be competitive. Lot of wide receivers gonna have to play DB also. If not the defense will be toast.
  12. Nation 79 is it true that Cameron players were fighting each other in a 7 on 7 contest, instead of mixing it up with the other team? It is nice when they put the pads on if you have a QB who can get out the pocket when things break down, but if your accuracy is like a scatter gun or your arm is weak, it makes no difference if you can scramble. If you going to make or break your season with a QB running the football you better have a stud like Rock had in Locklin. Vargas will play running back as well as linebacker this year , plus England and Bynaum if he plays. Cameron will be playing the play makers on both sides of the ball. Coach got to get the fans outside the board and administration back on his side. O-Line and Defense could be a total failure which will make all Cameron contender talk mute.
  13. Yoe offensive line will have to show major improvement, if not they will need all 3 QB'S because of injuries. Coach Tommy's son will start at QB in my opinion. Coach Young's son will be the go to receiver for Cameron when they put the pads on. Good hands and quick as a cat. All that depends on the OL giving the QB enough protection to get the ball to him.
  14. Rock don't have the linebackers and the soph at QB gonna set Rock back. could be a one hit wonder as far as the state title, but for sure Rock will win one somewhere down the line before Cameron.
  15. Coach Tommy will start the Senior at QB.. It is his job to win or lose Hey by district there may be two sophomores starting at QB in Milam County.. If the staff does not start the best players and play them both ways, last season football in Cameron will be a walk in the park compared to the negative push back the staff will receive from fans in Cameron this season. Pick Cameron to win district title , but the playoffs may get a bit rugged for the Cameron fan base. It such a weak district Yoe fans, unless some team comes out of no where to be dominant you got it in the bag.
  16. New season a lot of sophomores could start in Rock. Lost them linebackers to graduation. Rock playing for third in weak district.
  17. Watch 7 on 7 QB shoot out and see which QB starts by district. Very interesting battle when they put on the pads. Cameron will coast to the playoffs then it may get a bit rough and rugged for the Yoe if the staff can't make the in game adjustments. If they place the new OC in the press box during games , PLUS WORK DURING THE WEEK WITH THE OL they got a chance. I am sure there will be a combined coaching effort on the defense, Cameron has 4 LBS coming back, so all they got to do is replace 3 down linemen and 4 secondary folks. Some Cameron folks say the JV secondary was better than the varsity anyway so there should be no sweat there. Senior----Junior----Sophomore QB battle very interesting! All Cameron fans remember Rhoades started a soph at QB during his run and it paid big dividends.
  18. Yoe by 21 this time around unless Super Soph group for Rock is really great. Could get political in Rock this season. Yoe to much speed and quickness this season.
  19. You really think so? Why did he not let the OC who left call the plays and concentrate on D this past season? Sounds like Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett spin coming from Coach Tommy.Coach better be a jack of all trades, because there are a lot of weak links on the Cameron staff if last season record is any indication. Hope you are right, going to be a power struggle on that Cameron staff. Thank the UIL for giving Cameron a weak district fans. 1, Cameron 2. Rock. 3. Lago 4. Troy is how I see them finishing. But shoot the order could very well be reversed, who knows.
  20. Yea you probably right, that is old school thinking that track helps in football. Cameron probably plays golf and baseball and then goes right into 7 on 7. Cameron has one track athlete that might make regional in Waco been told. I doubt he gets much notice in Cameron since football is the bread and butter, plus golf and soccer.
  21. Don't know 2000 maybe one of the Cameron staff or a family member will give a update on the off season program and the track program.
  22. No one argues Locklin was the key player in the title run. My quote was going forward that Rock will win another state title before Cameron. Coach Miller is the best HC in the Cameron---- Rock district.
  23. The parents know what is going on inside the program. Most are afraid to speak because of retaliation against their kids. I am sure 7 on 7 will bring out the chatter in Cameron fans. How hard line the off season football workouts and the participation in the track program are sometimes a indicator on what approach is being taken by HC. A great staff is always a huge plus, but the HC calls the shots just as York and Rhoades in their tenure in Cameron. I agree with what you said in your quote. In my opinion you can't have the administration, the board or family members calling the shots it has to be the HC.
  24. You have a right to disagree and to your opinion. I just think moving forward Rock has the better overall chance of winning a state title Than Cameron. Rock will be down talent wise this season, so I pick Cameron to win district. If Rock beats Cameron this season there is major problems in Cameron football, Though Miller is the best HC in the district.
  25. Coach Rhoades was a tough act to follow in Cameron. Cameron fans certainly had one of the top rated coaches in their division. Most coaches have a ego and definitely do not like to be criticized on football boards. In my opinion you have to have the ego to be a good one. The real issue in Cameron football surrounds the fact that they have one of the highest enrollments in their high school within their classification. Which should be fertile ground for a head coach and staff to get the players out for the program and place them in the right position to win. So in reality forget the watered down district and concentrate on the million dollar question does Coach Tommy and his staff have the total coaching package to take the Cameron Yoe to another state title game and win. In my opinion that is what the silent majority wants and that is the question that surrounds Coach Tommy and staff, because Cameron better take advantage of this high enrollment and win, because mark my words they will be moving up to a higher classification unless something drastically changes in Cameron or the UIL keeps bumping up the top end enrollment figure. Adding a OC with head coaching experience is a plus, but Coach Tommy is the captain of the ship and has to place the right players on the field and coaches on the staff even if it is not politically correct. I guess Cameron fans in the know should look at their off season football program and their track program to see if the stern hands on approach is being taken by Coach Tommy. Regardless on which way it goes it is just a game and life goes on. Good luck Cameron fans chasing that coveted state title. Hope I am wrong but Rock will get one before Cameron.
