  1. Going way back in time to pre district. Celina scrimmaged Liberty Christian and it was kind of a stalemate with Liberty missing a couple of their D1 kids. Then, in week 5, Liberty drove to Amarillo and hammered West Plains 56-7 while missing a couple of their other D1 kids. Give me the Bobcats comfortably.
  2. #37 is Nigerian. Came to Liberty as a freshman and was just ruled eligible this year by TAPPS. He has no clue what he's doing right now.
  3. Didn't make the trip out east but heard it was a dominating win for the Buckeyes. The report I got was that the Gilmer speed was a level above what the Warriors had out there. That and the QBs couldn't make the plays needed to slow down the Gilmer pass rush. Running game non existent and Liberty OL dominated up front. This might be the last meeting for these two but Gilmer has showed Liberty two years in a row what a great team looks like.
  4. Well here's hoping Liberty can give you a good game tomorrow. Will be interesting to see if they try and open up the offense a bit or lean on the freshman the way they leaned on the junior. Officially out for Gilmer game at last check: Starting RB #1WR Starting RT Starting DT Starting DT Won't count the original starting C and RG since they've been out since after the first scrimmage. Players to Watch if you're a Buckeye fan #5 Kason Howell FS Committed to Auburn as a CF and plays basically the same role for the football team. Also will line up at WR, RB and QB. #12 Grant Sawyer SS/OLB Committed to Tulsa as OLB but plays the other safety spot for Liberty. Big hitter and good open field tackler. Will also play some WR. #37 Isreal Isuman DE This will be the 3rd game of his young career. 6'6" 230 with 4.7 speed. Very raw but played very well against Celina. Offers from Baylor and Oklahoma State (without having ever played a down of football) #24 (I think) Collin Gamble CB Sophomore is the best cover guy the Warriors have and will also play some WR. The LB unit has been a strength and has #6 that uses his speed to make a lot of plays. #51 is a stocky MLB and a very physical downhill player...Gilmer may be a bad matchup for his strengths as a player. #18 is the son of Sean Payton and has played really well early on.
  5. Typically not a ton of movement between Argyle and Liberty. Families decide between the two early on and seem to stick with it. This year noticeable because of the QB going to Argyle. The starting C followed him over there though Liberty got a 6'5" 260 sophomore OL from Argyle so think they're okay with that trade off. One thing this team has proven is they will battle as best they can. Just a really thin team...but talented when healthy.
  6. Hits keep coming. Apparently 2 DL out for this week. One coming off a 3 sack game vs Celina. That brings grand total to 3 OL, 2 DL, #1 WR, #1 RB by my count. Liberty has a bye week after Gilmer and then start District play. Looking like it's gonna be a rough one to end non District play. Would have loved to see Liberty take a shot at the Buckeyes at full strength. Don't think they would have won but it would have probably been more fun for both teams than what I anticipate Friday will look like now.
  7. 1- Argyle would dominate; Liberty not on their level 2- It's a lose-lose for Argyle; you win and you're right where you are now (Argyle doesn't lose many HS kids to Liberty) but you lose and you may open that door 3- Liberty wouldn't want to create any animosity because they are going to hope Argyle families choose Liberty at some point.
  8. Trust me my Copeland comment was purely tongue in cheek. That kid left because the defensive minded HC decided last year Liberty would go one way when District started and left NO ONE on the offensive line. Copeland ran for his life for two months last season and wound up hurt because of it. Those of us in the stands felt bad for Copeland and understood why he left. It was clearly stupid when they made the decision and has proven stupid over time. No shock that this year they've made OL a priority. That said the fact is Argyle is getting a lot more transfers in the past couple of years than they have in the past. That's what happens when you build programs like they have. Kids/Parents want to be a part of it. The starting center at Argyle is a Liberty transfer too. Best WR is from Coppell. A coach from Argyle also reached out to the dad of one of Liberty's remaining top players over the summer when he heard a rumor the kid was thinking about leaving Liberty. And 18 PAPF's says a lot about the makeup of your team. Argyle is a program with buzz and is receiving a lot of help from transfers. I personally don't have a problem with it because I don't think they're inducing these kids. It's just funny to me when the coaches at Argyle pretend the big bad wolf is the private school down the street that wants to recruit all the talent away. In fact this year Liberty may have got their first ever transfer from Argyle that will actually contribute. Most of Libertys athletes don't come from Argyle anyway. So there isn't this dilution of talent that some speak of.
  9. Liberty will be without their standout junior RB. Went for 163 against Melissa and close to 100 against Celina before getting hurt in the 4th. The run game was their chance to slow down Gilmer (if that's even possible). The backup RB (at least the one that has played in first two games) is a freshman. He has MAYBE played 10 plays in those two games. They could play some defensive players at RB like they have been at WR. Big loss and apparently could be out for a while. That loss and the injury issues on the OL really hurt the run game which means leaning on the QBs a little more; and that looks like a recipe for disaster at this point.
  10. I started out conservatively/optimistically/hopeful calling for a 42-28 game with potential to get worse in Gilmer's favor. Well if there was a line in HS football games...move this one waaaay further in Gilmer's favor. Hearing some bad news for this week and beyond. Gilmer 49 Liberty 14
  11. Nail on the head! Liberty coughed up three scores against Celina. Celina's one TD was on a broken play 10 second scramble and throw up a prayer with about 3 holding calls missed that got them inside the 5. Celina was manhandled by Liberty's front 7! Liberty should have won that game 28-0...will settle for 10-9 though because a W is a W. Argyle will destroy Celina. The QB the Eagles stole from Liberty will tear up the Celina D. He did it last year for Liberty with a terrible OL and banged up WR corps.
  12. Warning: Long Post -Liberty has two players on roster with D1 offers. One of their senior safeties, Grant Sawyer, is committed to Tulsa as an OLB. They also have a junior DE that has offers from Baylor and Oklahoma State as of now. He played his first football game against Melissa in game 1. He's all projection right now but did wreak havoc against Celina. -They do have another senior safety that's a D1 athlete...but is committed to Auburn for baseball...not football. -They have quality players elsewhere but not sure where the "4 D1 players" is coming from. -This is a much improved team...especially defensively. They have a solid front 7 and the two senior safeties are very good. They also have a sophomore CB that looks like he will be a top notch DB one day. -The OL is also vastly improved...but unfortunately banged up already. They lost their starting C (220 pound soph) and RG (285 pound senior) for the year during pre season. They moved another senior (6'3" 280) from his original starting spot to center and he got hurt against Melissa. Came back against Celina but has a scary injury history. Against Celina they lost their starting RT for what will probably be a month or so. Their LT (6'5" 260 Soph) and LG (6'1" 250 JR) have managed to stay healthy and have looked pretty good. The big senior center is a great OL when healthy. At RG and RT they are now having to play a senior that hasn't played football since Middle School and a JV callup. -They are without their #1 WR until District play begins. He hasn't played this year and missed the first three games last year as well with a different injury. He had 4-5 100 yard games in the 7 he played last year. -They do have some serious talent but a lot of skill guys have to play both ways some of the game. That will really hurt against a team like Gilmer that goes at such a fast pace. -The RB is the best offensive player...and he came out of game twice against Celina with an injury. Not sure of his status. He's an explosive runner with very good speed. -The QB situation is what has kept the offense from being productive thus far. They are playing two juniors equal time and neither has played well yet. Neither are runners and both have looked very average. This is especially hard to watch with last year's starting QB dominating for Argyle right down the road. He had to carry the team last year and unfortunately left without getting to play with this much more complete team. The depth issue, injuries along OL and mostly the QB problem look like they'll be too much to overcome against Gilmer. Liberty physically dominated Celina's OL which took away the power run game that is Celina's staple offense. Against Gilmer, the pace of the offense and how quickly the ball is out could completely negate the DL. Combine that with several of the LBs and DBs having to play offense as well and I feel like Gilmer will get to 42. I don't see any way Liberty can put up that many points offensively with the QBs playing the way they have been. Prediction: Gilmer 42 Liberty 28 Gilmer could blow it wide open if Liberty sustains anymore injuries to what is already a paper thin Warrior squad.
