  1. Well Van brought their fans and Henderson brought their officials and you see how that worked out. But Van played their off and gave them all they wanted. I sure can't be more proud. Dog out!
  2. Van isn't scared. Van has won a lot of football games over the last 11 or so years, especially the last 4 or 5. Some of the post on here seem to imply your the only ones to ever be in the playoffs. You know they do play some tough football outside the "district of doom" right? Kaufman, Paris, LE and Kennedale they all bring it. You can count on Van being there and being ready to go Friday night. The stands will be over flowing and the fans will be loud. Rain or Shine. I think this will be one of the best games in east Texas this weekend. I think most people feel that way and hope there isn't a lot of delays due to weather.
  3. I see some smaller classification games being rescheduled already. I noticed predictions changing about the severe weather being farther east and they moved it a little west. Seems like everyone in agreement now the area has an even better chance of severe thunderstorms. I wonder about playoff games and delays too. Seems like I've heard they can't play over so many hours or after midnight or something. I'm sure somebody on here knows the rules. We may be missing the Star.
  4. I'm not sure we will ever know for sure why this game is being played in Whitehouse. My previous impressions of Moffatt has been he would play anybody anywhere. He knows Van travels well and the fans will be there wherever the game is played. I was surprised to see this venue.
  5. Never under estimate a Vandal. It's hard to explain until you have seen it. These young men play hard every snap and have heart. It will be a fight to the end.
  6. After seeing the Henderson and Carthage scores anybody want to rethink their score predictions on this one? Still thinking it will be an even matched shootout. Maybe it will be 35 to 7 Van. Are the East Texas programs that much better than the Houston area programs like some are saying? Let's go Vandals hold up your end and let's prove what I've been hearing. That you belong in the district of doom.
  7. The Kaufman QB will show you what speed is. If you give him a crack he will make you pay.
  8. This will be close and come down to the wire. Kennedale want be running away with it. I'm going with Kaufman in the end. I wasn't that impressed with Kennadale. Kaufman deserves a little respect and hope they get some after this game. I'll be rooting for Kaufman.
  9. Carthage, Argyle, Heritage, Vega. I was not impressed with Kennadale at all. Kaufman has a strong team. Can Heritage win the whole thing? I know Carthage is good but it's hard to stay on top when you get everybody's best game every week. I think the championship game will be a good one to see.
  10. Kaufman - enjoy that #1 seeding you got by taking care of business and winning district because it gets a lot tougher after this week. Good luck!
  11. We were 9 and 1 and 4A D1 so I'm not being a sore loser or wanting to bash refs but this was the worst season I have ever seen. They don't seem to know all the rules and look confused a lot. They also seem to want to be overly involved in the game and way too many penalties called one sided. Call it the same on both sides. It's not your job to help the weaker team. The game isn't about them. Why does it seem like one or two officials call non stop penalties and the rest of the refs don't even seem to be at the same game? With all that said then they don't call the hold that gets the RB around the corner and never call the DB for riding and holding the receivers. Just be consistent and fair is all I ask.
  12. I don't know much about HS but have seen Mineola play this year and last year a couple times. Even though this years version is a completely different team after high graduation losses it would be hard to believe Mineola goes out in first round. I thought they played hard and with a lot of pride in a loss at Van. Good luck to Mineola.
  13. I keep hearing how bad the LE defense is and the same is said about Brownsboro. This might be a very high scoring game. The Bears only beat two bad teams in their district and I did not hear how the Bears lost to Athens at home but Athens didn't make the playoffs. With that said good luck to the Bears. I really thought they might have been a force in this district but they couldn't stack up against Van and Kaufman. I love the Pine Tree venue. We lost a first round game to LE there 2 years ago and I had hoped for a rematch there this season but it didn't work out.
  14. This game could go either way. Van has not been very consistent the last few weeks. They make everything harder than it needs to be. These two teams have played 3 times already in last two years. Van has won them all. Hard to beat a team 4 times in a row. If Van is thinking about Kennadale next week Princeton will finally get a win over Van. There are several reasons why Princeton could get a win in this game but if Van puts it together and executes they have the talent to win. Hope they build off some good things they did last week. Defense got back to flying to the ball and playing a little more physical and they established a running game with #21. It should be fun. I have to believe Van has just been waiting for the playoffs to start and gets it all together and takes this one 49 to 24. And what's wrong with game site?
  15. After playing Brownsboro I thought they would make a run for second in district but seems they still have a little work to do. Crandall plays tough run defense. They really get after you and play physical. I'm going with Crandall in this one.
  16. It will be fun to see what they can do. I look forward to matching up against some great competition in the playoffs to see what they can do. QB has the heart, toughness and leadership and the Vandals always seem to rise to the challenge but I believe it takes a little luck and a great team to make it all the way. Hope they make it!
  17. Van needs to get focused and stay focused to win this one and make a playoff run. This is the time of year the good teams rise up and show what they are made of. Defense needs to step up and play with a swagger and be more physical. I hope to see a healthy defense get nasty! Somebody needs to stuff the run in the hole. Cut out the dumb penalties that keep them on the field longer. That blitz we run where the running back runs by the blitzers for 25 yards drives me crazy. I think they show that to early and should change it up sometimes and blitz at the snap but I'm not the coach and they are undefeated. Offense needs to take what's available and don't force it. We have shown we can run the ball well behind that offensive line and the passing game will come without forcing it. Sometimes I feel like we aren't satisfied running the ball for 7 or 8 yards a carry and are determined to throw it 35 yards down field. Remember the power I days. I don't think we have seen the best from the Vandals yet and I hope we get to see that in Kaufman. I think this will be the most exciting and competitive game of the year and the starters will play all 4 quarters. Van's O line might take over and #10 has the ability and heart to lead this team to a 4th qtr victory if he has to. We got to see a glimps of that in Brownsboro. Van 42 Kaufman 28.
  18. Always have enjoyed watching Woods play. Give him the ball more he's a playmaker and has heart. Kaufman I'm guessing wants to run the ball for 350+ yards after watching Van. I'm going with Kaufman in this one because I don't think Bears defense can stop them from scoring. If the Bears defense steps up and stops Kaufman and they win this game. I'll pick them to win out and be #2 playoff team.
  19. I called that score perfectly! Proud of how our guys hung in there and played hard till the end. Great to see #10 running like a beast again. Bet we see some more of that in the playoffs. Nothing like the QB running over guys and scoring TD's - that is some great stuff.
  20. I expect the Bears to come out fired up with guns blazing. It's going to be tough to beat Van but it will be close in the first half. The Vandal defense rises to every challenge and those kids are scrappy. I thought the offense came together last week and the OC called a great game. Van established a running game without getting the QB beat to death and connected on short passes. This set up the long ball. The offense was on fire last week and those receivers showed us all what they are made of. No drops and big play capable from them all. The O-line was a wall. This combination is hard to defend for any high school defense. The Vandal offense also puts great pressure on the opponents offense to keep up. Seems like every week it's close and then Van jumps out by 14. I don't think the Bears have faced an offense like Van this year so this will be a good test for them. I think the Bears may have a playoff team this year and I expect them to test our defense. I think Van gets 49 and Bears 35. Van needs to stay focused and get better every week. They have the tallent to go 10-0 but do they have the focus.
  21. I think if Palestine is going to win they need to score more than 49 points. If Van's offense is pushed to score more they might put up 70. Those receivers can go, O Line is dominant and QB is experienced. Not sure Palestine can slow the offense down and I don't see our defense giving up more than 21 points. But I do think it has potential to be a good first half. I see it being 42 to 21 but just my opinion.
  22. Maybe this will be a statement game for Mineola. I know your kids have a lot of pride. I'm going with a Mineola win in this one.
  23. Terrell by 14 - they may have graduated a lot of kids but they will be more athletic than Van was. I just don't see how Lindale can put up enough points to stay with them.
  24. I thought the Van team had an incredible team chemistry last year. The adversity this team overcame against Princeton in the first half pulled this team together and I see the same type chemistry developing. There was some great senior leadership on the field Friday night. The defense rose to the challenge and allowed the offense to come from behind. The two units fed off each other and the fans were loud (Princeton stands were empty). I saw new kids stepping up and filling the positions left open with graduation. There are a few new faces on offense that are showing they are going to be playmakers this season. I also appreciated as things got in the ditch in the first quarter the coaching staff stayed positive and the kids stayed positive and I saw them encouraging each other on the sideline. I agree that this week in Lindale will not be a blowout like last year. The game last year got away from Lindale early and everything Van did worked like a charm. I would not expect to see the Van offense struggle at the start two weeks in a row and don't think Lindale will slow Van down much. I think Van puts up 49 and Lindale 24. Don't be surprised if the Vandal defense gets better each week and holds Lindale to 14. I need to see the young secondary stop allowing receivers behind them to hold teams to lower scores. One thing I do know is these kids will play their tails off and make us all proud to be a Vandal. Van will pack the stands and be loud and it will be an exciting game. GO BIG RED!
