  1. Daingerfield '83 may beg to differ. lol
  2. Madisonville gave Rusk a game then just went to Center and beat them. Can they give Carthage a run?
  3. Going with Madisonville. They played Rusk tight and had a chance to beat them late.
  4. No politics here..... I do always find it funny that when someone can't defend their stance in an argument it immediately turns to name calling and/or insinuations. So yeah I'm done with you too. Open-minded discussion may be too advanced for you.
  5. You are right..... Marines are put through the ringer because they are defending a country and put in situations of kii or die (life or death)...... while football players are 14-18 year old kids playing a game for fun. I see your correlation completely. I hope you see the sarcasm....... I also don't say that football players are "going to battle" or "to war". Personally think that is a disservice to our military, my Grandfather who retired from the US Navy after Serving in WWII, then retired from the Army after serving in Korea taught me that. With that said..... Thank you for your service! I mean that!
  6. Comparing football to the Marines is ridiculous. This Covid stuff is serious, and if you do not think so then there is no talking to you.
  7. I wish I could talk about how great I was....but everyone from D'field in the 80s time that are on here know who i am. lol They know Jabo was just average. lol
  8. Stuts ran a heckuva 800 also. Not to mention could throw the discus really far. Steve was one of the best athletes I every played with..... His son aint too shabby either.
  9. You don't know Shawn Wells if you think he isn't playing Timpson because of the record....... Just saying.
  10. I get it.... you are frustrated. But if i have 20 on my roster and 6 are covid positive, then is it in my kids best interest to show up with 14 players for a Varsity game? I'm not even sure if that would be allowed. Not sure that is the case in Sims, but sometimes you have to look at it differently when parents put you in charge of kids health and safety. With Covid if you have 6 kids test positive on Tuesday and Wednesday, it would make sense that you could very possibly have more the next day. By canceling Wednesday Timpson has the chance to find an opponent. If they "waited to see" and had to cancel Thursday afternoon or Friday, wouldn't that put Timpson in even more of a bad situation?
  11. I hear you. But like I said, its not always the coach's decision. As a coach I will show up and play with 15 kids, but it ain't always my choice. I have bosses and if they say cancel....we cancel. It blows that Timpson is getting canceled on, but small towns can't absorb losses to Covid like bigger towns. Bowie is getting a spike in cases in the town and the team. Stepp might not have said that's why the game is canceled, but I guarantee the coaches at Timpson know that is the reason. 99% of the games being canceled this year are for Covid. Hopefully Timpson doesn't have to deal with it this year, but if it does happen hopefully the fan base of the other school won't come on and dog them for being quitters.
  12. If you think a coach wants to cancel a game you really don't get it. Most times that decision is made by Admin. If they do cancel it has nothing to do with competition level, it is about what is best for their kids and community.
  13. The big name players are fun to talk about, but what really makes a great team are the guys that start and don't get the accolades. 1 that comes to mind in 83 was Tim Lipham. Dude started 16 games at Defensive end. The rest of that defense had stars at almost every position, but Tim was just that steady player who never made a mistake. I've always been partial to those guys, since I was one of them myself.
  14. Ten years ago Celina was considered pretty rural. I remember in mid 90's when Frisco had 6000. lol
  15. Thomas Everette, Eric Everette, Willie Everett, and Vic Edmond in my mind. That order.
  16. Dylan Moses? David Sills? Both were offered in 7th grade. I'd say they panned out.
  17. They Tried it in Houston. Didn't work. Half the attendance.
  18. Largest Coaching Organization in the country. They lobby in Austin for our benefit. They offer benefits such as insurance. They offer scholarships for coaches kids. Coaching pass gets you in free to all playoff games. But also a great way to network. This business is often times "who you know", THSCA allows you to "know" more coaches.
  19. Why do they want him? I keep reading on this thread, and others, that the discipline is lacking there and that a certain coach is part of the problem..... if I was a player I'd want that coach to be boss cuz I already know what I can get away with.
