  1. When a majority of the band director's get tired of it, they will complain to the supts and they will push the UIL to enact a rule... so yeah the Supt level.
  2. If a band kid moves he doesn't the the spot of a kid that has been there.... both still get to compete. But also let's look at what I said....It is only a problem in athletics because it was rampant and the coaches didn't want it happening.... when band director's decide they don't like it, there will be a rule.
  3. Touche.... that kid didn't bump them down by moving... they bumped them by having better grades... The kid earned the Valedictorian spot.
  4. Every school I have ever worked at has rules in place that keep this from happening. Not all the same, but some sort of rule. I want you to name me one time you have seen a SR. Move-in get Valedictorian or Salutatorian? You know JJ I have little doubt you can come up with 1 Million scenarios to prove yourself right..... but lets try something a little more feasible than this. This one is about as likely as monkey's jumping out of your butt! LOL
  5. Who said it was ok? The rule isn't in place in sports and not in other things because it is rare for a kid to move towns in order to be able to compete in other things outside of sports. If people start moving rampantly in One Act Play and making it unfair, then I bet that rule gets put in place. What you don't understand is when and how the rule got put in place.... It wasn't the legislature who wanted it, it was the coaches. Back in the 50's during the oil boom schools were popping up and oil companies were hiring/transferring employees to certain towns based on football playing ability of their kids. They were stacking teams to win state. The coaches in other towns were pretty ####, and should've been. They put pressure on the sports governing body to put a stop to it. Hence "the athletic purposes rule". Government didn't make the rule.... the schools did. Rule are in place because something "bad happened" and they became necessary. Follow them or don't play the games.
  6. Unfair is in the eye of the beholder. Is it more unfair that I live in a district and play sports, work my tail off to get my "opportunity" to play, and some kid who has more money and parents can just up and move.... comes in and takes my spot because he has more natural ability. And the only reason he moved was to play on my team. The rule is to keep the playing field "somewhat" fair for everyone.... is it the best solution? Debatable.. but until someone comes around with a better solution, its what we got.
  7. It is the the parents decision. Move your kid if you want. But if you move for athletic purposes then your kid won't get to play. It is your decision to speed, but if you speed and get caught you have consequences. Same thing. Play within the rules.
  8. Greg Started 1 game at QB as a freshman in 1985. He did not win 50 games as a starter. Jamie was our Starter in 1985.

  16. Are we talking about the teacher getting stabbed to death in his classroom by a student?
  17. if you are talking 09..... then the kid was definitely attending JT at the time. He was sitting in the teacher's class. No girl was involved. He was just severely Mentally Ill.
  18. What are you talking about? The 09 stabbing?
  19. How is Lufkin going to be this year? Know they had a good run last year, but how will they fair in the 6A District with The Woodlands, Montgomery, Oak Ridge, College Park, and Conroe?
  20. Going with HD this game. I love the old smash mouth game they play. Saw 8 films of Overton this weekend and was very impressed with their O. But don't think they are going to be ready for the pounding that HD puts on people. HD 30 Overton 28
  21. DB went for interception and it bounced off his hands into receivers for a TD. Defense gave up 6 points.
  22. Was not a pick 6. Was a tipped ball. Should've been intercepted. Other 2 points came on a punt snap over punters head
  23. Baseball is a School Sport. Little league is a League that sponsors baseball. Hence League Sponsored School Sport. If they were paid to coach "Cricket" they would not be in violation.
