A lot to a little.

He’ll be fine, could’ve played in 2nd half if really needed.

Played with a soph backup QB for the last 3 qtrs, in tandem with a freshman RB the entire 2nd half. Youngens stepped up today…. and Defense was tremendous again.

Regional Semis #4 Iowa Colony vs #6 Chapel Hill Bulldogs
Aggie98 replied to Chill5000's topic in High School Sports
I think some of y'all done skipped breakfast and are hangry. -
So Needville has a big offensive line and they are good. They are a run first offense led by a really good RB named Da'Shawn Burton (5'10" - 175 lb Jr) who averages almost 200 yds/game on the ground and has 30+ TD's on the year. The QB, Keilan Sweeney (#4) is also a good runner and a pretty decent passer. They have a speedy little slot receiver named Jamarkus Jack who is dangerous on screens and jet sweeps. Defensively, they're not bad... but they have given up a lot of points to good teams..... 50 to Bay City, 49 to Iowa Colony, 42 to Navasota. The little RB from Bay City had 306 rushing yards and 4 TD's against them. I think Kilgore's offense puts up a big number in this one and if they can bottle up Burton, they should win comfortably.

You sure they have 31 INT's in 12 games? That number doesn't seem realistic. -
Needville's offense is very good. Their defense is not bad, but it's gettable. Kilgore will have to bring their A game in this one.

Kilgore held Chapel Hill to 16 pts, and 7 of those were because we gifted them the ball on our own 1 yard line. If Iowa Colony can top that, then you could be right. -
Well I guess they were not paper tigers.

Been almost 3 months since I've laid eyes on either one of these teams. I remember PG having some freakish looking players and a lot of team speed. I've heard they could have as many as 9 D-1 players on their roster. Carthage was young when we played them, but their D-line and RB's are second to none. Looking at their schedules, they've both had relatively light lifting the last couple of months. Everything considered, I have to take Carthage in this one. Their defense is legit and they're probably going to be more well-prepared in the special teams aspect. And this is basically a state championship game in the 3rd round. Can someone remind me what Surratt's record is in state championship games?

I can't see Chapel Hill getting by Iowa Colony either, nor do I see Needville getting by Kilgore. But you never know what will happen in the playoffs. A very wise football coach once told me.... "ain't no turkeys left after Thanksgiving".

I don't see Chapel Hill beating IC either.

I just finished re-watching this game..... this might have been the best game our defense has had all year. You give a team as good as Bay City 5 free possessions with 4 of them deep in your own territory... and hold them to 28 points is damn good. And when it came down to crunch time... we picked them 3 times and housed one of them. Tremendous effort to keep this train on the tracks.

It was a nightmare stretch. I think we've only had 7 or 8 turnovers the entire season coming into that game and had 5 in a handful of minutes.
-
Lumberton's QB sailed about every pass he threw for the 1st quarter and a half resulting in 2 INT's with 1 being a pick-6. Lumberton's defensive line is pretty good, but on perimeter runs there's really nothing to stop Needville's RB.
-
Halftime. Needville appears to be the better team from what I've seen.
-
Yes, I think it's 10 or 12 bucks for a month
-
Reminder…. Lumberton and Needville play tonight at 7 on Texanlive.

Bay City is a good football team and are very capable of giving Kilgore all they want if the Black Cats play a great game. A good defense with an accurate passer with talented receivers is a good formula to beat anybody. That said, if you made a list of all the things you wanted your football team to be strong at.... Kilgore would check all the boxes. If I were an opposing coach and I had to put a game plan together to beat Kilgore..... I wouldn't have any idea where to start.

I honestly can't remember the last time Kilgore was trailing in a football game. It might have been against Gilmer in week 2.

3:15 for us, 1:45 for them.
