Hughes Springs used to have a school district that kids wanted to join and be a part of now it seems only the softball team is doing well. Just saying.

From what I have heard the problem is Pewitt has gone away from the discipline in the school and it has now infested the football program. Kids and parents are different nowadays, school board rarely changes and same people will prolly be on a committee that will let one or two on the committee decide on the new coach. Sad but true

Tidehaven deserved to win. Their gameplan hurry up offense tired out the D'field defense by the fourth quarter it took it's toll. D'field had a great chance after the Tidehaven TD to tie by running kickoff back to Tidehaven 45 with 2 minutes left and 2 timeouts but for whatever reason D'field let so much time run off the clock and never getting the ball to their best receiver the entire time. Best team and coaching staff won, maybe D'field learns something from this loss.

I know I tried to watch several games this past Fri and Sat but it kept freezing up and it was very frustrating. It's sad that up until this season NFHS wasn't too bade but lately somebody needs to get it fixed.

I know from playing Pewitt in the Slot T they had big tough strong lineman who would get after you combined with a powerful fullback and athletic tailback who could scoot. Qb was always a smart and talented player who could get the tough yards and make good decisions. Maybe the kids today in Pewitt aren't the tough physical types needed for that type of physical play. Maybe the community is just tired of seeing that type of offense and want to go to spread. Liberty Hill has been running it for years with great success and are still playing this week.

Pewitt football is big and people expect the football team to play with pride and discipline. Expectations that any coach who gets the job needs to be aware of. Sad that many have used the job to move up and move on. Most head coaches who have been there have moved on to bigger schools with better pay only exception is Kumrow and he prolly could have left many times but his love for Pewitt is strong. Good luck to the next coach who comes to take on the challenge.

Looking at his years there it seems there has been a steady decline from when he took over til this season. That usually doesn't bode well for anyone from a school that has been in playoffs for years. Maybe they just need to clean house and start over. This is the first year they have missed the playoffs in many years so coaching change wouldn't be unexpected.

Not saying Coach Dorsey is a bad guy at all. If he not running his stuff and he is the head coach then that is on him. Slot T averaged 40 points most head coaches would take that in a heart beat. If he wasn't running his defense then why was he the head coach since he wasn't running what he wanted.

It's not about being a great guy most head coaches are great guys especially those at Pewitt through the years its about using the talent you have to the utmost. Pewitt averaged almost 40 points a game this year but had few wins so where does the fault lie. So what do people say the offense had talent and the defense didn't? At Pewitt most of the players prolly played both ways as do most of the teams they had to play. Sounds like a lack of discipline and attention to detail somewhere. Get the discipline back people there won't stand for undisciplined play and they brag about Pewitt winning the right way.

Heard that Coach Davis had parted ways with LE. What is the problem at LE? Know they have athletes so why can't they win?

So Pewitt didn't make the playoffs when was the last time that happened. Can Dorsey survive?

So what happened to cause the fight on the Mt. Pleasant sideline? Coaches and players on same team fighting each other? Can't see the outcome of this being good especially since they have another game to play. Wonder if some will get suspended and could coaches be suspended also?

Tough year for many in East Texas but THIGH will rebound and come back strong next year. To much talent to slide downward. MARSHALL-got a top notch coach who knows how to win and year 1 obviously had growing pains next year they may challenge big time HALLSVILLE-fantastic offense offset with average defense they upgrade on D and they will be tough. PINE TREE-has been trending up and should be in middle of playoff run next year NACOGDOCHES-very good talent that needs to be utilized better but that has been Nachs problem for years. MOUNT PLEASANT-history shows MP makes coaching changes often, they chase one offense after another but give little time to coaches to develop it. Parent problem also big that needs solution.

Teams that give up 374 points on defense like Pewitt does aren't in playoffs very long.

Hard to believe Pewitt has fallen on hard times. Do they still have chance for playoffs? They have played Dekalb and Hooks close and they are frontrunners.

Looks like could be a dogfight for 4th so many teams with a chance to play Lovejoy in first round.

What are the standings in Texas High district? Who will be the top 4 and who are out? Any disappointments?

On kickoff ball is kicked deep toward corner of endzone, kick returner runs over and instead of letting ball go out of bounds leaps and with one hand slaps ball back into field of play at 1 yard line and kicking team recovers, next play they score.

How did Mt. Pleasant look against Greenville?

Figure changes will be made by the head coach next season. It didn't happen this year because of the covid issue and what Pewitt had coming back along with the season they had last year. Not sure what coaches preferred offense is but look for changes coming.

What the heck is wrong with Dfield offense, looks like defense holding up but can't score. Though this was a state champion in the making but after watching them looks like a disappointment again.
