Looking at the Celina Film, I don't think they run a true 10-1 its a hybrid. They drop the backers on several plays I seen on film. When they bring that 8 man look things have to happen quick for the offense because the backfield is swarmed with orange. To put your safety on an island like that? That safety better be a stellar open field tackler because PG is stupid fast in the open field. Another thing I notice is the OLB has to drop with a tight end on routes. That seems to leave a huge hole off tackle. Then again if he doesn't run with the tight end that will leave the TE wide open. With a TE like Benson trust me Celina does not want him in the open field with just one safety. I think TJ and Zay will have success against Celina. I also think wheel routes by the PG backs will be successful. Like I said, The players have to execute!
Celinas safety is a really good open field tackler. In that defense Celinas MLB and Safety have to be the two best defenders tacklers in the field.

Oh, like you jumping on the Celina bandwagon?
I'm sure the Gilmer faithful are laughing at your comment about us people not from Gilmer jumping on their bandwagon, especially a Bear. Your statement is even more ludicrous because you have no clue the history between the two schools. Being just 15 miles apart means we are pretty familiar with each other. In fact growing up my mom owned a business in Gilmer. I played softball on a Gilmer team, in a Gilmer league. Went skating on the weekends at the rink. Went to doctors in Gilmer.
We may have one of the hatest rivalries in all of Texas, but never have I not respected them or rooted for them in the playoffs (well except that 2014 game in Lobo). We've probably played each other more years than you have been alive, so jumping on a bandwagon isn't how I would explain it.
Oh, by the way, I have 3 cousins in the Buckeye band and 2 on the football team.
Well congratulations, I didn't need to know all that information. I have learned the two favorite things for East Texas people to do is jump on Gilmers bandwagon and play the banjo lmao 😉

Pleasant Grove QB can sling it man; I've seen it..Just because he doesn' have to very much doesn't mean he can't.
I don't mean that he can't, I just don't think they throw enough to beat Celina, but if they do I'll come take all the abuse.

I don' think this will be a blow out and I believe this game will be a good close game and both teams will definately score in the 30's and 40's; i just hope Gilmer is on the rite side of it and hope both sides leave the game with no serious injuries..Cant wait till Friday Night..

First off have to say that I have signed a new build contract on a home in Melissa within the past couple months so I now have a vested interest in the Cardinals and have attended their past 2 playoff games. I'm moving from Flower Mound zoned to Argyle HS and have attended most of the Argyle playoff games in the past 10 years, so I have seen Gilmer on multiple occasions. I have great respect for the Buckeye program. I also had the fortune to see that 2014 Gilmer team at Jerry World and think that was one of the better TX small school teams I've ever seen.
With that said if any Gilmer fan thinks they are getting anything close to the past 3 Melissa teams they have witnessed they are nuts. Yes, Gilmer did outscore those teams 178-6 but those Melissa teams were 4-7, 1-9 and 8-4..this years version is 11-1 and think if not the first game jitters from a green Soph QB would be 12-0. IMO if Melissa played Liberty from week 3 on would have won by a wide margin (probably not 60-7 like Gilmer did ). Look at the Cards results against Celina during the past 3 years. They lost all 3 by at least 5 TDs and got outscored 136-27. This year completely different story as Melissa rolled 35-14 and they were clearly the more physical and much more athletic team. Celina may be down a bit from past years but so is Gilmer. You do not surrender 406 points in 12 games unless you have some problems on the defensive side of the ball no matter who you have played.
I personally think Gilmer must be favored to win by a small margin, but Melissa is loaded with offensive weapons (as is Gilmer) and would be shocked if either team scores less than 30 or if either team wins by more than 14. Should be a great game at Mesquite Memorial under the 'Tel Aviv tower' as I call it.
Welcome to Melissa and well said.

Rusk gift wrapped it and turned it over 6 times......don't expect Gilmer to do the same.
Gift wrapped it huh? More like Melissa wore them out and stripped the ball, Go watch the game. I just wonder what the excuse will be after Melissa wins friday?

I think there is a misunderstanding that he doesn't pass because he can't. That is totally bogus. He doesn't pass much because PG hasn't had to pass much. The kid scared me just watching him warm up before the game. Before I knew it he was 2 for 2 for 150 yards and 2 TD's. The kid can throw the ball and more than that is a leader on the field. After seeing him throw a few passes I was hoping the PG coaches would just call running plays. Believe me Celina doesn't want him to throw the ball and if they do, they're crazy!
I'm not saying he can't throw it I'm saying they don't throw it. Your not gonna win a title being one deminsional very often at this level.

Do you think coaches in East Texas don't have discipline? You have no clue what the Gilmer coaches will do, so stop with the accusations.
Whether he plays or not, Gilmer doesn't need him to beat Melissa.
Did I say they didn't have discipline? No I didn't. I said he should be suspended, but I'm sure that's not gonna happen being in the 3rd round of the playoffs. Had it been in the regular season maybe. I'm sure at the most they made him run a little or rolled him. Actually to be completely honest I don't care what they do with him, I like watching all you people get butt hurt especially those of you who arnt even from Gilmer yet jumping on the bandwagon for them. I guess if you can't beat them join them huh lmao.

Well, other than Tatum, they have counted big. Not sure what film you watched but kid has been 7 for 7 with 4 TDs and 7-8 with 3 TDs in last three games. Tatum he was bad, but it was his first playoff game.
I'm just saying he is gonna have to pass the ball effectively to give PG a chance. If he can pass for 2-3 Td's PG wins simple as that. Celina has a shaky secondary. Dline and backers are really good though.

Man why do u keep beating a dead horse let it go ur trying to find ways to win just let it go because ur starting to act like a female
The kid is a good player but not a difference maker so it's a moot point if he plays or not. Oh and to answer your question I was responding to what somebody else had said. Plus it's a message board if you don't like what I said don't read it or don't respond.

If PG only throws the ball 5 or 6 times a game they better make those 5 or 6 count and a few of those better be td passes.

It's week to week at this point. Last year doesn't matter. Last week doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is this week. This year, Celina has to face us. Are we better than last year? Yup, exponentially better. How much better is Celina?
I don't know how you gameplan against us, looking at our film must be maddening.
"OK guys, we will load the box, so they can't run but they might pass on the first play or maybe they won't and they will try to run first, but they might pass. Watch out for when 2 is on the field or 22 or 25 or 21or any guy with a 2 on their jersey and don't forget about 15."
"Watch out for what coach, run?"
"Run, pass, toss all of it! They can do anything at any time, here is a copy of their roster, memorize the numbers and key on those guys, I dunno...just do your best guys...go get em."
Bro y'all are good, but your way over the top. Y'all don't pass the ball enough to go much further. Celina is gonna make y'all beat them passing the ball. I'm sure y'all can pass some but not enough. I've watched 3 different films of y'all and y'all don't pass hardly at all. If y'all passed more i would say y'all win, but your qb is not effective enough to pass much.
-
I assure you unless #6 is hurt he is playing. No way Gilmer holds him out of this game for discipline reasons. They have to have all hands on deck for this game. If anything they may run, or roll him this week, but other than that he will be playing. He should be suspended but it won't happen.

Celina seems vulnerable this year...gotta take Pleasant Grove in this one!
They are vulnerable in the secondary. They do a good job stopping the run, but secondary is an issue for them. I still don't think PG is gonna be able to run all over Celina like some think. I also don't think PG is gonna be effective enough passing.

7-7. 155 yds. 2 tds. What else you want to know?
Passing stats on the year

Does anyone know the passing stats for PG's qb? If PG throws less than about 12 to 15 times a game Celina is gonna win this. If you want to beat Celina you have to pass the ball.

That’s why I deleted the FNR app from my phone and only use this site now. Pulling for Melissa also but I’m also a realist and don’t get drunk on my own teams kool aid, Melissa will definitely have to bring their best game yet and come out with the fire and passion that they had for Celina because Gilmer is a heck of a team and program. I’m just hoping the Cards can keep it a contest down to the end and at least provide themselves the chances for the upset.
Got to speak to a few of them today and they are very excited and ready to go.

Geez the Friday night fox app has gotten out of hand with ridiculous comments. Bottom line is both teams are really good and both teams will have to play a great game. I'm of course wanting Melissa to win, but this game is a 14 point game either way.

There is a video on social media of #6 for Gilmer violently punching the Caddo Mills player.

gilmer by a TD.
I'm not mad at all what are you talking about? I just know how the east side of the state thinks and that's that y'all are invincible in football.

The Gilmer kid should probably be suspended this week in reality if not by the coach then the uil. Pushing and shoving happens in football, but an all out punch to the head/helmet is something different. Kids lucky he didn't break his hand which would have been a great lesson for acting like a complete jack _ _ _!
