PG can't come back from two scores down. Can they?

And Greg Tepper picked Winnsboro.

Doesn't matter. Garbage is still garbage and that's what NFHS delivers in far too many of their broadcasts.

Trying to watch the early game and the buffering is terrible...hope the rest of the games are better!!!
Some will, some won't. NFHS is the worst product imaginable.

I highly recommend watching the PNG broadcast over that farce of a garbage can broadcast that NFHS puts out that buffers every 20 seconds. The UIL should be ashamed for letting NFHS charge to "broadcast" high school games, but neither the UIL or NFHS have enough integrity to care.

Opinions don’t carry equal weight is telling me that your opinion is more valuable than mine. I don’t value unless I agree what you . Now - where have I heard that before…….,.. oh yea now I remember— the word salad lady in Washington.
Take it however you like. I wasn't saying my opinion is more valuable than your opinion or anyone else. It could be your/my opinion today versus your/my opinion two weeks from now once we've educated ourselves on any topic. Those opinions originally formed when we've seen only the surface do not carry the same weight and/or value as those we have once we've informed ourselves.
Nice try throwing in the political jab. That's when you know you've lost your way with something worthwhile to say.

No rant! Just my opinion. Just like your opinion of what I wrote. Both carry equal weight. You must not of been raised in the country. That is a reply most country boys use when something is different than what they think. Sometimes we might add “red eye gravy” in place of grief. Like good red eye gravy. I guess I could have said “ oh gee golly what a bad man that coach is he is such a brute” and it would have been different. Just accept it and move on. I still stand behind my opinion and sometimes I am interpreted wrong and I am ok with.
Opinions don't carry equal weight. An educated opinion carries a lot more weight than an off-the-cuff rant, at least in the minds of those that have taken the time to look into what's going on below the surface. Does a town of 500 count as country? Some of the old timers would say of Freer's 95-0 loss, "they looked like they'd been pulled through a knothole backwards."

Good grief!
You say "Good grief!" Dude, it is you that ranted in your original post with...
"and of course the mighty Refugio score of 95-0. When does the UIL take control of this fad. I am not a believer in “nothing I could do” syndrome that so many coaches throw out . You score 30-40 points in first quarter or 50-60 in first half you know you have the game under control.Teach sportsmanship but score like that on a weaker opponent is not he same. You are helping keep a weak program down instead of a principle I thought most coaches used to abide by- rule of fair play and fair treatment. To an outsider it kind of gives high school football a bad image."
Why would you mock a program like Refugio or others without knowing facts. I simply pointed out that Refugio was up 69-0 at half and had a running clock in the second half. Backups playing entire second half. Starting RB touched the ball only three times the entire game and had 3 TDs. What more can the HC do??? And you reply with "good grief" as though those weren't valid reasons showing that a winning team did their part. Just accept that there are going to be games like this every year where there are teams on opposite ends of the spectrum and you could have a coach you hold in highest regard that wouldn't be able to keep the score down without taking his team off the field. Good life lessons can still be learned by both sides.

I know I am in the minority on this but I have been on both ends of the spectrum. From Texas high school football scores website—- 85-0,84-0,86-6,77-0,66-0,69-0,68-0,67-0,67-0,80-13,65-0,70-0,71-0,74-12,72-0, and of course the might Refugio score of 95-0. To an outsider it kind of gives high school football a bad image. And by the way my team won last night so I am not crying sour grapes, just about treating other programs like you SHOULD want to be treated. Just remember high school kids are watching their coaches and their actions. Just a Saturday morning thought and I know you could take this and a quarter and go buy a piece of bubble gum.
Do some homework and know what has actually transpired at these games before thinking anyone was unsportsmanlike and/or lumping them all together. I know that Refugio was up 69-0 at half and had a running clock in the second half. Backups playing entire second half. Starting RB touched the ball only three times the entire game and had 3 TDs. What more can the HC do? Actually, I think the running clock started in second quarter. When you're playing a program like Freer, there are nights that are going to be like this. They have a history of being blown out and slighting the other team of a decent game. You have to play what's put in front of you. Perhaps Freer truly did the best they could, but they share as much responsibility as the other team in the final score.

I’m just going to speak on what I am seeing at Cameron Yoe.
This season’s participation is at an all time low. 68 kids out. Down from just a few years ago of 100 plus kids. The Yoemen have just 4 juniors participating! For the first time, starting a couple seasons ago the Yoemen have not fielded a freshmen team. Freshmen and sophomores are playing the JV schedule.
Remember this Yoemen program played in 4 consecutive state championship games less then 10 years ago and have has some other deep runs not too long ago.
My opinion one of the reasons why participation is down goes back to the moms. Yes the moms.
Now a days it seems the moms have the final word in what happens at school with their kids.
If a coach happens to upset or try’s to discipline her baby boy. Damn if that’s happening. Pack your belongings son. You’re not playing for that coach as long as he’s coaching the team.
Then there’s other reasons….
My boy isn’t going to play football because football is too violent he’ll get hurt….My son is going to concentrate on just baseball…or any other non contact sport. Some cases there is just not a father figure in the household.
Then there is that dad who wants their son playing but it goes back to if mama isn’t happy….You men know.
Moms? The only, or primary, reason this is an issue is because Dads have abdicated their responsibility to be the head of their families and/or are completely missing from the family. If the Dad is involved and fulfilling his God-given leadership role, rarely are you going to see this kind of "Mom" issue.

As far as the physiques and the stamina, I can tell you unequivocally that I am 99% positive that is majorly due to diet. I have talked to a few coaches and fans in poorer communities, and they have made it clear to me that even families on welfare can't afford a steady diet of healthy food, because healthy food is more expensive.
They could get significant healthy food for absolute minimum cost and a little elbow grease if it was a priority for them. It's called gardening.

This was beat to death on another site and perhaps here too, but I don't have time to read through previous posts. How can a program that is self-proclaimed "Legendary" and "The Mecca" let the game be close enough that they would even have to whine about the Refs? Not to mention the "Death Row" defense. SMH. It would be better to show humility and full respect for opponents.
I have no connection to either team, but by the end of that game I was so tired of seeing the ridiculous "Legendary" shirts. If you're going to proclaim it, you need to be able to back it up. Lots of teams have won back-to-back like SOC, so no, they are not "Legendary." I'll leave that title to Aledo and Carthage and I don't recall seeing them putting these labels on their shirts and hats.
2 hours ago, MattStepp said:IMO SOC is already legendary, to be an inner city school, to make 3 straight title games and win 2 of them absolutely legendary.
There's a reason what they've accomplished has never been done before in the inner city, because there's incredible hurdles and especially at SOC considering the condition the school was in before the community forced Dallas ISD's hand to get the school rebuilt...
SOC moves differently and some dont agree with it, they are a little boisterous and that definitely makes some feel a type of way....but the results speak for themselves and with what they've got coming in the pipeline I won't be surprised if they win a couple of more titles in the next few years.
Never done before in the inner-city? Highland Park. Same city. Eight appearances. Won five, with 3 in a row. Perhaps I'm missing something. I don't know the Dallas area very well.

Bellville RBs go have a great game and add to the stats!
DD Murray 1991 yds 11.1 yds/carry 37 TDs.
Corrian Hood 1556 yds 9.1/carry 24 TDs
Sam Hranicky 1848 yds 9.5 yds/carry 23 TDs
Those total yards and yds/carry dropped off significantly in their last two games as they came up against better competition. Yards/carry dropped from 9.2 to 6.4, still very good, but going to be tougher still against Gilmer and the passing game isn't there if needed.
Scoring / TDs also dropped significantly.
Both are to be expected. I just don't see Bellville matching up but I'm always wanting to see a slot-t team do good.

Going with Gordon.
-
Going with Benjamin.

Anyone remember that time Gilmer was going to donkey stomp the slot-t from Liberty Hill in the championship game? There was so much arrogance from Gilmer the week leading up to the game.
Having reminisced on that for a moment... I've never seen Bellville. Got to go with Gilmer in this one.

Keep game schedule the way it is. It has been working pretty good for a number of years and is likely the best option. Also, people are used to it and can plan well ahead to make it work for them. I'd hate for them to start tinkering with it and potentially make it worse.

yeah cuz people in El Paso and Corpus Christi and wherever should just go watch in person instead of on TV.
It's just the way it is in a state the size of Texas. There's no way to make it 100% even for everyone. Life is all about choices. You choose where to live and can choose whether to travel to see in person or watch on TV. It's the same for everyone in that regard.

Come on man, you know that vast majority across all sources are saying this is Timpson's game. But, that is why they play the game. I never write a team off.... unless it's a particular central Texas 2AD1 team...

A lot of people? I've seen very few and only 12 out of 80 on the poll.

Thanks. It has, in so many ways.
Next time just learn the spelling simple words and that won’t happen.
Next time hire a decent ball coach and maybe your team will finally live up to its billing. Gotta stop shortchanging them on the pay and you'll get there.
