Bears' defense? Hmmm.
-
Well that hasn't aged well so far.
-
Won't be an East Texan on the field that can match the speed of Shiner's #2.
-
I'm not expecting Timpson will be different than the other teams coming out of Region 3 in recent years. The opinions are pretty much the same as those given in previous years leading up to this game, just different team, different fans, and different year. I'll be surprised if the outcome isn't the same as recent years too, but if it is, I'll take my hat off to Timpson.

Well said.

I have no idea what you're talking about. I was trying to re-state what I had read on this string, trying to see if I understood what had occurred, not making a statement or putting rhetoric on the string. I was asking for feedback on if I was understanding what had occurred at MV related to Lynx as I followed him some through his high school and college career and had no idea he'd spent time in MV. I'm neither trying to add to or take away from whatever happened, just interested in knowing the facts.

Who are the programs with unfair advantages?

During the year(s) these games were played, I think the teams represented below were playing in what is now identified as 2AD1, even though some of them are now 3A. Someone from Region 3 has to break the "curse." Will it be Timpson. Closest semi-final game over the past 10 years was last year's 29-21 loss by SA. I was there and even that one wasn't as close as the final score indicates. 2019; Refugio vs SA; 29-21 2018; Mason vs SA; 52-8 2017; Refugio vs SA; 63-21 2016; Refugio vs Centerville; 38-14 2015; Refugio vs Lovelady; 46-28 2014; Mason vs Centerville; 27-7 2013; Refugio vs Waskom; 69-33 2012; East Bernard vs Elysian Fields; 52-8 2011; Refugio vs Lexington; 63-33

I hope you're right. That would be great. I grew up in East Texas and it still feels like home to me, so I would like to see Timpson pull an upset. A close game is almost always more fun to watch and it's great for the kids. Wish they'd have played in College Station / Bryan instead of New Caney. Makes it harder to get there for a Thursday night game for those living in central Texas. I'd like to see this one in person.

I'm basing my opinion on very limited information, but if I were a betting man, I'd put up a month's wages that Shiner handles Timpson fairly easy. This is based on 1) watching the Timpson v Leon game on Texan Live. 2) Watching Shiner in person yesterday and last year vs Refugio and also last week vs Mason. 3) Recent years of Region IV handling Region III with relative ease. Timpson looked good, but Shiner is so loaded it's ridiculous. They only lost their RB from last year #33, but they still have a loaded backfield. They are solid across the board.

Tonight Carthage and Gilmers season ends!

Only a hardcore doo-fuss would initiate a thread with this title. -
So Lynx is not working for MV now, but a previous post said he was "hired." Was he ever actually on payroll for MV? The whole thing seems kinda weird for someone like myself just learning of it now and trying to catch up on it. What I'm getting is: 1) purportedly came to MV to do a documentary for Netflix. 2) At some point was "hired," I guess to work for Briles and MV? 3) No longer works at MV and Netflix documentary never happened. 4) Two HS aged relatives moved to MV and lived with Lynx and played football some for MV last year, creating some brew-ha that resulted in them not getting to play the entire year, but the younger is playing for MV now. 5) Lynx status currently unknown (by me).
-
So is Lynx working with MV team now?
-
What's the name of the Netflix documentary. I might want to check it out. I knew about the kids moving into MV last year and heard some discussion of it on the radio back then, but I didn't know the connection to Lynx and the rest.
-
Excuse my ignorance on this, what does this mean, Lynx being "the real MVP of the purple tigers."
-
Not sure Tenaha will live up to that prediction.

Shiner was just the better team this year, but by a lot less than many thought. Refugio represented themselves well, containing Shiner's #2 that ran wild on Mason last week. Certainly tough for Refugio to mount a serious comeback once their #1 (Kelly) went out with the concussion. I was fortunate to be on the sideline and a few things that stood out to me that are hard to know how they impacted the game: 1) Refugio had the ball deep in their own territory with only about 2 minutes left on clock in first half. They threw 3 straight passes, taking almost zero time off the clock. Shiner got it back and scored right at the end of the first half making it 14-7. If Refugio had run some time with running plays, Shiner may not have had time to score and it would have been 7-7 at half. 2) Starting second half, Refugio went for it their first 2 possessions on 4th down and didn't make it. They were near the 45-50 both times. If they would have punted and put Shiner deeper, it could have had some impact. We'll never know. 3) Seemed like the Kelly kid didn't get enough touches in the first half. He's their go-to guy, but I can only recall him touching the ball 4-5 times. One of those he took some 80 yards for a TD. I'll be surprised if Shiner doesn't take the championship and I'll be pulling for them. I do think that Post may have a legitimate shot though as they were solid last year and I hear they brought back almost everything.

Ref gets assaulted after ejecting player.
Everide2016 replied to BlahBlah's topic in High School Sports
I haven't put too much thought into it yet, but I think I like the idea of simply stopping the game and awarding the win to the other team if you have a player or coach on your team swing at, punch, or do any other threaten any kind of physical harm to an official. It wouldn't happen too often, but the action is so egregious, I think it merits an instant and automatic forfeit. Also, the team of refs on that game shouldn't be expected to continue with a game after this kind of action. -
Whatever.

Ref gets assaulted after ejecting player.

This is one time I make no apology for talking about the "kid." He's a grown man and should suffer the same consequences as a man. This is a thug pure and simple. Thug mentality. Make the penalty as harsh as it can be. That ref is old enough to be a grandfather. Absolutely zero tolerance and no excuse could make this even semi-understandable. -

Assault pure and simple. Charge, convict and never let him participate in a UIL activity again. There are some things that there should be zero tolerance for and this is an easy one to classify as such. -
Not what was being said. They said Gunter would be going against Llano. I said, "Nope. Canadian."
-
That was a ridiculous run by Gunter QB.

Nope. Canadian.
