Holland won't contend with East Texas' best. Don't be too concerned with them. If Garrison plays a solid game they likely beat Holland. If Garrison doesn't take out Holland, I'd wager the house on Timpson doing it next week.
-
Well, that didn't age well.
-
I've never been impressed with Poth.
-
Hopefully they'll get that chance in the next few weeks. I think they will from Normangee, Hearne, or maybe Holland, but that may still be a level below what they'll see when they get to Shiner/Refugio. Mason won't be there this year.

Things that make you go hmmm....
-
Rogers is D2, not D1, right?
-
Timpson's record and scores looks impressive, but that's all I have to go on. Do they have the potential to legitimately contend with a Shiner/Refugio team or are we still looking at what we've been seeing for a number of years now?
-
Another easy one for Carthage.
-
Speaking of San Augustine, what the heck happened to them this year? Trying to keep up with them from Central Texas, I kind of had the impression they were a perennial contender in East Texas, one of the teams that almost never has a down year. Their record and scores makes it look like they imploded.

Don't let Holland's record from last year deceive you. I live in central Texas and followed Holland relatively close last year. Having seen a lot of 2A ball, my take on them was that they were just a slightly better than average team. Their fans thought they were championship caliber. I saw them in their 4th game against Crawford and spent the rest of the regular season trying to tell them that there was a significant separation in their team's ability and the abilities of a Refugio/Shiner. I wasn't trying to run them down, just giving an honest and informed opinion. They beat Mason in the 3rd round and this had them thinking they were really headed for the championship, even though anyone that follows 2A ball knew that Mason was very down last year. Sure enough, Refugio beat the Holy #### out of Holland in the 4th round, removing any doubt that Holland was on the exact level I had thought. For 2020, they are down a bit from 2019. I'm too far removed from Garrison to really know much about them, but it looks to me like they've played much better competition than Holland in the regular season. I'd give Garrison an okay chance if they can minimize mistakes and penalties.

La Vega Pirates(3-0) @ Argyle Eagles(3-0) Week 4
Everide2016 replied to regaleagle's topic in High School Sports
Argyle has won the regular season game in 2018 and 2019, then lost to La Vega in the playoffs both years. Also lost to La Vega in playoffs in 2015. I'm going with Argyle not based on the above, but just looks like Argyle's wins are a little better than La Vega's. -

My guess is that the "Christian voting base" is going with their usual #1 concern, abortion? My guess is they're more concerned with this than whether there is an "R" or a "D" next to the person they vote for. They may be of the mind that 40,000,000+ and counting is too much and so they'll support the candidate that's willing to say they are against this versus a candidate that is alright with it right up to the point of birth and sometimes even after? What do you think? Perhaps the "Christian voting base" cares more about this than "maturely handling negotiating and being real when handling things with other nations? What do you think?

La Vega #1 vs Port Lavaca Calhoun #6

I'm not seeing them as a "major player" since '08. They had a very nice run from '08 - '13, but since that time, they dropped off significantly and haven't yet re-established themselves as a major player. Yes, they were very good in '18, and '19 was also good, but they were out in week 2 of playoffs, so hard to say they're back to being established as a major player in the region after 7 years of not really being there. 2019 - 9-3; 1 playoff win against very weak Sharyland, a 5-5 team with wins against teams with combined 17-35 record; 1-9 Cigarroa, 4-7 Valley View; 2-8 Roma; 6-5 Pace; 4-6 La Joya 2018 - 10-4; 3 playoff wins, very good year 2017 - 4-5 2016 - 3-7 2015 - 7-4; lost to a solid Ridge Point team in first round of playoffs 2014 - 6-6; beat an average Ft Bend team in 1st round 2013 - 13-2; won region; lost in semi-final to Brenham -

Will there be any restrictions on tickets? Tickets sold at the game? Game is in Bastrop, is that right? -

Where is this game being played? PLC backers might want to do some homework on LV. PLC has had what, two good years, but haven't managed yet to get out of that south region. Prior to that they've had many years of mediocrity. That's not a slam, just what their record shows. They may be coming up and prove to be on La Vega's level eventually, but I'm not seeing them as there yet. LV on the other hand has five years of being at the highest level and playing all comers like Argyle in pre-district, along two or state championships. 2019 Lost championship to Carthage; 2018 won Championship over Liberty Hill; lost semi-final to Carthage; 2016 undefeated state champs. I'm taking LV over PLC pretty easy. -

Not a big deal. Kids will get sick with whatever it is, it's all a part of life. Press on and let's return to normal life where folks aren't afraid of their own shadow. Stop stoking the fear and get busy living life.

If you do that, you agreed to do so. If you don’t agree to do so, find another job. It’s really very simple. Don’t be such a whiner. Good grief, no wonder our schools are such a hot mess with people like this thinking they’re being wronged but too afraid to look elsewhere. Or is it that they just don’t bring enough to the table to find something else.
-
If a person accepts the job, then don’t complain. It’s what was agreed on. If I felt I was being wronged by my employer, I’d take my talents elsewhere instead of whining about it on a forum like this.
-
Now that's more like it.

Any top performer does extra things and put in extra hours, things and hours that are outside their normal job description and normal job hours. I've found throughout my career that those that quibble over having to go beyond the call-of-duty usually don't rise to the top or in general aren't as successful as those that just take care of business because it's what is needed. Those at the top have realized throughout their career, even when they were near the bottom, that doing more than what's in their job description and sometimes having to do this outside their usual hours is just part of the overall job and they simply do it because it's what is needed. Having the expectation to get paid for all the things one does and any extra time is a minimum wage mindset which much of our society has. Those that want to get paid for every minute worked should stick with the jobs that require punching a clock. Then there's also those that just get a case of feeling slighted and like to grumble. Just my humble opinion.

Do you work for CNN, because you either have an issue with reading comprehension or you just assign whatever meaning you choose to what you read and then put it back out as though it was what was originally said. I didn't say per your post, 'teachers working form home doing virtual teaching is not working.' I said "people should work in order to be paid including teachers." If they are doing their job, from wherever it is, pay them. If they are not doing the job, don't pay them. Pretty simple and also fair. Also, I didn't say I "don't know who Dan Patrick is." I just don't care for him so I don't watch the duffus. If you like him, good for you.

Refugio may be looking for a week 1 opponent. Gunter v Refugio could be a good one.
