  1. That was more than a "loss" in the semi-finals, it was a beat down by Refugio. Good thing SA came from a weak region or there wouldn't have been a semi-finals for them. They could have beat Ben Bolt, but would have been beat in any other round by the teams that Refugio beat to that point. Saw them all and was severely disappointed in what San Augustine put on the field after all I'd heard about them.
  2. What? Can you say ridiculousness? Seen enough of these prognostications from JJ to give it zero credence.
  3. Yep, AP doesn't have a clue. Dropping Refugio to #6 after losing to 3A Goliad and likely the best team Goliad has ever had. Just one more example and reason not to put much stock in the AP.
  4. They are who we thought they were, same old Texas laying an egg and getting off to one crapola of a start. Crying shame to be this average for this long.
  5. Against the mighty Shiloh Christian Saints...that's really something to write home about. Can't gauge anything using that game.
  6. Good luck to T-high, but Hendrickson will roll in this one.
  7. Speaking of tough, how 'bout them Refugio Bobcats. I know San Augustine learned a little about tough from them last year.
  8. Hope San Augustine has something more than they did last year or they will be running into that same old buzz-saw that took 'em out last year in a serious shelacking... Refugio Bobcats.
  9. Mart was an exceptionally good team. All credit to them for a well deserved championship. Now, on to "1WildCat"... Yet another Waskom athletic supporter that still can't let go of the embarrassing semi-final loss from years ago. The true waste is to hold on to this for all these years to the point you have to continually take cheap shots at a man that has had a tremendous positive impact on the kids in his community and the community as a whole and very likely more so than you ever will on your community. Anyone that ever took the time to truly look in to this matter knows it had a purpose behind it and that purpose was fulfilled in Refugio's state championship in 2011. I'm not from Refugio, actually live 3 1/2 hours from there, but when all that chatter about Herring started years ago, I actually took the time to research it and looked in to it for myself instead of jumping on the bandwagon. To me it appeared he took intentional steps with a purpose in mind and that those steps resulted in his team's success. Unfortunately for you, your team was on the receiving end of a Refugio administered butt whipping after a lot of Waskom fans talked trash for the week leading up to the game. Waskom fans talked like they had the greatest team anyone had ever seen, then they got their booties handed to them in what was one of the most lopsided semi-final games I've ever witnessed in person. Get over it WildCat and stop smearing a man and a community. That's what truly falls under the classless category.
  10. You're wasting your time giving facts to some of the knuckleheads on this forum. Prime example is "bystander76." They only care that they had more points scored on their team in a semi-final game than they think should be allowed. Once that magical barrier has been crossed (doesn't matter that it only exists in their minds), all facts go out the window. They've had their feelings hurt and this is all that matters to them. They start name calling the players, coaches, and fans of the other team and try to attribute the traits that really belong to themselves to others, things like "classless." What they really should be doing it they were going to be intellectually honest is say a simple congratulations, the other team was better than we/I thought and our team was simply overrated and outmatched. That'll never happen with some of the East Texas fans who rarely crawl out of their hole to see the level of football being played elsewhere. That's why they're so shocked when their team embarrasses themselves and to add injury to insult, the fans have also talked smack all week leading up to the embarrassment.
  11. Wrong, there are quite a number of districts within our state that could create so called mega schools. I live in one, Leander ISD. The district area is small enough that there could be one high school, instead there are five, 2 are 6A and 3 are 5A. There are plenty of other examples just like this. Round Rock, Georgetown, Pflugerville, and that is just within 20 miles of my home.
  12. Anyone can say there is cell phone video. Let's see it. It can't and won't be shown because it doesn't exist of anyone saying what is being alleged. I was there and I was on the sideline just as I have said. Any video would show the coach throwing his hat to the ground and chewing on the refs in disbelief that they didn't just see one of his players get punched by one of the classless San Augustine players that have obviously been taught by someone (coach, parents, bystander76?) that this is okay. You discover your not as good as you thought = okay to throw punches at the other team. Hats off to the San Augustine player and fans that didn't participate in this classless activity and/or the attempt to cover it up by pointing the fingers at the victims. What a mind job.
  13. No limit and there shouldn't be. Thank God there is still something that hasn't been dictated from on high. Plenty of other large school districts could do the same if they chose to do so. Everyone has a choice and I like it that way.
  14. bystander, you are filled with so much hate. Your last name isn't Murr, is it? You know they have meds and people you can talk to about that. What specific actions are inexcusable?
  15. bystander, don't you ever get tired of whining? Your team wasn't as good as you thought they were and you just can't let it go. Wouldn't it be easier to just acknowledge the incredible education Refugio provided to your players, and free I might add, in how to truly play at a championship level, be a humble and gracious loser, and move on?
  16. Repeating a lie over and over doesn't make it the truth except in your own mind. Refugio coach did not yell this, I was there within earshot. He was totally on the ref's case and that is all. You sir are a simple liar or just repeating what someone else has told you without verifying. It's called "fake news." You could likely get a job with CNN straight away.
  17. So many people just repeating what they've heard others say. They were playing backups. If your starters #### so much that my backups are still scoring on you, tough poop. Get over this. It gets brought up anytime these East Texas teams can't cut it in the playoffs. Dude, you are in the freakin' state semi-final and still have people on here bringing this up 6-7 years later and whining about Refugio punching SA in the gut when some were on here hyping them as better than the 2015 Canadian team. I guess that makes Refugio better than Carthage? No, it just means SA wasn't as good as the hype and some of their fans want to keep on looking for things to take the focus off how overrated they truly were. Amen to that.
  18. bystander, I understand being loyal to your team, but you are in the homer category. Any neutral party that watched that game would come away wondering how SA managed to make it to a semi-final game, that is how far away from "close" it was. From my perspective, it was close for about the first quarter. It was clear from that point on that Refugio was in complete control. SA's only threat was the big play and it was clear they were not going to be able to make enough of those to contend. SA's mistakes were not the primary reason that lost the game. They were dominated by a far superior team. SA very likely had 2-4 players that were as good or better than any individual on Refugio's team, but aside from 3 big plays, they were unable to execute as a team. I give Refugio's players and coaches credit for that, Refugio knowing how to execute as a team. The one thing we agree on is who was the better team.
  19. Total Yards: Refugio 591, SA 209 (previous avg 414) Leading Rushers Refugio's Ramirez 235, Mascarro 114, Avery 90
