  1. Giggle, giggle. If that was hell....not so bad after all, I rather enjoyed it.
  2. Why can't you just give credit to Refugio for donkey stomping SA. SA had three long plays and that was it. Complete domination by Refugio. And I'm sure you know the personal foul on Refugio coach came as he was sticking up for one of his players that had just been punched by one of your, nothing but total class, SA players. Punch was directly in front of the referee and for them not to see and call it was incredible. Any coach would do the same or they're not doing their job. For you having stated earlier words to the effect of "hell is coming with us," you've sure done a lot of whining here in the end. Just like it was with your neighbors Waskom when Refugio donkey stomped them. Players were getting chippy on both sides down toward the end, but it was only SA that took it to the level of throwing a punch. SA had several very talented individual players and great speed and that's obviously enough in Region 3, but as a team they were below average compared to others Refugio played this year. They would be rated about sixth best below Navarro, Mason, Goliad, Edna, and Shiner.
  3. The problem is, you don't appear to know anything more about character than you do about Arp football. How many championships were they supposed to have won by now according to JJ?
  4. I think you might as well save your breath. Apparently it takes too long for news to make its way into those deep piney woods. "Those convinced against their will are of the same opinion still." They're not going to take the time to check out the facts. Seems there is just too much "fake news" going on over there regarding Refugio and Herring. They are still living in the past and probably been influenced a lot by the beat down Refugio put on their Waskom neighbors. While the score wasn't 90-0 on the scoreboard, everyone knew it was an absolute schooling in how to play football, and the education was given to a bunch of fans who thought they had a great team.
  5. There you go with a classic example of being blinded by the past. So much hate in East Texas coming out on this string. Guess it has changed a lot since I lived in Nacogdoches in the early 2000s. I remember folks being kind-hearted and forgiving. Guess 8 years of Obama can do a lot to change even the lovely people of East Texas. I wasn't planning to make it to this game, but now I've decided to close up shop early today and head to Houston. Think I'll sit on the San Augustine side so I can do some checking out to see if this is as bad as it seems to be.
  6. Interesting that so many east Texans are holding on to the hate for Refugio's Coach. Any of you ever transformed yourself or changed over the course of your life? The man did what he thought was best for his team in the course of trying to find the mix that would take his team to a championship and like it or not, it worked. Also, if you've been following Refugio for the past several years (as I have from quite a distance I might add), the dude has changed considerably. He is still passionate and you'll see him wailing on the refs, but he may not be the same person you've been holding on to the hate for so many years. Get over it. Life's too short to hold on to dislike for so long. Also, he is quickly moving up the list of winningest Texas High School coaches and if he chooses to coach to a normal retirement age, he'll almost certainly overtake Calallen's coach as the all time most successful coach.
  7. Yeah, with all the SA backers talking and being ever so concerned about "class" that's a greatly revealing post showing who is truly lacking in class.
  8. That is about the funniest thing I've ever seen posted on Smoaky. Canadian was absolutely the best I've seen at this level.
  9. Still pouting over that embarrassment at NRG after all the smack talk Waskom did the week leading up to that game. If you don't like being scored on, stop the other team.
  10. If you haven't watched Mason play this year you might be surprised. I saw three of their games and they have a well balanced offense with very close to a 50/50 mix of pass/run... at least in the three games I saw. And they have a QB that was a serious player. I would be surprised if the Mason offense didn't match up quite well with SA's.
  11. Don't overestimate the importance of the interceptions and knock downs against Centerville. Their quarterback is average at best. Thrall did the same thing to him and so did several other teams. The QB from Refugio is 6'3", about 220, and will likely play D1 baseball if he doesn't go with football.
  12. Saw C'ville against Thrall and was thoroughly unimpressed. That was 8-9 weeks ago, only the 5th game of the season, so a lot could have changed, but I just cannot see them overcoming SA. If 99 is out, C'ville is out of the playoffs. 42 is a hoss, but don't believe he can carry them on his own and C'ville QB doesn't have a good enough arm to do much through the air.
  13. Tough to figure out why Arp would hold these "things" back during the WR, EF, Waskom games and now suddenly surprise folks against Newton. Arp is who the rest of us knowledgeable football fans know them to be, a decent team, but not a contender. Newton handles them with ease.
  14. Pontificate all you want, you're not helping the problem. All you whiners on here should shut your yappers unless you are willing to put your money where your mouth is. If it's bad enough to complain about it, become a ref and show us how it's supposed to be done. I've sat next to some incredibly obnoxious fans over the years, this year seems as bad as ever, and they are carrying on regarding the officiating all game and doing so in a classless manner. The UIL should invoke the same Zero Tolerance Rule that my kid's T-ball league uses, yes T-ball. There are no warnings given. If you behave in a way that is unsportsmanlike, including bad mouthing or harassing refs, you are escorted away from the facility and you cannot return for the remainder of the season. This applies to all persons present (fans, coaches, players, refs).
  15. "Couldn't play with this Mart team" is a big jump to make when you're 300 miles away. I know you said from 2 years ago, but even that's a stretch. I watched that championship game with Refugio vs Canadian. Canadian was the best I've seen in 2A and Refugio "played with them for the first half." I'm thinking they could "play" with the Mart team too. This year's Refugio team played 4AD2 undefeated #8 Geronimo Navarro within 4 points, 21-17. What real quality opponent has Mart beat? None that I see on their schedule. They have beat some average teams and lost one to a very good 3A team, Lexington.
  16. Likely far too much of a trip, but why not get a game with Refugio? I don't think 4A Geronimo Navarro is going to re-up with them for 2018. I know Refugio is willing to travel for a good game. They went to Lago Vista, northwest of Austin, several years back.
  17. Did I see a post from JJ saying, "oh those excuses" to another post. That's like Bill Clinton trying to call out Harvey Weinstein. I can't think of a time Arp has lived up to the overblown hype from JJ; talking about for a season as a whole.
  18. Doesn't matter, Arp isn't relevant this year.
  19. Arp will still win the championship. I heard it from one of their top fans.
  20. Most are wanting to see/discuss some high caliber football, that's why no 3AD2 coverage.
