  1. Gonna be hard to do that as Mart won't be there.
  2. I'd agree WOS should beat Sweetwater, but as the old saying goes, "that's why they play the game." Teams that have "no chance" have won in the past when either they didn't know they didn't have a chance, or the team that had no chance of losing forgot they couldn't lose and did just that.
  3. We'll see. "Loaded" is a relative term. Region 3 could be "loaded" compared to this year and based on what I saw against Refugio, they would still need to step it up a few notches to be able to compete at the semi-final level.
  4. lol! Yeah, they just might (he said with tongue firmly planted in cheek). And I was actually pulling for them this year. I'm not going to get sucked into that again.
  5. Was at the game. Prior to arriving at the game, my guess was that Centerville was going to be another one of those teams that thought they were SC material, just to get beat down by Refugio and finally realize they just came out of a weak region and that was the only reason they made it to a semi-final game (my default example being Waskom three years ago in the semi-final against Refugio). Once at the game and watching C'ville in pregame warmups, I was impressed with their size and athleticism. They looked to me like a team that should have the ability to truly test Refugio. Their appearance was significantly more impressive than Shiner or Mason, having seen Refugio play both of those teams too. C'ville took opening kickoff and that first possession, they were impressive. The tailback looked like he was on a mission and ready to rock Refugio's world. He had several really good runs on the first possession and they moved the ball relatively easy. I think they drove down to about the Refugio 40 and then had a turnover? Or punted? But, still I had it in my mind after that possession that we were in for a game. Well, sadly that was pretty much where it ended. Refugio took control from that point on and it was evident to anyone that has watched much HS football that the end would never be in question. It's a weird thing because I still believe that C'ville did have the athletes to at least make a game of it, but something we just can't see was switched on by Refugio and C'ville was done. The second half was hard to watch as Refugio just got sloppy and undisciplined, getting probably 7-8 motion penalties on the offensive line and other various "stuff" that just made the second half not much fun to watch for a semi-final game. If Refugio doesn't clean it up on the penalties in the SC game, they could be opening the door for Crawford and I have no doubt Crawford will gladly oblige and walk right through it. Hoping for a great SC game between Crawford and Refugio.
  6. Maybe loaded again, but can they win the big one? Seems Arp is hyped every year and then just can't get over the hump.
  7. The only context needed is you pointing out 'WOS had to move down in class before they became a serious contender.' It doesn't matter in the least at what classification a team becomes a contender. They are doing it at the level they currently are assigned, so nothing should be dimenished (which is how your post comes across) about when and/or at what classification they did it. Right?
  8. Think someone has their terminology mixed up. Taking someone to the woodshed doesn't equal class. Don't know anything about WOS so not questioning whether they have class or not, just pointing out that beating down opponents and beating them down with class are two different things.
  9. Real class Mr. Sportswriter. Throwing that out there like it establishes some sort of credentials that should be taken seriously is what is idiotic. I've seen plenty of sportswriters over the years that couldn't predict the result of Lake Travis vs. Austin High.
  10. ???? Trying to figure this one out? Said "Boling" a few posts earlier, then "I'm pulling for Gunter." Are ou predicting Boling, but pulling for Gunter?
  11. Rabb74, that makes zero sense. Every school plays within the class they are assigned based on enrollment. If they win or contend in that class, they are legitimate. Why hate on WOS? Where's your team this week?
  12. Without having to read back through this entire string, who is the favorite? The poll doesn't mean much does it? Likely more folks on here from east than central tx.
  13. Gonna' go with Arp and trust that JJ hasn't overhyped how good they are this year. Been burnt on that one several times in the past and should know better, but going to take another chance. Can't help but keep thinking back to how everyone (myself included) thinks that all teams in a semi-final game have proven how good they are, but then they run into the opponent from the other region, get slaughtered and realize they weren't so good, just in a weak region. (prime example, Waskom v Refugio, need I say more). Hope that's not the case this year and we see all really good games.
  14. Not seeing Centerville being able to take this one. Refugio vs Crawford in SC.
  15. Agree on Centerville needing to be unpredictable. Mix it up and have Refugio not knowing what's coming next. Maybe watch some Boise v Oklahoma and similar film and implement some of those plays at critical times during the game.
  16. Arp can take care of that on their own without any help from Carthage.
  17. Temple beating Manvel. I've watched a lot of HS football over the years and Manvel looked incredible. Kudos to Temple for coming up with a game plan and executing it.
  18. I have no allegiance to any team, just enjoy watching good football, and prefer small town teams over where I live (Cedar Park). But, I do have several teams that I try to make a point to attend their games when possible... Cameron (3 games this year, China Spring, Rockdale, Teague), Refugio (2 games this year, Shiner, Mason), Cedar Park of course when there's not a small school matchup in my area that I want to see.
  19. Yeah, you're wrong. Refugio beat Cameron in 2014 (27-20) and Cameron beat Refugio in 2015 (42-27). I was at both of those games. Home team won in both instances. Remember, Refugio sat their top three players out the first half in 2015 due to discipline issues. Considering Yoe is up one classification, it would seem like that came out pretty even or better for Refugio.
  20. Awesome job Temple! Having seen Manvel last week against Cedar Park, I didn't see anyone taking them down. Super happy for Temple.
  21. The 6pm start time is ridiculous. Coaches got to think about the parents and the fans.
