  1. I don’t know why a recruit would troll any university who has very actively and positively recruited them and shown their desire to have him join their team.
  2. I feel the same way. Ranking Argyle #1 in preseason is one thing and not as big a deal. When you go back and look at football history and rank a team with no championships ahead of a team with two that’s a poor poll. Come to think of it, La Vega ought to be ranked #2. It should probably be: 1. Carthage 2. Waco La Vega 3. Argyle
  3. I truly do agree with you about football not being the only thing in the world to watch. Argyle has been fantastic in multiple sports for years! Again, great athletic program across the board. This particular ranking was only about football so I threw it out there to get a little convo going. Glad we got some banter going back and forth!
  4. Hey, I hear you. Once upon a time, Carthage was really good at baseball and that was fun to do something well other than football. Now I’m going to say something that’s a little tough...ok, here it comes and sorry........ Are you simply disappointed your boys can’t consistently get it done at the highest level on the football field and are required to lean on girls volleyball to boost your school’s Lonestar Cup ranking so you feel better about everything? This is Texas. Football is king in this state and Carthage is the king in 4A.
  5. Sportsfanatic, thank you for the response, the ranking for the dynasty referenced was only about football.
  6. So I was on Twitter this morning and saw a former Carthage Bulldog retweet that some group named Fizz Rankings has ranked the Bulldogs as the second best 4A-D1 program from 2014 - 2018; the most recent five year stretch. Now, before we get started here, I really have nothing but respect for the other program discussed in this post! The only team remaining that’d qualify to be in this discussion that’s not been ranked as of yet is Argyle. So, Argyle will come out as their #1 4A-D1 Dynasty for the past five years. I decided to tell Fizz in my opinion their ranking any 4A program over Carthage as the #1 dynasty anytime from 2008 to today is the wrong decision. Fizz let it be known the reason Carthage is #2 is due to their 2014 season ending at 6-6. Never mind from 2015 through the final game of 2018 Carthage went to two semifinals, won two state championships and had a 40 game winning streak. The team they’ve obviously ranked ahead of the Bulldogs have made one semifinal appearance, and two state championship game appearances winning no titles in that same time period. Here’s the breakdown by season for each team: Argyle ’14 = 15-1; Lost to Navasota at state ’15 = 15-2; Lost to La Vega at state ’16 = 11-1; Lost to Abilene Wylie ’17 = 12-1; Lost to Stephenville ’18 = 13-1; Lost to La Vega in semifinals Overall record of 66-6. Carthage ’14 = 6-6; Lost to El Campo ’15 = 11-4; Lost to La Vega in semifinals ’16 = 13-2; Beat Abilene Wylie to win state ’17 = 16-0; Beat Kennedale to win state ’18 = 15-1; Lost to Liberty Hill in semifinals (40 game win streak broken to end the season) Overall record of 60-13. Argyle has the better record, but zero state championships compared to Carthage’s two rings. If Fizz wants to point to the overall record and the one bad season for ranking Argyle ahead of Carthage there’s a flaw there too. Argyle has regularly played teams like Pinkston, Sanger, Lake Worth, Denison, Wilmer-Hutchins, Lovejoy, Burkburnett and Anna. Carthage routinely plays teams like Pleasant Grove (gave y’all some props), Liberty Eylau, Gilmer, Gladewater, Kilgore, Henderson and Whitehouse. Argyle has a great record and kudos to them for winning as many games as they have. The competition the Eagles have played in non-district, district and throughout the playoffs is nowhere near the caliber of competition Carthage plays all year long. Argyle’s road through the playoffs is always way easier due to the region they play in compared to the Dawgs. But ultimately, to me, what really counts is the titles. Carthage has two and Argyle has none during the timeframe in question. When the chips are down the Carthage Bulldogs are who I’m putting my money on every time!! GO DAWGS!!!!!!!
  7. Aww, it’ll be alright either way. These big schools like UT and A&M will have plenty of boys clamoring to play for them. A&M not quite as many as UT, but still a fair amount.
  8. Arkansas should never ha e gone away from these to begin with. I’m one of those traditional uniforms fans. The Oregon/Baylor uniform combinations are pretty cool, but I want to know without a doubt when I turn on the TV I’m watching Texas versus......
  9. Yep, let’s move on sportswriters. Enough, maybe he was just using UT to get more dollars out of Alabama. Maybe he truly was exploring the option of going to Texas. Either way, he’s still at Alabama and Texas may have a pretty good coaching staff in place now.
  10. I will meet you in the middle and agree with you that motivation can and sometimes does factor into the outcome of a game. I’ll go so far as to (like I have in above posts) agree with you that Georgia seemed a little out of sorts at the beginning of the game. I think when they wanted to turn it on UT was already clicking on all cylinders and the Dawgs couldn’t catch up. You’ve stated Texas played well and said that was an obvious factor in the outcome of the game. I stated you made it out like Georgia shouldn’t have even accepted the bowl invitation they were so disenchanted about playing in the game. I stand by that comment due to some of your posts further up thread. We wanted you to give Texas credit for their performance and you’ve done so, but with some qualifications..or an asterisk. Hey, I guess that’s better than nothin’!
  11. Aggies, you gotta admit, this post is
  12. I’ve contended the Sugar Bowl was not, is not and will never be a meaningless game to Georgia or anyone else no matter the circumstances. It is one of the biggest bowl games played each year. Now, I do concede UGA may not have come out firing on all cylinders, but is that accurate? If it is accurate, we don’t actually know why. We can assume, but I also believe they wanted to get going in the right direction much earlier than late in the 3rd just couldn’t manage it. Texas was locked in that night, ready to play and I was thrilled to see it. Now, here’s the big question for me to you....... Why is it top priority for you to always find some justification for discrediting, diminishing and dismissing anything positive the Longhorns do or accomplish? Most Aggie fans loathe UT more than any level of hate I’ve seen anywhere else in the world, and that includes Democrats/Liberals’ hate for Trump - and that’s saying something. Haha.
  13. I am definitely not insecure about the win and how it played out. It can be all three things. I think Georgia came out not entirely ready to play and then when Texas started hitting them in the mouth they just couldn’t respond. That’s exactly what I think happened. I think UGA tried to wake up in the first half, but Texas had so much pressure on them on both sides of the ball they just couldn’t get into gear. Those are my opinions on that game and thoughts about why it played out the way it did.
  14. I did not say UGA played their best game, but UT genuinely had Fromm off his game and did very well against the Georgia rushing game. Is the refresh and snide remarks comment you made meant for me?
  15. If I were you I wouldn’t want to save this thread..
  16. A team shouldn’t be flat in the Sugar Bowl! They simply got beat. Really, as college football players they shouldn’t ever be unmotivated. Only get a finite # of games every season.
  17. 100% better, way more explosive.
