  1. Ended up being the barnburner I predicted. Neither team has anything to hang their head about.
  2. With the kind of system Marshall runs, we pretty much HAVE to have push up front. The problem is, the o-line was our known weakest link entering this season. It'll be fun watching the progression.
  3. That hurt. Mavs drive all the way inside the 5 and come up inches short before half. Ate up 1/3rd of the 2nd quarter on that drive. Mavs are not near as physical as last season. Lost quite a few studs to graduation. Defense is playing ok. The Dline is struggling but the back 7 are keeping the lions from scoring at will. DB fell asleep on a deep ball, otherwise it's a one score game. JT seems heads and shoulders better than last season. Mavs are young in key areas. I expect Alvarez to shuffle things around and have us clicking towards the end of year again. That's what it's all about.
  4. Can't help but to root for Coach Woods. He seems like someone that will get things done. Just how fast is the question. Even some of the greater coaches can take 2 or 3 years. Having a solid staff in place behind him makes a huge difference.
  5. Resting up for anyone in particular?
  6. I didn't read the first few pages,why didn't Bussey play?
  7. Mavs Freshman won 22-14. It was 22-6 for the majority of the 2nd half.
  8. Good wins for mavs but Ill trade both subvarsity wins for a win tomorrow night. I know JT will be prepared with plenty of ammo at the Varsity level.
  9. Strawman much? You changing the subject on everyone separately, help you stay in denial about the covid scam? I understand. You are just pushing this towards politics. It's far from it.
  10. What's that got to do with the scam-demic? There's nothing political about that. It's a war on everybody.
  11. People need to stand up against the govts BS this time around. Fool me once, shame on you....you know the rest.
  12. I thought Hispanics luv tu play futball..?
  13. Regardless of the outcome, both teams will mainly be looking to improve before district. JT is already better than they were at this time last year. Which is good, considering a new coaching staff playing in their first game. Marshall was in the same scenario last year and performed surprisingly well. Mainly because of the 2 headed monster in the backfield. Both have graduated, as have a slew of others that were key. I don't think we should be near a 19 point favorite, but I think they are going off JTs record from last season combined with having a new coaching staff. I will be happy escaping with just a 1 point win. Terrell is a solid team and probably most similar to us from our neighboring district.
  14. Even the big wr for them this year has moved from school to school before finding a home in Carthage. They would still win the occasional title without all the transfers. With all the transfers they have no business being in small 4a. It's like when Evangel played the small Louisiana schools because of their overall enrollment but had a large percentage of football studs.
  15. Not to mention, I don't think we would have had our 2s in during a real game. After we didn't convert late, we figured Legacy would just run the ball and eat the rest of the clock. That's probably why we chose to put the 2s in during that time. They ended up working on their passing game more, which is what scrimmages are for. Scoring is nice but doesn't tell much of a story during a scrimmage. Unless one of the teams is just scoring at will. Marshall will be ok if they cut out the needless penalties that kill drives.
  16. It didn't officially count, because of scrimmage rules. Which is why Legacy was forced into throwing the deep ball the following play. The 2nd Td pass after the turnover on downs was against the 2nd team D. Theres a reason why final scores are pretty much meaningless in a scrimmage. Im sure play calling was pretty limited and basic both ways as well. Overall was positives and negatives for both teams and will be used to help us each prepare.
  17. I don't think this will be a blowout for either side. Unless penalties and turnovers cause a snowball. Both teams like to run the ball, so should be a fairly quick game. Has the potential for a barnburner. Marshall graduated the big fullback (11) that gave you fits. We do have a Sophomore replacing him that's just as big. I don't think he's found his stride on Varsity yet, but once he gets adjusted he could be special. I don't think JT is going to let us run up and down the field again, so our passing game is going to have to come alive quickly. If not, it looks like Cujo has the capability to put up enough points to make us pay. A win by either team wouldnt surprise me. A blowout would be a bit unexpected.
  18. Marshall scored once on D in the live and once in the controlled. Was only one live quarter. Ran the ball down the field on 2 possessions only to shoot themselves in the foot on both. (Fumble, personal foul penalty). Passing game needs work but has potential. Running game did well overall but definitely some rust. Mavs 1st team D allowed one Td on the night. The deep ball immediately after the unofficial defensive Td. Legacy has some size and talent. Their Qb should have a good season.
  19. Well something has to contain the water. Just like the land mass around a lake, walls around a swimming pool, or glass surrounding your cup of water. Doesn't sound crazy to me. Pour the water on a ball and watch it stick. That sounds normal too. Hmm, tough decision.
  20. Just another of those mainstream fear porn articles. The Sun is just a light, as the Bible mentions. Can't happen, just as random asteroid/meteor strikes can't. The asteroid card will be pushed hard within the next few years. As will ufo's and aliens. Don't believe a word of it.
  21. Isn't the city named after him? So isn't Tyler High still technically named after him? Makes no sense. But the world we live in today makes no sense anymore. Anyways. Just my opinion. Nice hire, good luck.
  22. As an outsider that is used to competing against Cujo: They need to go back to using "JT". Just seemed more intimidating than "Tyler High".
