  1. It seems like you always know what's going on over in this part of the world. You know what direction PP might be headed this time around?
  2. Got ya and you're right on the tradition part! The letter indicated that the coach got a 1 year deal in his first year because of his experience. There is no reason mentioned in the letter why the coach didn't get a 2 year contract after the initial year. In a time where we have a massive shortage and coaches leaving the profession in large numbers I don't understand how we treat people like this. If admin is unhappy with the situation, just be upfront and do it before early May. These decisions and more importantly how you treat people impact so many things from a coaches livelihood, the assistants on that staff, their families and the quality of the experience of the high school athlete. But, even with this that job will get applicants and someone is gonna take this job. Is the Supt a PP guy?
  3. I'm a little confused or missed something here. The letter said the coach was offered a 1 year contract in his initial year so the district could evaluate him as a first year AD. But what about this year, when they reviewed his contract, was he given another 1 year contract?
  4. This is what I'm saying when I say people dismiss what Keeling did in his time in Waskom. The phrase, "Waskom will be Waskom" was never said prior to Keeling. After Keeling's tenure, there are high expectations that Waskom never had. The "lots of speed" you mentioned was not evident in the track program after looking at the district/area results. Waskom has always had kids that could run. Keeling built a championship program with the WHAT he did and HOW he did it, there is more to it than "lots of speed." You also mentioned that you were "glad" to see those two kids leave your program AND it may have actually been a positive and been what was truly best for the program. But we will know the answer to that very soon. When kids start to leave, it is usually the tip of the iceberg and you can expect to lose other kids. I hope this is not the case and Waskom continues to be relevant as Keeling made them instead of the door mat they were before he got there. Good luck to you Waskom Wildcats.
  5. Wild74 I like the optimism. I hope the optimism continues and you are singing this same tune come the end of football season.
  6. Like I was saying. People so quickly dismiss the impact Keeling had on that place and think just because there "athletes to work with" the same results are going to follow.
  7. Difficult, difficult situation losing a kid in the manner you mentioned. There is no way that doesn't have an impact on every aspect of that community.
  8. Agreed with Keeling comment. Here is follow up question regarding your barb at QC. What was Waskom before Keeling? Much playoff success, state championships, or even deep playoff runs?
  9. I agree DT, but at least you have the summer program now where can you work sport specific concepts. The question is, can you get someone hired and around the kids to ensure you get the kids there this summer to get this work.
  10. I think the impact of what Keeling did at Waskom gets lost on people. Some think anyone could do what was done since "Waskom has athletes." I think the new coach has a lot to prove in the upcoming years. Can he come even remotely close to what Keeling did? If he doesn't, it isn't because he doesn't have the players, go back and read how many posts reference the Waskom talent or the Waskom athletes. Losing 2 returning seniors does not sound like a step in that direction, but maybe it was addition by subtraction. I mentioned earlier this district is down, down and I believe it is. If Waskom doesn't secure 3rd with ease, it will be telling.
  11. Why are so many kids leaving all at once? If you cannot mention on site, I understand.
  12. I should see it more from your perspective, as a glass half full point of view. QC, ND were not good last year and I haven't seen EF field a team like they had last year in pretty long time. I think this is a big year in determining the direction of several of these programs specifically EF, Waskom, and ND. All 3 have coaches entering their 2nd year, what happens this year may determine their path moving forward.
  13. The district as a whole is down, down. It's "Wild" that we are talking about Waskom trying to finish 3rd or 4th in a down, down district. With the speed they have in this district they should easily secure 3rd in this district.
  14. Yessir. I wasn't talking about hiring coordinators on your staff. I was more speaking to the movement that will impact other programs when this hire is made. Good luck to y'all.
  15. The timing is tough especially if MW hires a current HC. Then that school is really in a tough spot if they cannot promote a coordinator. Wild times.
  16. What's up with all these facts you're bringing to this discussion. No place for that here!
  17. If true, that move was not made soley by the AD, may have been his idea and what he wanted. But, it would have to be co-signed by upper admin. Hope it works out for all involved.
  18. I thought this was going to be a feel good story and great things were on the horizon for them mustangs.
  19. I'm with you OleBoy, I'm not one to focus solely on coaching record, I think it's a collection of things that determine the type of job you are doing. But when you put it like this!!!!!
  20. Oleboy, with the former coach staying on as AD do you think this will happen? Is this going to be an internal hire or bring in a coach with new direction?
