  1. Actually, if you base the talent level of the skilled players from Gilmer and Texas High and John Tyler, the edge would go to Gilmer. Proof? Rivals.com as well as Scout.com. Also, 7 on 7 competition head to head Gilmer beat John Tyler. I don't think Texas High has the "skilled" players to match JT but overall they do have a superior team. Now the only other determining factor would be depth and the O-Line and D-Line. Gilmer doesn't play their "hogs" both ways which is a rarity in 3A ball and it is what seperates 3A from 4A. So the question about depth is anwswered now it comes down to the talent and size of the line. Gilmer, I believe, averages 6'3 and 260 on their o-line with one blue chip Top 100 national guy for 2008 in Snow (6'4 295). Three D-1 commits currently in the senior class. The junior class has 2 top 100 "NATIONAL" players and another in the TOP 250 in Harris. I guess when you use blind logic without facts you come to the previously stated opinion. Mallet is good but does he play defense?

  3. OR some of us need to locate a copy of Websters and look up the word scrimmage. Tell me, is it more important for you to win a SCRIMMAGE or to evaluate your players. Do you even know how many plays the actual starting players were on the field together AND playing their actual positions? Isn't it more about being confused because Gilmer doesn't allow the team to wear ## jerseys during the scrimmage and you have no idea who is who out there. Have faith Buckeye nation in what your program is and has become. Those "die hards" that are uptight over a scrimmage should not come. It could cause a cardiac arrest.
  4. Tuminello didn't transfer to Mesquite and Rockwall Christian for athletic purposes so I don't think you can count those moves as such. Mesquite was simply a previous home and who knows about the private school but I know that they don't have a strong athletic program. So the only move in question would be the move to Gilmer. Did he do it so that he could start? Come on... He was all state the previous year and even beat Gilmer with over 200 yds receiving. He could play anywhere for any school. He didn't cherry pick the best situation because if that was the case, he could go to a 5A program, like SLC where he could play the WR position and have a chance to test himself against top level competition. He is in the exact mold of McKay Jacobson at SLC that received a scholarship to BYU. Same size and speed showcasing great route running and hands with a strong desire to compete. IMO, he transfered to be closer to his friend. I ask again, is that for athletic purposes?
  5. Everyone is speculating as to what the UIL will or will not do. This stuff happens all the time in a state like Texas where competition and passion are in abundance. Especially in the DFW and Houston areas. Want an example? How about the #10 rated Qb in the state by Rivals.com. His name is Patrick Witt 6'4 210. Here is what some subsribers are saying about him. "He left for dallas and was beat out by at least one QB there, then he tried to come back to parkview, but our coach told him he would have to earn it back, so now he is at Wylie park trying to win that job and that isnt a guarantee. GA HS folks including his teammates are quite shocked at these offers.....................but good luck to him. I hope he proves everyone wrong, including me." "He went to Chatahooche HS as a frosh, then followed his bro to Parkview, then after his JR year, he went to Highland park to replace stafford, then he left there after he was beat out by 1 and maybe 2 other Qbs, and now he is at Wylie, so that is 4 HS's." Now if the UIL didn't prevent these transfers or suspend this EXTREME situation of "moving for athletic purposes" why would they side against a junior to be WR who moved to reunite with a good friend (like a brother)? If it was an actual brother would anyone have a problem with this? Brother isn't always defined by blood or a DNA distinction....
