  1. That's not enough to save you, this Covid critter is so mean it kills 10% of bed ridden cancer striken hospice patients that have it!
  2. Lol. Greatness! I was also a big fan of "Willie Landem" fishing guide to the stars.
  3. Oh it's a big deal alright. Covid has already killed 1/4 of the number of unborn babies murdered this year! We better all lock ourselves in the basement with our facemask and foil hats! The Covid boogeyman is coming boys!
  4. Regardless of Bundy's actions, they cancelled a game that a whole bunch of kids and coaches worked hard to play. And parents and fans made arrangements to attend to support those young people. And this idiot superintendent cancels all of that because some idiot in the parking lot won't put on a mask? I say the supe needs an booty whipping more than Bundy.
  5. Sorry if I was unclear but I understand this and agree completely. To me the property tax for education belongs to all students, not just the kids of those who pay taxes or just those who attend public school. It should belong to ALL STUDENTS!!! To clarify, take all education dollars divided by all education aged students. That's the amount id give in vouchers.
  6. I say yes! Why should a school who is not educating your kid recieve funds for educating your kid?
  7. Keep reading, In no time at all Danny boy and myself will be in total agreement!
  8. Way off. I don't think public educators are the enemy. I think mandating them as people's only option is bad! I think all types of schools can be great or terrible. All the more reason for parents and kids to have a choice.
  9. Duh? Lol. I do know that thanks to my wonderful public education. Once upon a time we had milk men and printing presses but sometimes a system needs replacing!
  10. Dude, the money doesn't change. X amount of tax dollars still educates X amount of students who live there. The only thing that changes is what school gets those dollars. A school should not keep money for a kid they are not educating. I disagree that schools would disband. I don't think vouchers would have much impact on smaller rural schools. But it could have a great benefit to a small number of rural students! You are quite wrong sir! I love our local public school district. We have some really great teachers and adminstrators. If I had vouchers or other options I personally wouldn't take them, I'd leave my kids where they are. That said, I am aware enough to know that others may not agree or in other locals be so fortunate. I am also open minded enough to see that with vouchers there is major benefit to students with little or no downside. Also I feel it would be a benefit to teachers. More schools and more of them that don't answer to the state means less teaching to the test and more room for the teachers and adminstrators on campus with the students calling their educational shots instead of idiots in Austin. I am for more choices for everyone, students, parents and teachers!
  11. It doesn't matter if the kids wants to drive 1000 miles. That's The kid and their familys business. Like everything it will get changed one day, because it is the best thing for the students. But you're right it won't be easy. Teachers lobby will see to that! Btw, why should education tax dollars stay local?
  12. Yes but if Texas passed a voucher system, everyone that depends on public schools could still use public schools! Only those that want something different would choose that route. With no additional cost to anyone. Everyone is still educated, from the best to the worst.
  13. What if you live in forney and want to attend those schools? You are out of luck. I've given up on finding any terms that you'll understand. At least folks in east texas understand common sense. For the last time, I know how the law in texas is written in regards to education and public schools. That's what I want to change. I want texas to pass a law that allows local kids to use local taxes that currently fund their education in public schools at ANY school they choose. How generous of you to provide all those public school options that YOU think are great. But it's still not as good as the kid choosing ANY school they want. And once again, nothing is FREE. Charter schools are not free! Someone is paying for them.
  14. Good job to those 3 schools. Some lucky students who hit the zip code lottery are very fortunate to get to attend those schools. For the rest of you kids living in zip codes with bad schools. Forget y'all, that money belongs to us, the public school monopoly! If you don't like it move or get rich parents! ABSOLUTELY he had to pay for it, be he shouldn't have to. We the people agreed to educate his child, but our outdated broken system says we get to pick the place!
  15. Let them choose, no way. You should choose their food, toothpaste, sleeping attire, and hair style while your at it. That's what freedom is about, you deciding for them. Nobody said they choose, they and their parents choose. Is that seriously scary to you?
  16. If there is no independent school district, then in your post you referenced DISD. What does the I stand for? If Charter schools are free why don't we send all kids to those? Then nobody would be on the hook for kids' educations. Someone has to pay, no such thing as a free lunch. (Unless you're a Democrat) Why do charter schools fill up? Could it be that they are more attractive to kids and families than public schools? Surely not! So you doubt there are any smart inner city kids. But if one happened to be found they could choose any school that "you" say they can pick from? (All belonging to DISD). That's not a choice for the family and kid, that is you and politicians choosing. If all the smart kids want to go to magnet schools, again, what's that saying about the public option? "You would never work for DISD, but if you did your pay would go up." There's the driving force behind this debate, teachers and schools money! Not the kids education, but your money! I never said Sam was GT. What if he isn't? There is still the same amount of money in my scenario. Taxes for education would remain unchanged! You're right, in my scenario there are no ISD TAXES! There are only education taxes, so that the money goes with the kids where it belongs and is not welded to the pocket book of the public education cartel! Sorry I must've fat fingered that one. I before E except after C....... Except when you're foreign neighbor Keith receives eight counterfeit beige sleighs from feisty caffeinated weightlifters. (Another fine example of public education teachings)
  17. Hutchings said in a statement, “I can confirm that our family made a decision to change my daughter’s school this school year. Decisions like these are very personal family decisions and are not taken lightly. This in no way impacts my absolute lifelong, commitment to public education, to which I remain as personally dedicated as ever.” lol, this dude. Wow "very personal family decision",....... Unless you're poor, then it's a politician/ teacher association decision
  18. Take the ISD out of the equation. The money shouldn't belong to the ISD, it should belong to the student that we the public pay taxes to educate. The poor inner city kid 9th grader Sam has broke parents and lives in a terrible district. Let's call it "Cesspool isd". Sam hates cesspool isd because the kids are terribly behaved, steal, cheat, fight, and all read on a kindergarten level. The school is not challenging to him and the teachers are forced to babysit and teach down to the class level. Down the street is Heaven private/ charter school. They are the top school in the country and Sam would like to attend there. It would further his education greatly and increase his academic and professional outcomes. Under your current system Sam is forced by you and politicians to attend cesspool. No options. Under a voucher program Sam may take the local and state taxes that pay for his education at cesspool and move them and himself to heaven school. Or not, the choice belongs to him and his parents. In this scenario, Sam and his family and society all recieve tremendous benefit at 0 additional cost from him being allowed voucher to heaven school. Under your system, Sam, his family and society all are punished with 0 taxpayer savings, just so that the ISD can retain money that they don't deserve. We can all see the benefits to the student in this scenario. Under your system what student benefits?
  19. I understand, so you and politicians should make their choices for them? And I'm the socialist for wanting freedom to choose?
  20. In most police shootings that have made headlines no you shouldn't because most of them are an officer performing his job, not murder. If you're a citizen acting in self defense, then no you shouldn't be arrested quickly or at all. But in this case, it appears the rangers' investigation pointed them to this deserving a murder charge. Then and only then should the shooter be arrested quickly.
  21. If a family wants to change schools every single year I say let em. I don't think that would happen, but choices in school for kids is a good thing!
  22. I know you cannot do that now. With a simple voucher law you would have the right for a child to take their portion of education tax dollars. And that would benefit childrens education. Making them stay in the current system does not
  23. Jefferson was describing to the Baptists that the United States Bill of Rights prevents the establishment of a national church, and in so doing they did not have to fear government interference in their right to expressions of religious conscience. The Bill of Rights, adopted in 1791 as ten amendments to the Constitution of the United States, was one of the earliest political expressions of religious freedom[citation needed]. Others were the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, also authored by Jefferson and adopted by Virginia in 1786; and the French Declaration of the Rights of the Man and of the Citizen of 1789. The metaphor "a wall of separation between Church and State" used by Jefferson in the above quoted letter became a part of the First Amendment jurisprudence of the U.S. Supreme Court. It was first used by Chief Justice Morrison Waite in Reynolds v. United States (1878). American historian George Bancroft was consulted by Waite in the Reynolds case regarding the views on establishment by the framers of the U.S. constitution. Bancroft advised Waite to consult Jefferson. Waite then discovered the above quoted letter in a library after skimming through the index to Jefferson’s collected works according to historian Don Drakeman.[21] Correct, so not one government document says "separation of church and state" Why is he saying that in a letter to a baptist church? Clearly so the baptist would know that their kids couldn't and wouldn't hear about God in schools? C'mon man, you're smarter than that.
  24. Not exactly apples to apples. You can't build a longview city street anywhere but longview. You can educate a longview kid in many different places, and longview still recieve the benefit of having educated children.
