  1. Are you forgetting New York Giants legend Jake Fromm?
  2. Please tell me it's Joe Buck Sears. That would be awesome!
  3. Gotta be Phil Castles or Richard Strickland.
  4. "BREAKING: Stoops to Cleveland."
  5. It is in their financial interests to ensure Longview returns to the State Championship game.
  6. I am old friends with a headmaster of an elite private school, and they have absolutely no intention of taking any voucher students for this exact reason.
  7. Uh... did you read literally anything I posted above? <sigh> To answer your questions: No, and no.
  8. Longview will start the season state-ranked in Class 6A, and they stand a damn fine chance of having an undefeated regular season. If the o-line gels the way I think it could, I predict the Lobos will return to Jerryworld in December. CEILING: 16-0 state champs FLOOR: 13-3 state runners-up
  9. I only have three reliable sources among the BMDs and college leadership, and none of them are optimistic about Brent's future. It hurts because he really is a helluva guy. While, no, it won't get John Blake ugly in terms of institutional chaos, it's already worse than John Blake ugly in terms of on-field results. Unfortunately, I just think he's not cut out to be a head coach. I just don't think he's wired that way. I expect he'll return somewhere as a DC, and have continued success. Or perhaps his alma mater (Kansas State) might take a shot at him. It could be a great spot for him actually with lesser expectations year-in and year-out.
  10. OU’s 2024 season ended with a humiliating 21-20 bowl loss to Navy, where a no-star offense ran all over a defense that’s supposed to be Brent Venables’ strength. It was a fitting end to another inconsistent and underwhelming season, highlighting Venables’ continued inability to adjust in-game and leaving the fanbase largely unconvinced he is the right fit as head coach. Now, as the Sooners prepare for 2025, the issues are all too familiar. The administration, led by AD Joe Castiglione, is still playing catch-up with NIL and the Transfer Portal while rivals like Texas surge ahead. Meanwhile, the offense AGAIN enters the new season with an uncertain o-line and unproven playmakers, making any excitement over new OC Ben Arbuckle and QB John Mateer feel premature. And the 2025 schedule? Brutal. A likely Week 2 loss to Michigan at home sets the tone, with road games at Alabama, Tennessee, and South Carolina looming. Throw in the Red River Shootout against a reloaded Texas squad, and another rough year seems inevitable. Unless major changes are made, OU fans should brace for more frustration and quite likely the end of the Venables-Castiglione era. CEILING: 8-4 FLOOR: 4-8 2025 PREDICTION: 6-7 As with this season, we'll win a couple games we shouldn't and lose a few we shouldn't. OU leadership will pull the trigger before the end of the regular season.
  11. The Oklahoma Sooners ended 2024 with a disappointing 6-7 record, including a one-point bowl loss to Navy, immediately followed with the loss of their defensive coordinator. The program faces uncertainty heading into the 2025 season. Place all your prognostications, wishful thinking, and general Sooners commentary here.
  12. Finishing in second-place confirms my thesis yet again that Fantasy Football is a total crapshoot, and luck wins over skill every time.

  14. Are you hearing the same name I'm hearing? Big if true...
  15. I'm surprised at the number of Lobo fans who are hoping SLC gets touted. Frankly, I'm the opposite. A huge SLC win would indicate that the semifinal game was the *real* state title game, and provide a pretty clear validation of how Longview is to winning another ring. Obviously I understand the "sour grapes" aspect of wanting SLC to lose, but it's too emotional a response for me.
  16. Clemson is a paper tiger. This one won't be close. UT's defense will force enough three-and-outs that the offense will be able to take their time. I expect Arch will be in the game most of the second half.
  17. This is a bitter pill, but everyone on the team and staff feels like this. Forget about the controversial call, never leave it up to the referees. Let's work toward leaving no doubt in 2025.
  18. If I'm his uncle, I tell him to go to Oregon. Go for that big Nike bag!
  19. Fair point.
  20. Ah yes, he certainly scorched such vaunted opponents as Portland State, Hawaii, and Wyoming. Oh wait... scratch that: he actually threw the game-losing interception against that elite Wyoming secondary. You could very well be right. I'm just going to curb my enthusiasm until he plays a schedule with a pulse. Trust me, I would love to be wrong.
  21. First account was late summer/early fall of 2002 when I lived out of state. Was mostly just a lurker to find out scores and updates from ETX football. I think I lost the password or email and created another account in mid 2003. Then I got banned in one of the OU-UT threads and created a couple sockpuppets. I remember getting into arguments with myself just to antagonize others. Got banned again. Took about a year off to finish college, then came back around Christmastime in 2005 and created this current account. It's changed names a few times. (Pretty sure I still have two or three accounts on here from the old days, but I can't remember their handles or passwords.) Been a wild ride.
  22. I feel similarly about Mateer. I'm not completely sold that he isn't a lateral move from Jackson Arnold. Oh, he certainly produced at Wazzu... but the week-in week-out competition was hardly comparable. Most of the highlights I'm able to find are him throwing to open receivers and making broken-field runs against hapless defenders. Granted, it will help that his OC/QB coach is here, and their chemistry is certainly light-years over whatever we were doing this year. But it's far from the certainty that I'm seeing among my Sooner brethren. Consider me skeptical on Mateer until the Michigan game. I certainly won't be impressed just because he lights up the mighty mighty Cardinals of Illinois State.
  23. A downfield passer who's also a 6'2" 225lb downhill runner.
