  1. I just don't see how we score more against Tennessee than we did against Houston. They will provide ample pressure with three linemen rather easily, which will free up a linebacker/end to spy the QB. Arnold will finish with negative rushing yards. Sawchuck/Barnes/Taylor will combine for less than 50 yards on 20+ carries. Arnold will also have a minimum of two interceptions, possibly another pick-six. We might not break 100 total passing yards. Defensively, we actually match up well with Tennessee and I think (with a better offense) we could hold them under thirty points. But alas, we will go three-and-out 10 to 15 times. Thus, the defense will be on the field for nearly forty minutes. That's too much to ask any defense. Even if the game starts close, the Vols will simply wear us out down the stretch. Tennessee wins 47-13.
  2. Proud of him no matter what... but also annoyed that he's coming off the bench. He's clearly the best RB on the roster. I don't know why we're acting like he's some wet-behind-the-ears rookie who has to learn the ropes. He needs to be starting and getting 15-20 touches per game.
  3. Are they rounding OU up to the nearest tens-place?
  4. Around 7:30 a.m. local time. East Texas. I was eating breakfast with my baby daughter (only had one child at the time) and was about to leave for work. Phone rang, my wife answered and it was someone selling insurance or something. Wife said we weren't interested. Caller said, "Well you may want to buy insurance because the world might be coming to an end." Seriously. The person actually said that. My wife said, "Um, excuse me? What the hell did you just say?" Caller told her to turn on the news, said "the World Trade Center was just bombed," and my wife hung up on her. Turned on the TV. I think it was on Good Morning America. My impression was that, yeah, it was obviously a terrible accident. Passenger plane experienced some manner of technical issue, and crashed. Terrible yes, but not wholly unprecedented. The fact it crashed into such an iconic building and landmark certainly made it a major news story. I watched live as the second plane hit. I remember saying, out loud, the same thing every other rational person said, "This was no accident."

  6. My dad faced Joe Wylie in high school. Played middle linebacker. Said he was like a man among boys with the ball in his hands. The defense would double-, triple-, or just all-11 focus in on him, but he'd bob, weave, or just flat outrun every man on the field.
  7. Kamden Perry, Class of 2019 (Longview)... 1st and 10? 3rd and long? Hitch, slant, fade? Floating over the middle? Doesn't matter. If you get the ball anywhere near him, he's coming down with it. I watched Perry play four years of high school ball at Longview and he never dropped a catchable pass. Hell, I saw him catch numerous un-catchable passes. Though he was nowhere near as naturally talented as guys like Jalen Hale or Malcolm Kelly, in my opinion he's the best wideout in Lobo history.
  8. BREAKING NEWS: Sources confirm that Fason Jerguson has been named interim Superintendent for Linden-Kildare ISD.
  9. This level of nuance eludes many SDC posters.
  10. Bishop Sycamore ain't got nothing on Cass County, Texas.
  11. Going through one or two head coaches in four years ain't unprecedented. Rare? Maybe. Ill-advised? Certainly. But it does happen. Going through five head coaches in four years is a full-blown crisis.
  12. I hope he can stick it longer than a day. Speaking as someone on the outside and completely uninformed, it looks like an L-K culture problem more than a coaching problem.
  13. Link? I skimmed through his recent posts and couldn't find anything...
  14. She is certainly the most disciplined and old-school hardnosed band directors we've had in the decade I've been here. And yet: the students, the parents, and the admin all love her and her team. Sounds like GOAT material to me.
  15. I used to think that revenue was the main motivation, but last night's middling attendance convinced me otherwise. Time to move on.
  16. I'm not going back and re-reading any of that mess, but I don't mind saying that back then I was totally: 1.) skeptical of the move for A&M's part 2.) frustrated that the Big XII did not craft a better tv deal (thus: LHN) 3.) hopeful Big XII leadership would react strategically to strengthen the brand 4.) ultimately indifferent, because all I care about is how conference affiliation benefits OU Today, I am glad we left the Big XII. It was an abusive relationship, and we stayed in it too long trying to patch things up. Maybe we did it for the kids. Maybe it was out of laziness. But we stayed too long. Joining the SEC was the best move. We're certainly gonna take our lumps this season and the next, but I have every confidence that things are gonna work out so much better for us in the long run.
  17. This was a bigger game a year ago... I just don't see how Michigan stays with Texas for four quarters. Yes, it'll seem close early on, but UT will get stronger while UM will start to falter.
