Seems like a pretty tough indictment over one incident that wasn't handled the way you think it should have been.

These were 11 and 12 year old kids we are talking about...

Maybe he didn’t dump all of their junk on the board? Daddy ball at its finest! I run the league. Everyone else eat it!

I have read most of the posts on this forum and some strange patterns seem to have emerged.  Early on there were posters listing their top head coaches for the job from other schools, which is not uncommon for a thread like this.  Soon enough DA posts started showing up which is also not unusual when there is a HC job open at Daingerfield.  Then the current coaching staff bashing started coming up, again which is not unusual in a topic such as this.  And then, as usual, the bashing of the administration and school board began to show up.  So it seems to me this began as just a normal thread.

However, the personal attacks on people of the community have been extremely harsh.  The "fieldhouse man" attacks are some of the most disturbing to me because that man is one of the best men to have ever lived around Daingerfield.  I mean even to the point of one poster insinuating he is going incognito for not driving his classic truck around but instead opting for the camry which was his deceased wife's car.  The same one he has been driving pretty regularly since her death is ridiculous to me.  The accusations that the "little fat man" is running the show?  The remarks that the superintendent is just looking out for her own agenda and personal gain?  What personal gain could come from this for the superintendent?

I'm also confused by the posts of how dumb she is being led around by the manipulators, while claiming she is the one manipulating the selection committee, the school board and the entire town.  Which one is it?  Or, is it the personal agenda of some of the posters on here who are looking out for their own wants or who may bitter from past decisions?

Whoever the administration and school board decide to hire, I am behind them 100% and will trust their decision even if I don't agree with it.  We always need to remember those actually playing the game on Friday nights are just kids and they deserve the support of the Daingerfield fans.

It’s called “we didn’t get what we wanted, and we’re taking our toys and going home!” Also the same people to throw out “millennial”!

Not hiring DA (assuming he wants to go back there) to me would mean some people in Daingerfield is scared of losing some power...

Like @INTENSIFICATION said... DA would come in and be a rock star... Tom Cruise of Daingerfield... a beloved figure that would appear to hold as much power over the town as any Supt ever could...

Bud Kilmer without all of the other stuff in that movie

Nope you had it right the first time... Bud Kilmer.

That may have some impact, but ultimately we can all accept troubling information, if it is proven to be ACCURATE. And, is presented in a respectful manner.

Or just post "Kerry Strong" should get this one! Then everyone laughs and feels warm and fuzzy.

If you have good, solid, accurate information then you won't get stoned.

It's when you THINK you have inside information and you are mistaken, then you find yourself in trouble.

No. It's people don't like what they hear is the deciding factor.

Give us your facts to back that up.  Troup stabbed in the back the best thing that ever happened to that pathetic excuse of a program.  You may be right that in the end money was lost, but what was gained you can’t put a price tag on.  This is Troups MO, they just picked the wrong person to try and bully this time.  Make sure you’re not getting your facts from a school board that has its head in the sand and should be ashamed for what they put that place through.  I can assure you Troup and all the buffoons involved were about to get their kicked.

INTENSIFICATION is working on his next big conspiracy theory against Marshall... Just wait... MARSHALL WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO BE ON THE SAME LEVEL OF OTHER TOP 5A D2 TEAMS!  <<<  just waiting on this, I am sure it will happen soon enough  >>>

I think Marshall can win the District, Have a legitimate shot at the Region, and who knows. I have zero problems with Marshall, nor did I ever say anything about them except getting rid of Harper was a head scratcher, but to each his own. Weren’t you the one that said Mathas wasn’t even interested in De Soto, he won’t leave, he told us this, he has told us that?

First of all, I would like to apologize, and eat crow, when it comes to bashing "Intesification"... if this thing unfolds with Mathis leaving then he clearly was right from the get go. Im not sure about ALL of his antics, but he was spot on with Mathis potentially leaving. So I apologize for doubting.

As for the rest of this mess. I would think in the coaching profession that for a coach to turn down a top level job in the state he would be foolish (Examples: Allen, Katy, Desoto, Trinity, Lake Travis, Judson, Westlake, The Woodlands, etc) There are about 10 6a jobs you don't say no to. I dont care who the coach is, you don't turn them down. This is the situation Marshall could be in. Id think they knew from the start that if Mathis was there for 2-3 years it was a win for them. Surely they didnt see him being a decade long coach, or a lifer. Thatd be foolish knowing him and his coaching career path.

I think its hard for a coach to be in limbo and save face with the community. Alot of coaches don't go through that, but for these high profile jobs that can be different when information gets out to the public. I think he has been upfront... to some degree. He told Marshall he was a Mav. He then told Marshall that Desoto had contacted him. From that point, i don't think you can cling to his first statement. At this point it is up in the air.

The question is where does Marshall go if he does leave. At the same time, if he does stay, Marshall can be a hostile place once trust is burned. The town of Marshall cannot be entitled to keeping a high caliber coach forever, or thinking they will. Marshall is not a state power house (not yet at least), and living in the 90s success isn't valid. All the coaches who have come through Marshall have left, clearly knowing the talent they had. I think the bigger question is why have they left? If the talent is so surreal in Marshall then why are these coaches leaving? I something going on internally to cause this? Has the Marshall job just become a "stepping stone" job for coaches to get to thier next job?

We will know id think by mid March if not sooner.

The only mistake Marshall made was letting the new Sup jack with Harper. That domino caused the rest to fall. He had the program climbing back to where it should be. New Sup wanted a New AD/ HFB and chose not only a Metroplex guy, but a coach on the way out at SMU, in contact with board members at De Soto, which delayed the announcement for his hire at Marshall, and once the townspeople and athletes spoke for Peterman, Mathis magically decided to sign the dotted line. Marshall will be fine, but when the time comes can this Sup get it right? I know I know Marshallites and other DOUBTERS, "you don't know, you don't know", but guess what, THAT JUST HAPPENED. Best of luck to all involved! Hope Marshall and De Soto rolls!
