If you remember the lateral that DF recovered in the 2nd q. One fan had just screamed at him telling him it was stupid to keep running up the middle with 10 men in the box. Next play he tries the swing pass and DF has the ball and goes right down and scores in about three plays WB does one thing well on offense and that is run the option--It has won ya'll many games over the last decade

I understand what you are talking about but again it would not have mattered in this game. Passing on a regular basis would have simply stopped the clock and allowed DF more drives and more points. Winnsboro had great season but was not ready for the talent of DF yet. Look at what is happening to Mineola tonight. Huge difference in the talent level of district 7 and district 8. I hate to see teams have a great seasom ruined by blaming coaches for the loss. Wb fans were calling Pinnell stupid early in the second quarter. Players don't need to hear that negativity during a a playoff game. Instead you should pat the coaches and players on the back as they work to get better for next year

Actually on the same drive as the long pass he attempted two passes into the end zone and they failed. The option is what got Winnsboro there and it was their only chance to win. Ball control and keep the ball away from DF as much as possible. If Pinnell had came out and threw the ball 40 times stopping the clock the Tigers would have scored a 100. You could see the writing on the wall on the long run by WB early. What was normally a touchdown against the teams WB played all year was just a good run because DF ran the kid down like he was running in quicksand. Why dont you just take the season for what is was--Pinnell took a very poor inexperience team from the year before and turned them into a pretty good team that won second place in a weak district and then got beat by a much better team in the playoffs. Throwing the ball to your brother would not have changed the outcome in any shape form or fashion. Pinnell does a great job and WB will be better next year but still will having trouble against teams with speed

I believe Caddo will win this one. Both teams can move the ball but GS defense has been very suspect the whole district campaign. Caddo Mills may be down after losing out on playoffs last week but if they come ready to play I dont think GS can stop them. Indians have made great improvemnet and should be stronger next year and ready to contend for playoff spot.

Alba won 21-18 should be in playoffs with a win over scurry next week---How you doing? everything going good

Melissa hammered Mineola--Sets up good matchup for district title---Melissa has better talent on field but Pinnell can play a game thats keeps ball away from their high powered offense. Mineola has to beat Caddo or they could stay at home

You r correct there--Any coach that followed those 3 state championships was going to get blamed unless they win a forth

I am not blaming coach at all---simply saying he doesnt have the same atheltes--Just like Bowman didnt win all those state championships at Bullard. DF would have won state in 50, split,46,10-1 or anything else they lined up in.

anything you run will work in 2A when you have 6 or 7 DI athletes--not so well when they are gone

Week 7 cleared the picture in this district. Melissa and Mineola are easily the two most talented teams in the district. Winnsboro is much improved, well coached and capable of beating both teams as they showed against Mineola. They will pound the football with their option and if teams are not patient and disciplined they will beat you. Caddo Mills and Grand Saline are also much improved from last year but clearly not at the level of the top three this year. Quitman just simply does not have the horses to compete after losing McNeal. They can score against slow defenses but cannot stop anyone from moving the football. Very possible that their will be a three way tie at the top of this one then I take Caddo 4 Grand Saline 5 and Quitman 6

If GS couldnt stop Quitman they will not come close to stopping Mineola

One of those kids that you loved to coach- Was in the weight room every morning before 7:00 AM during basketball and baseball season and never missed a day of summer strength and conditioning. Was at the fieldhouse every morning by 7:00 watching film during football season. If he ran a 4.5 40 or weighed 225 he would have been a DI player. Instead at 180 and a running a 4.8 he was simply a very good high school player that got every thing he could possibly get from his ability

A kid that has no where near the athletic ability of Wright or Mitchell but had a great senior season is Blaine Shackelford from Quitman. AP All State LB, TSWA All State TE and LB, 1st Team all district TE and LB, All East Texas both position and Smoaky.com at both postions. 2nd team all district in basketball, district MVP in baseball as well as THSBCA All State and TSWA All state at catcher. Academic all state in football- basketball- and baseball.

Just to throw this out there-I dont necessarily agree with it but I know some coaches believe it. Some Coaches refuse to send in stats and box scores at least until after the first round of district to avoid having teams scout them through the paper. For Example if coach A turns in 3-4 games with a player going 3-4 with extra base hits each game then coaches will tend to pitch around that player. Stats are given at All District meetings, sent to all East Texas selection and to colleges toward the end of the season so the players get attention. Again I dont totally agree and I always turned in every game when I coached but I know some coaches that do this.

Maybe you should slow down and re read the post- I said they were one of the best in the region not the best. They have proven that the past three years and this years team hits the ball much better than any of their previous teams. They played many quality teams from higher classifications in non district and fared very well against them- Neither Quitman nor Edgewood will be an easy out in the playoffs. The Henderson Girls arm could carry Edgewood against any team on any night. Quitman has three quality pitchers-plays good defense and hits the ball well. The Lady Dogs biggest weakness is youth and inexperience as most of the starters are Freshman and Soph

The lady bulldogs wrapped up the first round of play 6-0 outscoring opponents 68-2. They have a huge game friday in Edgewood to start 2nd round--After a 2-0 win at home in first round this should be a great game between two of the best teams in the region

Has anybody noticed how well The Lady Bulldogs are playing. After beating Edgewood 2-0 in the first district game they have won the last 2 games by a combined score of about 45-1. Looks like they might have a chance to go a long way

I would blame it on having a poor team. The coach scheduled smart knowing he could not compete in district to try and save a job for himself and the rest of his staff. Also to keep his players from facing total failure and possibly losing kids that become frustrayed along the way

As of right now i believe you are correct-Looks like big schools as of now include Henrietta, Godley, Grandview, Caddo, Farmersvile, Pottsboro, Prairiland, Winnsboro--some preety good comp there Small schools look like: Holliday, Nocona, Cisco, Boyd, Itasco, Hico, Lone Oak, Palmer, Melissa, Aubrey, Gunter, Whitewright, Dekalb, Chisum, Quitman, Grand Saline----gunter looks to be the cream of the crop
