Funny thing about all this is that you can never tell what the UIL will do. What most of us thinks makes perfect sense the UIL will do something totally different. It’s definitely fun to toss it around and discuss it though.

Our run D is solid. I don’t see Potts making a living on the ground. They are going to attack our secondary. Im confident our coach’s will have a strategy to counter their passing attack and hopefully the kids will execute it. I think this game is similar to last year. Hopefully for us with the same result. Potts will definitely come to play and give us their best. Hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate and give us some decent weather. Good luck Potts and safe travels. We will see you Friday.

It’s a double edged sword. Jeffy had the DB’s to man up our receivers. Yes you probably can get away with a dump pass but they were bringing so many it had to be real quick. Props to them for being able to pull it off. I honestly didn’t think they would and I was wrong. Kudos to our coaching staff for not panicking and sticking to their game plan. It worked. Made me nervous, but it worked. Lol

Thanks for the kind words. And to you guys as well. I will admit for a quarter and a half I thought this game was gonna go a different way. Both teams showed tremendous heart and character. We haven’t been punched in the mouth like that all year. I mean no disrespect by what I’m about to say but to me it is mind boggling how you guys have not gotten past round two The last few years with all the talent you have over there. It’s a shame because that game last night is one you expect to see maybe round four. Similar to when we caught Rockdale 1st round two years ago when they won state. Anyway good luck to you guys next year. I think I speak for most of Malakoff when I say that you have earned our respect and deserve every bit of it. Anybody that thinks otherwise is a fool.

I thought it was fine. We parked on the visiting side. Got out with no problems and we stayed the entire game. Nice place!

Our side filled up. I think a lot of people thought the game was at 7:30.

God I’m glad that’s over with. Jefferson y’all got a great team. Hate that we had to meet in the second round. That was a dogfight. Jefferson’s explosive speedy offense vs our methodical ground game. I’ll have to admit that first quarter I thought y’all had our number. Had me nervous. Lol. Tigers, great game. Y’all played a great team in a slugfest and never gave up. They came out and punched us in the mouth and you punched right back. Just like champions. Jefferson you have my utmost respect. Y’all played a hell of a game with a lot of heart. Great game so far. Gotta admit I didn’t think it would be this close. Jefferson’s offense is explosive. But it looks like we are finally getting some pressure on the QB. Hopefully we can make another long drive after half and punch it in and make Jefferson play catch up like we did the first half.

We know who they are. Same kids they had last year. We know they’re quick, but so is our defense. They will have to earn it up the middle because our D is to quick side to side. Hopefully for our sake they will spend most of the game watching it from the sideline, like last year, while our offense controls the clock. We shall see.

You know at the first of the year I think there was a big question mark about our line since we lost almost all of them to graduation. But these kids have stepped in a filled those vacancies and have become leaders and answered those questions. The defense, in my humble opinion, is as good, maybe better, than last year and definitely way faster. We lost a few key players on that side but some kids stepped up and are doing a tremendous job. And having every single one of your skilled kids back is a definite plus. But the thing that sets us apart from everyone else year in and year out is our coaching staff. We all know that Driskell is an amazing coach and leader but also what coach Watkins has done with that defense this year is nothing short of amazing. All our coaches are great and they love our kids and our kids in turn respect them and play hard for them.

I noticed that as well when we played them. They have a couple of linemen with some size but their skilled kids are a little on the light side. But don’t let that fool you. The starting RB, #3 I believe, is small but he will not go down on first contact. Kid has a small frame but a big heart. I did notice tackling seems to be an issue so if Winny can control the LOS and just pound them they should be successful.

This game will be won or lost by the big boys in the trenches. Just like last year. I think we hold an edge in that department. Especially on defense. I’m not saying Black won’t get loose on us but he’s not gonna run all over us. That hasn’t happened all year and we have faced some speedsters before. We have some big fast backs that will punish you and wear you down. Rotating them in and out keeps them fresh. I know I’m biased but I think we have one of the best coaching staffs in Texas in any classification and that also makes a huge difference. Can’t wait until Thursday night. This years team is just as good as last years. The defense, in most of our opinions, is way faster than last year. Last year our main ball carrier was #10 Rose. This year #22 Davis is healthy, which he wasn’t last year vs Jefferson. Both are big, powerful, and run like a madman possessed. They will get to the 2nd level quickly and you will not bring them down with one tackler. Right now Peace is throwing dimes and he has multiple receivers that can take it to the house once they get the ball. Make no mistake about it, this game will be won in the trenches, same as last year. If we can dominate the line of scrimmage like last year it will be a long night for Jefferson. I’m well aware of the two quick backs Jefferson has but our front seven are big, fast and pursue the ball very well. I’m not going to make a prediction but I think we are three scores better. Good luck Jefferson y’all are a very formidable opponent. Safe travels as well.

If Winnsboro can move the ball on the ground they should be fine. Madison’s RB is a hard runner. Small kid, not super fast, but he runs very tough and is very slippery. QB is kinda small too but he’s accurate. They played us tough for a quarter but then we got some separation and never looked back. They have some kids that can take it to the house if they get in open space.

I read in a previous thread that a punch was thrown. I absolutely do not know if that’s the truth or not but it’s what I read. So don’t shoot the messenger. Unfortunate for him because he will have to sit 1st half of our game. Not sure what kind of impact that will have for Jefferson.
