  1. How many coaches does this make in the past few years?
  2. I think they struggle to keep people anyway. An AD turnover coaches will always look. Lake close by and good pay. I think the facilities are good there too. Big problem is a tough district with a lack of athletes. Being competitive is probably the realistic goal, but like a lot of places, I doubt the community believes that.
  3. The AD is the head basketball coach. A former DC I believe so not an anti football guy. Think he was made the AD for stability. He's been there a good while, and doubt it gets taken away from him. As to money and teaching because of that, no clue.
  4. Heard Prairiland is looking for a HFC only again. Can anyone confirm?
  5. With him being reassigned and no misconduct being brought up its tough to think they will hire internally. Looks like they weren't happy with what was happening so why go with someone that was a part of that? Does anyone know what Childress runs offensively?
  6. Go ahead and add this to the "Lots of jobs open" thread. Harmony, Alto,...Childress. Politics at play. To be so successful, more successful than a majority of coaches and you're job isn't safe. Imagine young coaches looking at these situations. Work hard, pay your dues, be successful, get fired/reassigned/asked to retire/ asked to resign.
  7. What did he coach? and is it known if this is an administration role or if he will continue to coach?
  8. I think a better conversation would be who had the best/worst hire LAST coaching carousel. No way to tell right now. Going off name alone and not results.
  9. Fort Worth ISD is feeling the teacher and coaching shortage heavily and is trying to combat it early. Other places are still in denial. Lets look at some first year Beast Texas numbers. Texarkana, Tyler, Longview and surrounding area first year pay: Paul Pewit 34,160 Bullard: 35,000 Atlanta: 35,160 Daingerfield: 36,680 Winnsboro: 37,000 PG: 37,000 Spring Hill: 37,158 Texas High: 43,000 Tyler Legacy: 48,750 Dekalb: 49,400 Longview: 49,500 A lot of jobs make a lot more with a lot less stress or a lot less hours. I can beat half of these driving a garbage route.
  10. Are you still considered West Texas Oil Field Trash if you live in East Texas every other 2 weeks?
  11. Probably worked his way through college too with no debt. Minimum wage was the same as now and it cost about 150-200% less than now, but that's not the point, he had grit. In all seriousness, this article shows why people aren't in this profession. Its not the wussification of the next generation. Its that the next generation sees that the money isn't worth the time. The previous generation made considerably more starting out than the new generation when inflation is considered. This was even from a couple years ago. There has been no raise, and record inflation since. The new generation is also tired of hearing how tough and hard working the previous generation was when everything was better outside of film break down. https://www.timesrecordnews.com/story/news/local/2020/08/20/analysis-texas-teachers-make-15-7-percent-less-than-other-workers/5617850002/
  12. A trend: Old people calling the younger generation soft to justify and ignore problems. Never leads to any fix, but also displaces blame away from themselves.
  13. At a time the state should be ramping up support for educators the state is focused on pushing for vouchers to make private schools more money. No state support, teaching during covid, more and more legislation and laws that make teachers lives more difficult, parents that complain how or what is taught in class, parents that complain about playing time, parents that complain about punishments, parents that complain about play calls, parents, a job that depends on the ability of 14-18 year olds to perform and do what they are taught, a job that will always end in your resignation because expectations are never satisfied. All to be told "You get summers off (which no coach does), and you don't do it for the money you do it for the kids". or Make more money, have better benefits, job doesn't follow you home, no one outside of your job yells about how your job is done, never move your family, less hours, less stress and more.
  14. I would give Buddy Ray a call and see if he would retire from retirement.
  15. Figure out how to move your certification to Texas or get certified to teach in Texas. Join THSCA, there's a job board. Texas is in an educator and coaching shortage, you'll find a job.
  16. Sounds dysfunctional. I've heard New Diana coaches refer to Bernie as the AD. 3 total athletic coordinators seems like overkill at a 3A.
  17. I feel like this gets brought up every year. Brock of course gets brought up but they are the exception not the norm. Also never stripped it from the HFC title since they added football late they just kept it the same. And even their coach eventually left for an AD spot. Edgewood does it and does it in a very weird way where the AD is actually the OC. Prairieland's AD is the Head Basketball coach and if I'm right have actually improved since that move. On the other hand New Diana's is the baseball coach and they are horrible at everything but baseball now. At the right place it can work and there are non football guys that would make great ADs. There is this fear that it looks like you are giving up on football being good, and there is truth to the applicants you'd get or that the job becomes a stepping stone to AD jobs.
  18. I would say he's the front runner for the QB job. You don't dish out over $60,000 in NIL deals to his dad for your recruit to sit the bench.
  19. I don't understand Leon being burnt out. He won the first playoff game in 24 years according to the article. And if I'm not wrong he's actually won multiple since he's been there. Talk about a place not knowing its ceiling.
  20. I mean come on man let's use some logic. A coach comes in goes from 2-8 to 6-3. Resigns with no other job. No scandal has come out about him. No one has openly said a bad thing about him and he seems to be well respected. The job search moves relatively quickly and a guy from the previous staff is hired... I suspect you may need a few magic erasers to clean up the mess behind the scenes in Alto.
  21. Let's hope small town politics doesn't chase this guy off too. Hope he keeps the right parents happy.
  22. From what I've heard, there was a Jacket considered last time. One that wouldn't have already run off because of realignment. The job is obviously less desirable now. Does he jump through all the hoops again?
  23. So Dracos is officially the guy. Interesting. Wonder the reasoning for leaving and coming back.
